    I bought one (fearly large/full) scindapsus pictus around three years ago, managed to split it up in three. They grow so fast, so I propagated a lot of the long growing stuff, gave two pots with propagations away to friends and currently having 4 pots filled plus one big vase with propagations going on steady. I love them so much! Propagating them is addictive ❤😅

    The exotica has been one of my absolute favourite plants right from the get go. I always love to see how other people care for theirs!!
    I also agree with you on the light to growth ratio being very connected!! I have most of my scindapsus is bright indirect light and they grow a lot faster than the ones I have in darker spots (wish I could put them all there but I do have a space issue sadly)
    Edit: Also on the topic of the non velvet ones being different care than the velvet ones: It makes sense that they are different care since they are a different species than the velvet ones!! The velvety ones are from the pictus species and the other ones are from the treubii species!! I agree on the treubii ones being a lot more difficult and prone to root rot! I lost the majority of my moonlight and all of my dark form to root rot sadly. We'll see how the left over moonlight cuttings will do. I have some hope for them!!

    One interesting thing about these is that several are shingling plants. For example if an exotica grows up a wall it starts looking like a monstera dubia :) Also seems to always grow twice as fast when it gets to grow up

      My leaves are getting smaller over time. I don't know why. Maybe a bit more fertilizer then what it should take? I read somewhere to give it a trellis so the leaves get bigger. Some moonlight type leave pots are a foot and ½ away from a sunny window yet the leaves are getting very small. And my pictus i know doesn't get as big as exotica but keeps getting smaller, too. I need help. 😢

    Hello, Ms. JungleHaven! (Do you spell your name Clare or Claire?) I wanted to share with you that pronouncing Scindapsus with the sound of /k/, as you prefer it, is correct. It comes from the Greek /skindapsos/, which means "on a tree" or "up a tree" and refers, mostly, to climbing vines, lichens, and epiphytes.

    • @1faithchick7
      @1faithchick7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Air circulation. If you have good circulation you don't have to worry (like putside does). It's when the water sits on the leaves that's the issue. They start rotting.

    Like your videos a lot, very informative. I keep struggling with the words bright indirect sunlight. I always want to put my plants almost in front of the window , but not as the sun shining directly on their leaves ofcourse. But i see you have plants every where. So if i for example put one near a televison, or a table or a dressoir, further away from the window in my living room where i have a big window, is that still bright indirect sunlight. Because in front of the window with protection you can't place many plants, if you know what i mean? Grtz from Belgium 💖

    I’ve had the worst luck with my silver satin. When I bought it, it was stunning but the roots were so rotten. I cut it way back, repotted, and then tried to propagate, and the majority of it has failed. I’ve got one pitiful vine that is fighting its way back in my grow tent and a few leaves I’m hoping root in soil. 8 months later, still hoping for success.

I can wait! i see people cutting theirs up in my local plant group a LOT and asking a lot for each cutting. I like to get cuttings and watch them grow.
