Scindapsus are my favourite genus of plants!! I just got a Treubii Dark From, Treubii Moonlight and a Jade Satin!! So happy to see my collection of them grow!! They are all so incredibly gorgeous!
The tip for using different kinds of soil for different kinds of growth was an AMAZING gem and gift! I'm fairly new to houseplants. Tidbits of knowledge like that genuinely blow my mind 😍 Thanks so much for being so informative !
Yes!! I've had plants for a looong time and I'm 67! I just realized a few years ago that different plants need different soils. I used to just buy bags of soil for houseplants and wondered why they all got root rot!!!! What a difference it's made!!! I learn something new every day. Now I have orchid bark, worm castings, lots of perlite, peat moss, etc and I mix it all for each type of plant.
Thank you for the video. I particularly enjoy the parts where you include some funny bloopers. And let me also complement you for your perfect English command! Why don't we all praise Sean for his English, shall we? English is not his mother tongue, but he speaks it fluently and you can hear the dramatic difference when you listen to the other guy from that crazy plant shop (in a positive way) at the end of the video. Thank you for your videos, Sean! They are always pleasure to watch, especially from cold autumn Russia!! 😁😁😁
.. The one before your scindapsus jade, is a philodendron silver sword.. .. And thank you so much for the extra treats from your garden center.. The scindapsus treubii marble moonlight Mr. Rico showed you, is called scindapsus "happy leaf" here.. The shape of the leaf is the only diffence from scindapsus marble queen..
I am in awe of the different scindapsis! And all the variegated from the bonus footage is beyond stunning. These are too expensive for a wishlist and will be dropped into a dream list. I cannot find the words to express how beautiful they are and how much I love them!
Thank you for the bonus footage .Wow never knew that such expensive scindapsus existed.Eventhough they are my favourite I can't bring myself to spend thousands of dollars on a plant. I'll just enjoy the most common ones that I own.
Well I overwatered my exotica and silver satin. I lost almost all my leaves. The roots and stem are healthy. I just repotted them and just put them under grow lights. I bought a beautiful trailing Scindapsus Jade with 3 sport variegation on 3 leaves. I also have Scindapsus Tricolor, Scindapsus Silver lady, Scindapsus Lucens They are such slow growers tho. I been collecting them. I have falling in love with Scindapsus.
Oh ,my goodness I love that video , having a bit of trouble growing my SCINDAPSUS , but watching your video I will tr6 to ge5 the hang of it. Thanks for sharing.😊
its so funny seeing those prices over there even tho its kind of old video. i have a jade satin variegated wich i really love. its really such a pleasure and so fun to explore different plants. in the houseplant market, i found most people go crazy about monsteras, philodendron, alocasias and stuff but some of the less popular species like scindapsus are so much more interesting to me because i see them less often
I have several types of them. I love all of them, but I think my Exotica is my favorite. It has really taken off lately and getting huge! I love how heavy and thick the leaves are.
This is the 1st video of yours that I’ve seen. Only 4 minutes in and I’ve already subscribed. Very informative, so impressed! Thank you! Looking forward to seeing more . . . ❤️
The wait is over. One of the most underrated genus in my opinion. Same with my regular pothos, I won't let them hang. I just kept on twirling them on top from their pot to look lush. 😁😁😁
I love scindapsus. I have lucens, exotica, jade satin, truebii moonlight, truebii dark form and just scored a HUGE trailing 8inch hanging basket of silver splash today. I agree with the propagation they are slow but when they take off they really take off! I also agree with the dark form. Mine has been a one leaf cutting for sooooooo long.
Thank you, Sean. This came right at the right time, as I just pulled my scindapsus trebuii moonlight out of soil because I was afraid I was going to lose it. I cut it up and am going to try propagating, so I’ll check out that video as well. And now I’m seeing many others to covet.
Aww I wish I knew what is the "unknown aroid" because i think I have one that I bought as "scindapsus blue"...I will keep looking and if I find out, will let you know :D
Wow thanks for sharing the extra footage of all the cool and rare scindapsus. They are so pretty! Some don’t even look like the usual scindapsus which is crazy! Hope the prices will come down some day! Hoping m silver lady will grow another leaf soon lol.
Hi Sean! Your splash doesn’t look like my splash. I was told they don’t have a silver border on the leaves. But also, what I love about the exotica is even though I grow it as a trailing plant, the leaves don’t get smaller. All the other ones do but not this one.
Amazing bonus footage! Thank you for showing all those rare scindapsus. I would never own one, but it’s a treat just to look! I’ll appreciate my trebuii moonlight, argyreus, silvery ann, and exotica :)
His little chuckle is akin to Mona Lisa’s smile hes giggling his way all the way to the bank. God bless instagram trends for making his life much more comfortable.
Scindapsus is one of the most beautiful, easy, and rewarding houseplants in my collection. They grow so quickly and they’re stunning! I ended up loving some of the more common varieties (jade satin, for example) and I’m kinda over the super slow-growing treubii dark form (I swear I’ve gotten 4 leaves in a year! 😂). As always, thanks for all the great information! ETA: Holy moly Mr. Rico’s collection!!! Wowza!
Scindapsus are one of my absolute favourite plants. I’m sooooo looking forward to getting many more varieties of them, but there still aren’t many on the market in Sweden 🇸🇪 right now. Thanks for sharing 😃🪴
Love these guys. Growing them up doesn’t seem to be popular in the US and a lot of people don’t even realize they are shingling. I’m growing mine on a board since the climate here isn’t suitable to yearound growth outdoors.
You're so adorable! Charismatic speaker! My first scindapsus was also Exotica but it's not as super silvery as the Sumatra variety. Mine is probably local (Philippine variety).
I love Scindapsus!! Some of those varieties are new to me. I have a Treubii Dark Form and you are not kidding when you say it’s a slow grower. It’s. So. Slow. But the leaves are so gorgeously dark! I was able to air layer it and I ended up using the cutting to trade and now I’m waiting for the new growth point to start up again. Your pot is incredibly full and lush! Mine is just 5 leaves. The price has come way down on it and I’m considering getting another vine just to be able to appreciate a few more leaves.
I love all the Shingling plants! I fallen in love with Scindapus just 2 months ago. My regular nursery gave me 8 pot (each pot has 4 plants with 4-12 leaves) of different scindapus for free 😂. I learnt so much and got the correct ID from Kalimantan Nursery. If I was not mistaken, the Silver Hero Paltinum is just Silver Hero. Scindapsus platinum is a different varieties that produces plain and prominent Platinum color without leave marking on it. It's very beautiful! For the Treubii I have 3 of them and boy it make me headache 😂. There's a green silvery one called Moonlight. The one with darker green nearly black called just Scindapsus Silver SP (some people debate it whether it comes from Kalimantan or Sumatra), and Treubii Black/Dark from which is my favourite after ZZ Raven black. There's also 2 different Tricolor varieties, Argyreus Tricolor and just Tricolor. The difference is Tricolor have more prominent Tricolor (obviously) than Argyreus Tricolor (which like a shy tricolor). I don't know which one is true, but I found out about Jade satin black form on E-commerce. But some people say that just Jade Satin sprayed with water. I don't have it yet, but I wish I could have the real one since I bought it from regular and trusty Kalimantan Nursery.
I'm trying to grow my collection in Barbados but it's really hard to find Scindapsus. I have Exotica, Siver splash and moonlight.. on the plus side they all grow very fast in the Tropics. Thanks for sharing Sean.....I need to find more.💚😊
Thankyou so much for showing the diff kinds of scindapsus. I do love the pattern on them. I have one and its in the greenhouse and not growing. Ill change soil mix to a more chunkier mix, hope this will fix it
14:52 I think this is Silver Hero as it is shiny. Silver Hero comes from Indonesia. Platinum shares almost the same level o silveriness however it's not shiny, rather matted and comes from Thailand. Both are gooooorgeoooussss! I'm still looking for a Silver Hero in nearby nurseries. Some were sold as Silver Hero but I am certain they are actually Platinum.
Your collection is so pretty!! I’m hoping to have some more soon! Right now, I just have the argeryeus, trebuii moonlight, and exotica. My argeryeus grows very quickly! I would love to collect some more, maybe a silver splash next :) I’m so inspired to research them more after watching your video!
That scindapsus Sumatra is gorgeous! Edit: The tricolor is amazing! That's a new one for me and now on my wishlist. Edit2: Uh, Mr. Rico's collection is beyond words. Also, I should probably not comment until I finish watching the entire video.
Thanks for a great presentation! I love your energy and enthusiasm presenting the varieties of scindapsus. I also appreciate your full command of English . Keep up the great work! Dane
Thank u for ur sharing especially the end episode.. Really beautiful variegated scindapsus, really caught my eyes.. 😍😘 Love u Sean for always keep sharing ur info to us🤗
Interesting. Some of these scindapsus look very different from what's being sold in the US. The Exotica's here tend to have a lot more silver where yours has almost bands of silver. And we see argyraeus that has lots of silver where all yours looked mainly green. Hi Sean, thank you for sharing your beautiful collection and a wonderful tour. Wising you a great business success and an ocean of happiness in your life.
When I first learned that 'Satin Pothos' isn't a Pothos, I was immediately turned off to the genus because I thought they'd be more difficult to care for. I try to save myself disappointment by avoiding difficult species, and try to focus on things like Pothos, Sansevieria, succulents etc. My dry climate makes most tropicals difficult to provide what they need, but I've seen several Scindapsus here, and I'll be picking up one soon thanks to this video! The rarer varieties you showed are crazy expensive; I'm not sure whether I should make fun of or respect those collectors who splurge on them. Stay healthy and well!
The early adopters of these expensive plants are usually nurseries and growers 😀 a very very small handful are ridiculously rich collectors. Its nice to observe this trade but not necessarily partake, but we can expect these rare plants to become common in a few years time. Scindapsus are actually as easy as pothos to care for 😀 they require a bit less water thats all.
You're lucky that you can call Scindapsus so easy :) but then on the other hand, they are at home in Indonesia... But I'm having some issues to keep them going. Mostly the hardest part is to find the correct light conditions, if they are getting too little light they tend to stop growing, if too much they run like crazy! I've had a 2 foot runner with no leaves on one of my plants...
How often do you fertilize? I find that when I’m getting unusually long runners (which I’ll just chop and prop), a little more food helps them to start putting out more leaves.
I truly love this plant. I am however a bit jelly of how rapid yours are growing. Las Vegas has the light, but not the humidity. Mine grow a leaf a month if I’m lucky ☺️ thank you for sharing
I've been searching videos of scindapsus on your videos. I just started following and subscribing to your channel last week i think. I am starting to collect scindapsus just this october. I love all of your videos and all of the infos you're sharing with us 🌱🌿🍃
I love these! Silver leaves that are easy to care for and grow like weeds. My favorite is the scindapsus pictus platinum (not the silver hero). The full silver leaves look different from every angle, so stunning! Some of those variegated ones tho look similar to marble queen or manjula or some other waaay cheaper dupes so I’ll pass 😂
I love all the Scindapdus plants but to many to collect with those prices I doubt we will ever see "rare" ones in the US. But I enjoyed seeing all the different ones, thank you.
Prices are absolutely ridiculous I don’t understand why everybody is hyped over variegation leaves especially when they just look sick to me. By the way I love watching your channel
Thank you for blessing us with the bonus footage~~ So many I've never seen before !!
They are all so beautiful too!! 😍
They will flood the markets in the years to come 😀
Wow! Hi Elaine hahahah

They are slow at first but once you have a decent length vine they actually put out a leaf every 10-14 days 😀
Thanks!

Oh ,my goodness I love that video , having a bit of trouble growing my SCINDAPSUS , but watching your video I will tr6 to ge5 the hang of it. Thanks for sharing.😊
❤️❤️ they are actually not very difficult plants once you have a bit of experience with them
The Scindapsus Snake scale is another beautiful plant. Love that Tricolor I really like when Scindapsus climbs.

Yeahh the prices were insane 😅 I cant believe people bought them.
I have several types of them. I love all of them, but I think my Exotica is my favorite. It has really taken off lately and getting huge! I love how heavy and thick the leaves are.
Ouuu yes and they are so soothing to have around.
Hi this is Anna , I have had 3sets ot them slowly died just ordered again 3” pot hope I do better, or get the hang off how to take care of them☺️🙂
@@annalawton8163 when in doubt do not water. They like to go dry a bit. good luck!
Scindapsis are my favorites along with hoya. Don't see many of the ones you've shown other than exotica , treubii silvery anne.

Of course you will see them in the US. Costa farms is probably producing them now 😅
Oh my goodness!!! So beautiful.
This was wonderful to watch. Thank you! Best wishes from NZ 🇳🇿👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌱☺️

Hi Shaun(or Shawn or Sean? Not sure how to spell your name ) I just got into scindapsus. Excited to have them!
Its Sean 😀 its nice to collect them Slowly and sustainably. Save the expensive ones for when their prices fall
All of your plants look so healthy!
Beautiful collection of scindapsus.
Prices are absolutely ridiculous I don’t understand why everybody is hyped over variegation leaves especially when they just look sick to me. By the way I love watching your channel
Is it me or, do they look like pothos? I can't see spending thousands of dollars on 3 leaves.
paola delvalle they grow pretty similar to pothos, but they will grow huge leaves and vines, they don’t stay small
Albo variation is my favorite. To each his own.
An additional video is superb the varigation i really love it
Absolutely love scindapsus
