    I've been meaning to film a Phildendron pink princess care video for a while now. I got my pink princess as a cutting just over a year ago, and in the time that I've had her she's turned into a bit of a beast (in the best possible way). These house plants are absolutely gorgeous, really easy to care for and such an unusual plant to have in your collection.
    I really hope this plant care / tips and tricks video helps, but any questions at all please do comment down below and I'll get back to you!

      Honestly, this specific pink princess was the first one I ever saw that made me think " oh yea, I get it now!" ,but I think it's tue size and maturity of the leaves. For some reason I don't ever see them at that size in the U.S.🤷 if you go back and look at the pic of her original cutting, it was already a much larger leaf than the leaves on the cuttings I see floating around in the U.S.! And since then, I've noticed the same thing on other channels from the U.K., E.U and Australia. They're gorgeous!

      @@laurenervin1404 I'd take a guess and say it's because our countries aren't as bright as the US (so we're not as weary about light), combined with higher general humidity.
      I live in the UK and just stick my plants in the brightest area (currently have 16 all on my west windowcil) I have available and I've never had any problems with burning.

      @@sandy_carpetsthesecond5013 That's interesting! I hadn't thought about the higher general humidity thing! That combined with less harsh light makes a lot of sense! Cool!

      @@laurenervin1404 Yeah. My plants get like, 8 hours of direct sunlight from 2PM till around 9:30PM- Though, that could partially be because I placed them on the window cil late winter, so they had a significantly easier time adapting to the summer lighting conditions due to the gradual increase in light over the spring.

My Lounge is very warm and humid every day and my plants are absolutely thriving 😍 but I need to find new places for them now as they're getting too big 😅 no grow lights, I make my own plant food and water maybe once every 8-10 days but not drenching them.

    Yeees, I've noticed a shift in using my aquarium water vs fresh tap water as well!
    First of all, you have to change your water anyway. So I always water my plants with the dirty water and save some for top ups.
    I also always stick my propagations in my tanks. I get roots way faster than in a jar or similar. I think due to the constant movement and quality of the water. 😊
    Every now and then I will also add some fertilizer still, but always 3/4 diluted of the recommended dose and not with every watering.
    I place my plants in their nursery pots in the bathtub, water until it comes out the bottom, let them drain and put them back😄

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's just brilliant isn't it!? Oooh I didn't think to propagate in it, but that's a great tip - I'll definitely give it a go. Thank you 💚

    Perfect timing! I just got my first little pink princess this week and I am so excited to see her grow. Although she has a small transparent patch (not white) on one of her leaves that I’m concerned about? I really hope it’s nothing bad. Also would really love to see a video all about air-layering too!

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So long as the transparent bit isn't affecting more than that little patch then I wouldn't worry to much. It's often caused by overwatering, so if you notice it on any of the other leaves I'd suggest checking the roots to make sure they're in good condition (it might be worth doing that anyway if you're in any doubt) 💚

    Thanks for mentioning plants like to be left in a spot once you’ve found it! This is the best advice I’ve found. It may take while to find that spot but I once moved a plant from where it was thriving just for decorating reasons…BIG MISTAKE! I learned my lesson. It took me a year to find another spot it liked - and a lot of near misses with it almost dying. Now I am leaving it where it is thriving once more. Hi Clair! Have gotten so much help from your videos - thank you!
    I am wondering if you could give some examples of damage that can be caused by cold drafts ☺️ I have a white princess which has started to get curly leaves (especially the big, top ones..). The leaves have gone a bit faded yellowish as well (both spots and a bit spread). I have checked it thoroughly for pests, but couldn’t find any, so I don’t think that’s the issue. On the other hand I have placed it close to a door and there has been some colder days here in Norway. Does this sound like issues you could get from cold drafts? I just got it a couple of weeks ago. I have only reported it to pon and watered regularly.

Would this treats water still be okay to water the plants with?

    That’s amazing I trying to get my PP to mature and have large leaves like yours , I gave them both a lazy pole to help . Very nice my Goal’s 💕💕💕💕💕 I wonder if starting with a large mature leaf n node if that helps , I ordered one and they upgraded me to a small rooted plant . But I really wanted the large leaf .

      Mine started really quite small to be fair, but a pole definitely helps! Lots of light, humidity and a good quality fertiliser have definitely helped to do the trick (and fishtank water if you can get it) 💚

    Lovely PPP. Can I ask how does your moss pole stay put? I’m not good with that. Had one in mine but it started to lean and I had to pull it out. Any tips on that would be great! Thank you

    I just bought a pink princess! When did you start having it climb on the coco pole? What inch pot was it in when u did. Do you keep the pole moist? I AM NERVOUS.

    I LOVE your pink Princess
    Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!
    This has been my dream plant for years and I just recently found one at a local green house and me and my daughter both purchased one less than a month ago. My very first leaf was starting to grow I was beyond excited 🥰 Unfortunately something went wrong
    It started unwinding at the stem and there was a large gap where the rest of the leaf apeard to be stuck. I eventually helped the leaf out because it was in such a bind. Unfortunately my new leaf had been in such a bind that it had already broke.
    I really don't want to do the wrong thing so I have just left the new steam. Do I just leave it??? Or cut it off???
    I'm also going to repot it out of the small nursery plastic container what soil do you recommend?
    Thank you in advance
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Natalie

      Natalie, you can try spraying trapped leaves with water or even putting a wet cotton ball over them as they unfurl. This is a common issue we all have!!

    • @DollyMat
      @DollyMat ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this is a really common issue with pink Princess. It's due to lack of humidity. I released two leaves on two separate plants last Sunday. You should spray or wet them first then use a cotton bud to gently coax them out. If you notice it stuck you can't leave it too long or they will snap before unfurling.

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I sometimes use a damp cotton bud to help them a little bit if I think they're going to be damaged unfurling 💚

    Yeah, I live in Denmark and only have south and north facing windows. All the "bright indirect light" plants get put in south-facing windows in the winter months. The sun really doesn't have any juice in the winter nor is it even up for more than 6hrs.

    *pulls out notebook* quick q, where do you get your tall skinny coir poles? I feel like mine needs some support very soon but I don't really want to use a moss one as I'm not sure it would root into it...

    I feel like my ppp I just bought it’s pretty lengthy at the bottom. I need to upsize the pot but if I do, I’m risking putting the areol roots in the soil and getting root rot.
    The lengthyness is about 3-4 inches long all filled with nodes/areol roots, do I chop the stem and make new roots in water??? I really don’t want to chop her off 😢
