Drove 30 minutes to my favorite nursery. Saw an exotica but passed it up due to the price. Drove home and immediately regretted not making the purchase. Took another 30 minute drive and got her! THAT’S how amazing this plant is! 😍
When watering your plants, tip the pot 45 degrees to drain in order to remove the excess water retained in the bottom layer. This will help prevent overwatering and this is most important in the winter.
Protip for the Europeans in the comment section: the Exotica is called Trebie over here! So happy I found out about that, I couldn't find an Exotica for the life of me :'')
Oh my gosh, this is perfect timing! I literally ordered a Scindapsus Exotica after seeing yours last week. It should arrive tomorrow! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Ran over here after I roasted mine on my south side of my house. I'm so used to my light-hogging pothos and syngonium plants that I shocked the poor guy! It's so helpful to hear you even keep yours in a north window, meaning I don't need to be panicked about moving him back a good bit across the room. I forget how far light travels! I know this is an older video, but the tips are still appreciated
I recommend using a brand called Fish Sh!t. My local plant store recommended it to me and I have to say it is AWESOME. I’m seeing fantastic growth with my houseplants since I started using it and it seems more convenient than liquid dirt. You just use a drop in a gallon of water. The Fish Sh!t itself smells but once you dilute it in the gallon it has no smell whatsoever. Triple checked with various house members🤓🌱🍄
I only have north windows and supplement with grow lights. Scindapsus, hoya and african violets are what thrive best for me. All of my scindapsus do amazing in leca. I don't give them a water reservoir and just soak them for a couple hours and drain them every 2 weeks.
Agree my plants were up next to a west window and they were always curled and hated it but now they are about 8 feet back and they are growing super fast especially with the higher humidity and the leaves on my exotica are getting massive with all the humidity 🥰
I own an argyreus and a silvery ann. The silvery ann is hanging in a south window and its living her best life! She is 50/50 silver/green its soooo gorgeous 🤩
Very informative. I love your voice. Not shrill, not too loud or high pitched. You're very well informed about houseplants and you're very interesting.
I just got an exotica yesterday. It was an unrooted cutting from etsy so I chopped it up and hopefully will have 5 new ones. Its everything I hoped for. So happy I found out this plant exists
My exotica is next to a south window and gets a couple hours of direct light in the afternoon and it loves it! It’s grown sooo much. It was the first plant I got that had roots growing out the bottom in no time
This video came at the perfect time, I just got an exotica this week! Yours looked so beautiful so I got one... literal definition of I saw Harli G has an exotica so I got an exotica LOL
I just got one yesterday! They're in high demand apparently, I was able to get a 4in... super tiny so I am definitely going to take care of it and can't wait for it to mature!
I love Scindapsus! Especially Exotica. Mine is under a purple grow light that most of my plants don't care for and give me puny winter leaves. Not lady Exotica. She grows slower in this situation but puts out consistently beautiful leaves. My best to you and your family...love hearing that baby in the background.
18:03 Love the US Jade Satin! We have some jade satins in the Philippines but they are way smaller than the US Jade. I have both the Philippine Jade Satin and the Philippine Dark Satin. Both produce small leaves and I find them very hard to propagate. They have woody stems that hate being cut. I should have done the bobby pin method instead of chopping them. You have the perfect specimen of a US Jade Satin!
Scindapsus are my favorite genus right now. I do find, tho, that they all have different care. I did a stupid and put 4 varieties of Scindapsus in a big plant box and they all behave differently. My exotica is so hearty and forgiving. The Silvery Ann and Argyerus are thirstier and more delicate. I probably should have planted just the Jade Satin with the Exotica since they’re so tough. My Treubii, moonlight and dark, are just so so special. Great video!
I just got my second scindapsus, the silver satin. It's so gorgeous! I also have the argyraeus (I think, or the silvery Anne?). Definitely some of my favourites in my collection!
Yesss to liquidirt I have been using it for a year and it’s amazing and I’m still on the frost pouch I bought and I have a large collection so it’s well worth the money!! Everyone go get some liquidirt you won’t regret it! Your propagations will root super fast also! It’s all around amazing!!
My exotica is about four feet from an east-facing window (so bright indirect light). We try to keep the humidity at or above 50%, and I water when a few leaves look like they're going to curl -- soil is always dry when I do. It's doing fine, looks beautiful, I named her Jolene. But she isn't really growing that fast. I've only had her since the summer.
20 mins on scindapsus is OK by me. I am fascinated by this plant. It is so beautiful in 100 different ways. Some with borders of silver and everything shimmers. In Australia, silvery anne, moonlight, jade, silver lady are collectors' items at ridiculous prices. I'll have to do without. In fact, scindapus is not always easy to find for sale, though it will appear at certain times of year. My best performer is silver splash with vines to the floor. I think I have a few very different looking plants of s. splash - so interesting to compare them. Argyreus also does well, but grows more slowly. Exotica is hard to find, but I did find a few in a local (huge) nursery at a good price. I find it a slow grower and the leaves get progressively smaller. I covet yours. . I have never had any probs with these plants. Like you said, I just wait for the leaves to droop. Water propagation has been touch and go for me. I can get it to root, but it often droops/dies when transitioning to soil.
I keep my Scindapsus Splash in the darkest corner of my room. I've found it's the ONLY way it won't revert. Mine was being sold as an Exotica, but I noticed the Splash leaves. I cut up propagated the Exotica parts and they were visibly Splash again.
I always thought scindapsis were ugly, because every specimen I saw in people's homes were so stringy and leggy. Yours were the only exception! So when I saw an exotica at the grocery store with absolutely enormous leaves, I nabbed it. Love that plant!
Scindapsus is my favorite genus! I now have four varieties and have been working on rooting exotica, which I finally got some of the cuttings to do in a Leca prop box. I’m super happy to hear it really does like low light. I’ve seen my Silvery Ann needs more light to maintain the silver. Jade Satin is top of my wishlist and I’m also happy to hear this is an easier care (at least for you!) plant I can’t get enough of dark, velvety sheen foliage!!!
OMG! This is weird! I just noticed my beloved 12 year old Exotica starting to yellow. You know how the leaves slowly start fading? Not the partial yellowing you have. The entire leaf eventually becomes translucent. You made my day with this vid!
I have my exotica a little ways back from a west facing window. So far, so good. I have my argryaeus is in a east facing window. I've only had it for a week or so. It seems happy.
Thank you for this video scindapsus are my current favorite and I’m on the hunt for more varieties !!!! Side note - I kept thinking my daughter woke up while watching this, and then I finally realized that it’s baby Kai Kai!
My aureus (I also have no idea how to say it) has been growing well but the leaves are curly. I'll not water it for a bit. My exotica is slow growing. Is has several shoots but not trailing. Once I get some hanging I'm going to prop it and replant in pot.
Thanks Harli! Were you going to include a link to your prop box video? I'm very interested to hear that you can get new plants from nodes without leaves. Should I wait until spring to try a project like that? I heard that propagation works best in spring or summer. We live in Seattle and keep the apartment about 65 degrees in the winter. Now I need to declutter to make more room for plants! Love your scindapsis collection.
I in in western WA also. I started a bunch from bare stems, cut them up and stuck them in water in a South window, but lots of shade from trees. I think only one didn't root. Give it a try.
I purchased an exotica about 3 weeks ago. Watered it once and Rotherham leaves started to curl under pretty bad. I misted it thinking it needed humidity but nothing happened. So I repotted it and the soil was moist so I added some dry soil to the mix in hopes it would do better. Crossing my fingers
My exotica is small and I've learned that I've overwatered several times because I've had to cut several yellow leaves off :( I'm not usually an overwaterer and use a moisture meter so I was really surprised, thanks for the video!
I just got an argyraeus like 2 days ago, i think its my fave plant in my collection! 😍 ive watched a few videos but unfortunately everyones weather conditions are very different than mine so ive just been winging it with basically all of my plant so 🤞🏼
My baby exotica i put outside the house under the roof which is very bright indirect sunrise but they are doing very well and i never transfer them to my own soil mixing (warm casting, orchid bark, peatmoss mix with coco coir, horticulture charcoal and perlite) since i got its still in nursery pot and mine they are so thirsty plant when i put outside i water like once a week
I have one, it’s slow growing. It’s in a south facing window it is not burning or anything but not growing very fast. I think I will move it to a north window & see if it’s happier. Thanks!
So weird i have one that i bought from lowes and it was basically just cuttings in soil and it took forever to start growing. I moved her directly in front of my patio door on a macrame hanger and its finally been growing like crazy. Its in the direct sun in the morning tho from maybe 7 am to 10 am then its just bright light the rest of the day. Not sure if its a good thing but she looks like shes enjoying it !
I took a cutting of mine to my workplace, after propagating it in water, and it’s doing much better than the one at home. The one at work does not receive any natural light and only watering once a week. The one at home - for some reason I can never figure out it’s preference of watering so I always have to save it through water propagation. I love this plant because of its beauty but it’s harder than I anticipated.... BUT it hasn’t completely died on me yet... 🤞
Loved this video!! As a newbie, very helpful that you rank in difficulty level and so many tips on how to have them do well. I will be looking for the exotica! Side note, also will be looking for that type of hair tie, it's super cute
I love scindapsus because of Harli! Bought the first scindapsus I could find locally and I was told it was a silver splash. Now I'm worried it'll lose it's splashiness!
I bought a tiny segment that’s In a cute vase for propagation of the exotica and I wasn’t sure why the leaves are always curled. I’m going to put it in soil tomorrow
Harli G: 'forgets' about the Jade Satin tucked away on the bottom in a corner of the (lovely) plant room and calls it pretty basic... Me: been trying to get a hold of one here in Belgium for several months but only found a single leaf cutting twice that was being sold for € 80
I came here because i have a Moonlight that I've had for 3 years. It's by far my most challenging houseplant. I have a small pothos collection and a variety of other types. Moonlight is my only scindapsus. It will look happy in one place for months, then suddenly, it'll look like it's dying. I feel sure that I'll eventually lose the whole plant, despite my best efforts. When it looks good, it's very pretty, though 😂
Thank you for this video bc it's perfect!! I just killed a scindapus pictus cutting after putting it in soil and just purchased a new one. I hope with your tips I don't kill this new plant!! 😁💜
The Exotica and the Argyreus are pretty common here in the Netherlands. But I don't think I ever saw a Silver Lady or Moonlight here, but I'm living in the north of the Netherlands so I don't know if they are maybe more common in garden centers around our capital city.
I am glad to know it’s not just me with getting moonlight to root! I bought 10 cuttings of different scindapsis and philodendron and that is the only one that still hasn’t rooted.
Mine is dying. I even repotted some cuttings that were doing great and the mother plant is still dying. I left her outside and she can do what she wants too at this point. I may have to purchase another.
Here's a link to liquidirt plant food!
amzn.to/2VFsoKZ
Thanks Harli
there are worm castings in the liquidirt :)
Thank you so much! I’ve been waiting for a link for a while now lol I never knew which one was the right fertilizer you were always talking about😅
What happened to the Scindapsus Lucens?!
thank youuu!
Drove 30 minutes to my favorite nursery. Saw an exotica but passed it up due to the price.
Drove home and immediately regretted not making the purchase.
Took another 30 minute drive and got her!
THAT’S how amazing this plant is! 😍
I did that with cebu. No regerts
How much was it ??

I do this. ☺️☺️
It`s true. You gotta do it !
Do I own a scindapsus? No. Dig I watch because of Harli? Absolutely
love you (:
Want one of these plants so bad ahhhhhh
Can I just say how beautiful and smooth Harli’s skin is looking these past few days?! I mean, OMG! Gorgeous!
Wow, thank you!
Your exotica is one of my favorites of all your plants. It is so beautiful.
*gets up and moves my exotica away from the window*
I literally have mine hanging in my south window 😢
Lol!! Me too!
Mine loves my south window. I do keep a light filtering curtain on my window so no direct sun but it’s very happy.
me rn!
hahaha im dead
Protip for the Europeans in the comment section: the Exotica is called Trebie over here!
So happy I found out about that, I couldn't find an Exotica for the life of me :'')
And scindapsus treubii is moonlight
Wow, I just commented about my confusion and if they are the same plant 😅🤣 Thanks for your comment! 💚
I always thought the Trebie is a hybrid? I sure it is just a synonym name for the exotica?
Oh! Thank you, I was confused about the names!
I have 8 varieties and I want them ALL. my favorite genus of all time
AGREED where have you had success getting the more rare varieties??
Me too..I have 5 working on getting them all!!! Good hunting to you

Put some willow branches in jar with hard-to-root plants. Willow produces lots of natural rooting hormon - the same that other plants use!
We love a glowing queen 👑
My best friend got one from her mom at thanksgiving and I just sent her this link! Great timing!!! 🪴
Very informative. I love your voice. Not shrill, not too loud or high pitched. You're very well informed about houseplants and you're very interesting.
How convenient I literally just received a scindapsus exotica in the mail this morning! 😌💚
Enjoy !♡
Jelous! I want scindapsus so bad
I just got an exotica yesterday. It was an unrooted cutting from etsy so I chopped it up and hopefully will have 5 new ones. Its everything I hoped for. So happy I found out this plant exists
Interesting so the silver splash will revert to the exotica? I was always wondering why it was hard to tell them apart but now I see!
My exotica is next to a south window and gets a couple hours of direct light in the afternoon and it loves it! It’s grown sooo much. It was the first plant I got that had roots growing out the bottom in no time

I did skillshare once for another youtuber. They really are helpful and are there for you on a daily basis....including weekends!
Edit...not a paid promotion. Lol
They’re so beautiful 🥺 I might just have to gift it to myself for Christmas lol
Took a month to acclimate 😰, and I’m in love with her even though she is ridiculously dramatic. Lol
I have a silvery ann and it is the fastest growing plant I own. It’s beautiful, I want to get more of them.
Thank you for the video.
Your skin is GLOWING 🥰

I had no idea there were so many varieties- they are all uniquely beautiful
pleeease do more care videos!! maybe some on more rare plants? i love learning about your experiences and hearing your insight :)
More to come!
I LOVE your scindapsus collection, Harli! What type of soil do you recommend? Light and airy like other pothos? Or one that retains more water? 🤔
Good question and I would also like to know what size pot that large exotica is in.
It's in a 6inch
Light & airy (:
These are your best videos, just you talking endlessly about your plants! Love me some Harli wisdom 💕
I just got my second scindapsus, the silver satin. It's so gorgeous! I also have the argyraeus (I think, or the silvery Anne?). Definitely some of my favourites in my collection!
Just bought a silver satin, thanks for this video! Every time I buy a plant I watch your channel for care.
Congrats on the new baby!!❤
I got my 1st scindapsus today. Thank so know where it will need to live now.
It's so good!
@@HarliG yes it is! 👍🏻♥️
That argyreus with the legs for days. Lol
HAHAHA

I live in a tropical climate. I found that less light they get less white spot they get. It works fine for argyraeus.

I love the closeup of the leaves you did
Just got my first one! Glad to look back through your videos to find a care vid ❤️
I think i will have to try and find one.
I have my exotica a little ways back from a west facing window. So far, so good. I have my argryaeus is in a east facing window. I've only had it for a week or so. It seems happy.
My Scindapsus Exotica has the largest leaves by far. I love that Jade one. So velvety! 🤩
Thank you! I love scindapsus and wasn't aware so many varieties. I will try the prop box with spagnum to get more!
Thank you for this video scindapsus are my current favorite and I’m on the hunt for more varieties !!!! Side note - I kept
thinking my daughter woke up while watching this, and then I finally realized that it’s baby Kai Kai!
Yes! Thank you! I can't seem to keep them alive but I also keep buying them and try again!

Thanks Harli! Were you going to include a link to your prop box video? I'm very interested to hear that you can get new plants from nodes without leaves. I in in western WA also. I started a bunch from bare stems, cut them up and stuck them in water in a South window, but lots of shade from trees. I think only one didn't root. Give it a try.
Thank you so much ! I’ve been looking for an updating scindapsis video. They are on my top 3 list for sure!
Your exotica is what got me into plants this year! It’s my fav. I have a baby one.
My exotica is small and I've learned that I've overwatered several times because I've had to cut several yellow leaves off :( I'm not usually an overwaterer and use a moisture meter so I was really surprised, thanks for the video!
Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you were able to figure it out!

YOURE SO PRETTY HARLI🥺😍
I'm dying for a silver lady! I think they're one of the prettiest scindapsus
I kept exotica in east direction outside , all summer , now it has big big leaves. And watering alternate days.
Ahhh! I couldn’t tell if my silvery Anne was a silvery Anne or not, but this was helpful! It has been confirmed lol
Harli G: 'forgets' about the Jade Satin tucked away on the bottom in a corner of the (lovely) plant room and calls it pretty basic...

Scindapsus are generally uncommon in Canada right now, although I think they're starting to come onto the market commercially!
Hard to find any varieties in stores. I ended up buying an unrooted cutting
Definitely gonna get a scindapsus exotica as soon as I've move to my new house
Do you have your exotica in a plastic or ceramic pots?
Thank you for this video bc it's perfect!! I just killed a scindapus pictus cutting after putting it in soil and just purchased a new one. I hope with your tips I don't kill this new plant!! 😁💜
I took cuttings of my scindapsus exotica and I want to try to get it to shingle on a board 🤞🏻
The Exotica and the Argyreus are pretty common here in the Netherlands. But I don't think I ever saw a Silver Lady or Moonlight here, but I'm living in the north of the Netherlands so I don't know if they are maybe more common in garden centers around our capital city.
I have cuttings of a Silver Pothos scindaptus in water right now. Excited for them to watch them root!
You are the best. I love your videos! Great sponsor too!
that satin jade looks amazing😩 will definately keep my eyes open for this one😍
I am glad to know it’s not just me with getting moonlight to root! I bought 10 cuttings of different scindapsis and philodendron and that is the only one that still hasn’t rooted.
I love Scindapsus Harli and this video!🌿
Mine is dying. I even repotted some cuttings that were doing great and the mother plant is still dying. I left her outside and she can do what she wants too at this point. I may have to purchase another.
