    Been using 2 3/4 top gun hulls with 17.5gr longshot PT20 low profile gas seal, PT2091 wad with 3/4 oz number 4 steel shot, # 4 is the largest shot size I’ve used with it, pellet count with BB’s in light 20 gauge is low, 4 and smaller shot is most effective in my experience. Thanks for the update on upcoming videos, don’t blame y’all for not running bb through a full choke 20 guage !

    Good job as always! Those were some nice looking crimps! Got a Lee Load-All 2 16ga. coming tomorrow. Bought off E-bay for $70 brand new! Can't wait to start using it! Thanks again!

    Must of read my mind. Just loaded a box up with the claybusters (WAA clone) wad the other night, otherwise the same load, used paper over the powder to keep the powder from migrating. havent put across the chronograph yet but if you reduce the payload to 15/16 oz you get 1275 FPS out of a 28 in barrel. Would however like to see what you get with those loads just to compare with. More 20 GA 2 3/4 content based on hunting loads is much needed, very few are out there and dumbtube is not helping on this issue. Thank you for what you do.

    People spread much bad information on the Lee Press. My friend loaded for years on 2 of them an just like you had beautiful crimps, technique and knowledge prove that these presses do a good job. I loved your video, but would like to see you wear safety glasses just in case of a mishap, thankyou.

    Just had a few loads tested in a lab. One of them was a 1 ounce 20 gauge load in 2-3/4"... I wanted the heaviest/fastest loads I could do. Goal was 1300 FPS.
    2.75" Cheddite hull
    CX2000 primer
    21 grains Longhsot
    TC20 (commander)
    1 ounce #7.5 magnum lead
    Fold crimp.
    1295 FPS.
    11,700 PSI

      @@theshotgunscientists would make a great field load for pretty much any game bird... Your 19 grains is great because it can be loaded universally in a variety of hulls, get 1200-ish FPS and be in safe working pressures regardless of the shell it's in.

    Thank you for the "heads-up" the BP2092 wads. I've been loading with the PT2092 wads, but getting low & can't find them anymore. I reload 2-3/4" 20ga Super-X shells, PT2092 wad cut to 1.6", w/19gr Longshot, 7/8oz #6 steel shot, w/overshot card. This works great for shooting clays.

    I guess BP says you need to cut the little slits that hold the 2092 wads together. I seen that in their description on the wad on the site.

      They open just fine for me when we shoot them but I guess lower velocity loads might not allow them to open

    Just to clarify terminology, a “game” load is for killing wild game, not for playing a game.

    I have had a lee load all2 for yrs and notice you do not meter your powder or shot through yours. Is this because you are constantly changing components? I never meter through the press either because I have found it to be very unreliable in that department. I can never get the same powder drop or shot drop from one load to the next.

    • @theshotgunscientists
      @theshotgunscientists  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t mass reload shells is why I don’t use it. If I’m loading a bunch of the same thing I’ll use it though. I just used it yesterday for some 1 1/4 ounce 16 gauge loads actually.

    If you take a lighter and warm up the gas seal ,then press it against a flat metal surface it give a nice flair without the pliers. I think an old electric iron would work well too 😊

    A quick fix to your press...you need a screw thru the post into the plastic base...the new lee load alls have this screw...the older models do not..I have an older 12ga & 20ga that had that same problem....drill a small pilot hole then a 1" #8 hex head screw will do it...

    • @theshotgunscientists
      @theshotgunscientists  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mines a new model with the screw you’re talking about, but the hole in the post for the screw is badly worn out itself. The post itself needs replaced.
