I bought an auto ZL1 1-2months ago. ZL1 is not that crazy though it can easily break every known speed limit without thinking about it. It's a normal car in good conditions, but it becomes a handful in heavy rain (tramlines and yet feels like it wants to hydroplane) I find visibility to not be as bad as people think, but I've also had many hours and miles in a C7. The "visibility issue" is something folks parrot when they need filler. The car literally has "blind spot monitoring". If you can't safely and easily drive this car you need a bus pass.
All the "issues" that people have with this car have nothing to do with any of the reasons you buy a performance car like this or my 2018 2SS Hot Wheels Edition. The blind spot monitoring works well, GM added a rear view camera back in 19 or 20 to help with the blinds spots, I have used my back seats multiple times in a bind, and the interior, though cheaper in places (especially for ZL1 money), has a good design to it and every touch point, at least in my car, is either suede or leather. I was on the back end of a "longish" drive (approx. 100 miles) over to my hometown and was traversing some of the old roads we used to hot rod on as teen boys back in the 70's. One was a curvy rural road with some high speed sweepers and a couple decent straights. A ZL1 pulled out in front of me and I thought that was cool as it's a rare car. I followed from a polite distance for a while and then figured I wanted to go at a faster pace so I went to pass him, when I got my nose next to him he stood on his go pedal and as there was traffic coming i had to make a quik decision what to do. I decided I'd put my go pedal all the way down too and when I went past him I could see the look of WTF on his face. I then slowed down as the road wasn't as rural as it had been in my day and when the road ended at a stop sign the ZL1 had caught up to me. After he got a good look at my model nomenclature on my rear facia and given there was no traffic ahead after my left turn I wasn't sure if he'd want to try to repass me so I pulled out at a modest pace to see what he had in mind. He just followed at a polite distance until I turned for my way home and he went the other way (a guy who owns a 2019 Porsche GT2 RS).
The steering is butter smooth on tour, the engine start, idle, and driving sounds alot louder than most Tang's in my opinion. Only thing I hate about the 22 cam is 3mpg fuel efficiency when you hit the gas and it's hard to hear the charger whine in it, other than that it's so smooth .
Everyone looks for different things in a car, personally I do a lot of performance and body panel mods so as long as the frames straight and all the major components of the drive train is alright, its more than good enough for me. But the market is still ludicrous right now so hard to find good deals that are inflated.
For the love of God. You're driving a car that for the money out performs anything $30,000 more expensive. All you're talking about is the plastic dash!!!!!!! Move on, please!!!!!!!!
I got lucky and brought my 2021 ZL1 Shock colored before the price jumps. The camera rear view mirror is a must for these cars. For a muscle car it's better than a hellcat for sure. The ZL1 is fast in a straight line and on track too. The biggest problem is storage. The inside is compact and you don't have much room.
I prefer the challenger over the camaro currently, which sucks because I am a GM guy. Always drove GM but it seems like ever since oldsmobile was dropped they havent made to many fun cars that you dont have to sell you kidney to get.
I'm personally on the otherside of the new vs used. If it's a daily, used is the way to go. If you are buying a sports car, get that thing new. I'm even more skeptical of a sports car that's been traded in with less than 10k miles. Who knows how rough they were on the car during the break in period if they were planning on not keeping it.
I have avoided buying used cars for quite some time now. The way I see it is if I can't afford it new, then I'm not going to try to buy it used. The last used car I ever bought, I bought privately and was disgusted to find boogers all over the top of the drivers side window. Not only that, but imagine how much fart residue is imbedded inside the seat cushion. You're technically sitting in someone else's butt particles. With this car being a salvage, what are the odds that the driver caked their pants in the accident? Just something else to consider.
I have a '19 ZL1 1LE with ARH two inch (IIRC) headers and full ARH exhaust. Stock SC pulley, Roto Cold air intake and Vibrant Exhaust. Stock tune but working on it. Tuners are estimating 580 - 610 wheel hrsprs. Still gotta address a few spark and fuel upgrades just for lean sake. I agree the interiors in these things were not priority number one at GM. You can hear faint creeking noises on hard cornering, especially the end-caps on the dash where they meet the door. The interior is built as good as anything else but its the garbage materials that were used that just kill it for everyone. Fun fast car with amazing handling out of the box. Its forgiving enough for beginner drivers of high horse rear drive cars. Inexperienced drivers should really get a V6 Camaro, Challenger or Mustang and drive it around for a solid year before jumping into something like a ZL1, Red Eye or an uprated Mustang. The ZL1 is easily the best handling out of the bunch and Red Eyes and Mustangs are horrible handling cars to learn on.
Currently driving a 2SS after coming from a Challenger. At 6ft, I will admit, I do miss the (extra) space that the boat had, but the Camaro isn't bad. I will also admit that there are some blind spots but visibility isn't nearly as bad as what people make it out to be. It just takes some getting used to. Also, back seat and trunk space shouldn't be that much of a concern. It's basically a two-seater, you know what you're getting into. lol. Overall, I love the car though. It's one of the coolest vehicles I've ever owned in my opinion.
I have a 5th Gen ZL1 and I love it. The 6th Gen is a big step up for sure. These are definitely a ton of performance for the dollar….God Bless America 🇺🇸
It's quite literally a budget supercar. Impractical, radiculous power from a 6.2l V8, great on track, rather better to leave stock, but the interior quality is where it is budget.
You could always trade it in the future if you ever get tired of that WRX. I had a 2018 Camaro Zl1 till it got rear ended and totaled. It was amazing. I always think about that Camaro 🥲.
i’m 16 rn looking to save up for a used camaro, i don’t really want the newest one because it will be my first car, but it is my dream car. i’m thinking about going for one between 2013-2015. the reason i’m looking into a camaro for my first car is only because i don’t have any bills to pay yet and my thought process was that if i can save money now and afford my dream car now, why wait until i have a whole bunch of finances to pay in the future? the number one thing i’m hearing about in these cars is that they are kinda wide, are hard to park, and they have no visibility which is the things keeping me from getting it. a lot of ppl tell me i dont need a fast car as my first but tbh i really just like the look of the car, i dont really care about the speed and all of that because i’ll mainly be using it to get to school and work. i know that it has a smaller interior and not much leg room but i’m gonna be the only one driving it and i also know that insurance on this car will be expensive because i am young and this is a more expensive car. i just wanted to know any tips i need to know from camaro owners or any things i should look out for before deciding to go with this car. (aside from visibility, the expenses, and how cramped the car is)
Bought a 2.0t 1le. Best handling car I’ve ever driven, and with a tune Im right at 400hp. Haven’t even spent 2k in modifications. It’s lighter than the other Camaros and has the same suspension upgrades. Insurance won’t kill you either
Bro all you do is rearrange your side mirrors and we have blind spot detectors. Lol I’m 22 and I own a 18 zl1. We are not known for crashing lol. Best interior made by Chevy in my opinion. Feels like you’re in a fighter jet
Lmfao I have a 2018 ZL1 and a cop pulls me over just to ask “Honestly man, I just wanted to know if I could get a few pictures?”🤣 lmfao I said “do you wanna just sit it it or drive it?”🤣🤣
had a camaro ss & now currently own a rocketbunny 350z i personally enjoyed the ss alot more everyone seems to enjoy tuners more though probably because of the hype .
I dont get the tuner hype. Honestly if we were still putting out carbed engines here I feel like American Muscle would be way more popular among the youth. Nothing beats the sound of a 4bbl big block chevy engine
Had one. 2021 w a10 transmission, wild cherry. Traded down for an Suv. I would've gotten stopped for speeding eventually. But what a experience on the senses.
Best performance bang for the buck out there. We don't buy coupes for their utility or practicality. The ZL1 is much more than big hp numbers. If I was in the market, it would be high on my list
I'm in a car club and one of the members owns one of these, she dunks on all of us, it's a Camaro so it's not super interesting but my stance boi VW can't keep up like at all, she fast.
I think lo mile 1 owner cars are worth it on something that is difficult to find clean examples of. Like EF or EG civic are all destroyed so finding something with decent paint and no dents is impossible id rather go for the 1 owner. really its worth to me for older cars but for anything new id rather get a good deal bc parts are still available and Its easier to find one in almost new condition.
Right now I don't think it's worth it to pay extra for the one owner, super clean car. Imo the older, higher mileage ones (as long as everything is in good working order) is better especially if you're like me and like doing work on your car
With high mileage and still running strong you can usually take a good guess that the previous owner took good care of it. I wouldnt buy a low mileage pre owned, the previous owner could have driven the crap out of it for a while then brought it back. I would rather save a little more and buy new
The ZL1 is very nice performance for the price. Just bought a Mustang GT for 60K new. Used ZL1's are a great deal if you get a clean one. I just wanted a new muscle car and new ZL1's were about 75k. Like he said not the best time to buy a car right now at all.
I have one. Please do not buy if you don’t know how to drive. You will wreck, or like the video says, get arrested. This car shouldn’t even be street legal. That being said, I love it.
I drive a 2017 Camaro 2ss daily I don't understand why people continuously you cannot see out of the car I don't have a problem seeing out of mine, that's why the car has a rear view mirror and side view mirrors learn to use them
In my opinion its way better to buy a rough car that needs work. You'll pay it cheaper and you're kind of saving it from the graveyard sometimes. Also doing this leaves the perfect condition cars alone so that they stay clean, un-touched exemples Also these are great. In my opinion having that is way cooler than having a new jdm car, as its basically getting more original to ride in muscle cars than jdm stanced cars
Beautiful car, but for a plastic interior, not good visibility, I think I'll just stick to my Evo 9 (I'm 39 years by the way). It's not worth buying a car at the moment unless you really need it.
It's Honestly Not that Bad Bro. I Have a 5th Gen Camaro 1SS + Rear Window Louvers, And I got Really Used to the Visibility, To Where I'm Comfortable with it. Everything About the Car Is Perfect to Me, Eccept for that it's Not Leather Interior, And it Dosen't have the OEM 4 Guage Pack, I Want
I think old dudes like me who are 40 and up can just appreciate all Cars no matter what as long as it's clean and clearly loved by the owner. I drive a murdered out 2020 civic si and I've gotten plenty of comments from muscle car guys and I love their cars too. Hell like 3 weeks ago getting gas had a murdered out mustang gt parked next me and he came out saw my car and looked at his car and said yea this is definitely the murdered out section of the gas station.
The not a tuner car comment is absolutely true lol. I have a modded 14 zl1 and only the older generation freak out for it. Younger crowd only want jdm cars lol. Can't win them all. I've done both scenes so to each their own
If America still put out big block v8s with carbs the youth would love them. Those things sound better than ANY jdm car. Emissions killed 3 things: Detroit, cool and affordable cars, and car company diversity.
To keep it relatively affordable Chevy put all the money into the performance aspect of this car sacrificing fancy materials for the interior to do so . I don't care about the back seat or the trunk and I can see just fine out of it and IMO it looks badass needless to say I'm more than happy with my ZL1 purchase.
Review was trash... who the hell cares about visibility for a high performance car? Might as well complain about gas mileage, reliability, usability (back seat space, not family friendly, etc). Prob shouldn't review it like if its a Prius or Rav4 Js lol

I love Camaros more than mustangs they have a lot of torque they sound a lot better they handle and corner better but I dislike the interior and how expensive it is I like the interior of a mustang I like the price for what you get on a mustang but for me the Camaro is like the better performance package compared to a mustang
Dude, why are u even doing an evaluation on this car? Pretty obvious u came in disliking chevy. U kept repeating how cheap it looked, felt. Uve done nothing but waste my time. I have no faith in your opinions
The power, design and interior cabin of the 6th gens are 100% better than all the other muscle cars. Who cares about tuners???? When did they even become relevant?
It's worth a new one, if you can deal. I got a 2022 WRX Premium MT for no markup: 33,400. The problem with even the Camaro is that I have kids. Man, F that infotainment BS. The gas pedal is floor mounted, it's fast, loud, loads of power, etc. can't beat it for the price.

@@1sacii I've had a pretty good selection of fast cars in my day...but the GT2 is an absolutely beastly car.
Dang a gt2 thats crazy

After 9 months of ordering, finally got one. Manual, convertible. Amazing, great visibility/head room with top down. What more do you need?
The steering is butter smooth on tour, the engine start, idle, and driving sounds alot louder than most Tang's in my opinion. Only thing I hate about the 22 cam is 3mpg fuel efficiency when you hit the gas and it's hard to hear the charger whine in it, other than that it's so smooth .
Thanks for not putting in the part where I raced every single car that lined up next to me. hahahahaha
Beautiful chief 😅 we aint see NOTHIN. -Edgar
If you're the real Alex in this video then you're my favorite host on this and would like to see more of your shows man.
The low rpm torque on a muscle cars are very desirable for chill driving and enjoying the road, there's no beating that.
I've noticed the times i have ridden in one! It is relaxing. -Edgar
@@engineerisengihere44 Yeah all the new cars are expensive.
The Challenger has the only muscle car look 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
I’ve got a 18 zl1 coming from a 18 type r. From all the cars I’ve owned, this is by far the best and most fun.
Also you can see.
Oh and get the manual. Auto wack
I’m questioning whether this guy knows what he’s talking about if he’s bashing a ZL1 🤨
No bashing! Just having fun with it. -Edgar
It's quite literally a budget supercar. Impractical, radiculous power from a 6.2l V8, great on track, rather better to leave stock, but the interior quality is where it is budget.
“Muscle cars are boring” is the dumbest thing I’ve heard anyone say.
I was between a Camero and a WRX, I ended up with the WRX and love it but always wonder about what if I went with the camero
You'd be a hell of a lot faster and people wouldn't drive by you laughing at your poor life choices...
It is too bad they detuned this car just for the sake to make the Corvette faster, when this was the better and faster car
@@engineerisengihere44 yeah I agree they sound amazing I’ll probably go back to one soon tbh
I really like the taillights on the 19-23 better, but the 16-18 are growing on me, especially the lower price. Also, like the 2010-13 taillights.
Had one. 2021 w a10 transmission, wild cherry. Traded down for an Suv. I would've gotten stopped for speeding eventually. But what a experience on the senses.
Lol did they realize Alex IS the channel, been a guest host quite frequently
Thank you for everything Alex. See you at your main channel ❤️
Best performance bang for the buck out there. We don't buy coupes for their utility or practicality. The ZL1 is much more than big hp numbers. If I was in the market, it would be high on my list
I got an '18 ss2 redline and love it, not quite a zl1 but I plan on doing a cam and heads with intake and exhaust over the winter
As a mustang owner, I hate to admit this..but the ZL1 is a badass car !
I really hate the criticism GM gets constantly for their interior and infotainment systems while also getting praise for being good value performance.
I'm in a car club and one of the members owns one of these, she dunks on all of us, it's a Camaro so it's not super interesting but my stance boi VW can't keep up like at all, she fast.
It's a Bonafide sports car and actually is a great tuner car. Tons of mods you can do.
I wish I could find a gem of a salvage title to build
I think lo mile 1 owner cars are worth it on something that is difficult to find clean examples of. Like EF or EG civic are all destroyed so finding something with decent paint and no dents is impossible id rather go for the 1 owner. really its worth to me for older cars but for anything new id rather get a good deal bc parts are still available and Its easier to find one in almost new condition.
I have a 2020 zl1 and I love my car, the visibility is not that bad you get used to it, and trust me people don’t buy these cars for the interior.
Whats all done to it?! -Edgar
Right now I don't think it's worth it to pay extra for the one owner, super clean car. Imo the older, higher mileage ones (as long as everything is in good working order) is better especially if you're like me and like doing work on your car
All a personal preference! -Edgar
With high mileage and still running strong you can usually take a good guess that the previous owner took good care of it. I wouldnt buy a low mileage pre owned, the previous owner could have driven the crap out of it for a while then brought it back. I would rather save a little more and buy new
I’ve never heard anyone say muscle cars are boring.😂😂😂😂
The ZL1 is very nice performance for the price. Just bought a Mustang GT for 60K new. Used ZL1's are a great deal if you get a clean one. I just wanted a new muscle car and new ZL1's were about 75k. Like he said not the best time to buy a car right now at all.
I have one. Please do not buy if you don’t know how to drive. You will wreck, or like the video says, get arrested. This car shouldn’t even be street legal.
That being said, I love it.
I drive a 2017 Camaro 2ss daily I don't understand why people continuously you cannot see out of the car I don't have a problem seeing out of mine, that's why the car has a rear view mirror and side view mirrors learn to use them
Just ordered a 2023 zl1 but I really want a charger scatpack wide body or a hellcat. But with this market chargers have 10-15k markup.
In my opinion its way better to buy a rough car that needs work. You'll pay it cheaper and you're kind of saving it from the graveyard sometimes. Also doing this leaves the perfect condition cars alone so that they stay clean, un-touched exemples
Also these are great. In my opinion having that is way cooler than having a new jdm car, as its basically getting more original to ride in muscle cars than jdm stanced cars
🤝🤝🤝 -Edgar
Beautiful car, but for a plastic interior, not good visibility, I think I'll just stick to my Evo 9 (I'm 39 years by the way). It's not worth buying a car at the moment unless you really need it.
It’s a beautiful car quit hating…
I’m 5,10” and with longer legs and I was fine in the convertible zl1 backseats for over an hour
Yeay, Alex has returned to FI
They've had blind spot issues since the 5th gens and that's a big reason not to own one. But, they are very fast.
The visibility is not a problem
🤝🤝🤝 -Edgar
thats a beast for real and super powerful
Top coolant master reservoir should be completely full and the slave one below it should be half-full - they look low in the engine B-roll.
Imo the 2017 Camaro ZL1 is the best looking. Looks mean and has that track look to it.
Definitely a fan of the look! -Edgar
First time I’ve seen my wheels on another 6th gen Camaro and they look amazing
Heeelll yeah! Great choice! -Edgar
just bought some wheels and tires, thanks fitment industries
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thanks for the support homie! -Edgar
This isn’t a car for a high school kid flipping burgers at McDonald’s. Too expensive and way too fast . It’s great bang for the buck but still $70K
Muscle cars are boring??? Who the fuck said that
The reviewer isn't biased at all.........
Even if i don't like American cars trying to drive one in a "realistic video game" like dirt rally 2.0 it's a very very fun car to drive
Review was trash... who the hell cares about visibility for a high performance car? Might as well complain about gas mileage, reliability, usability (back seat space, not family friendly, etc). Prob shouldn't review it like if its a Prius or Rav4 Js lol
I ordered it and paid MSRP for it :D
Alex: You can spank any car on the road with this car.
Obnoxious Hellcat owner: Hold my weird fisheye camera on a stick.
Heavier and struggles more for traction…should be a good one.
It will get beat

Love mine. Wouldn't have gotten any thing else besides a gt500 under 100k.
Best value? Maybe, but you can get into a GT-350 for mid 55k to low 60k in my area.
And have no low-end torque?
