I don't get it. This car is really inferior to the Mazda 3 in just about every way (with the exception of the AWD option which is not really a concern for me), yet I recently test drove both of them and if I were to buy one tomorrow, I'd probably get the CX-3. I can't even begin to explain why. Just something very appealing about it that defies logic.
HAHAHAHA!! laughed out loud when i read this! thank you for saying what I couldn't find the words. I bought my CX-3 in April, and I absolutely love it. can't explain why, but as you put it - it defies logic. i think my senses pop and come alive the moment I flip the 'Sport' knob. yes, that and the paddle shifters just about justifies the entire package. don't forget the gorgeous supermodel curves and design angles.
I agree. Everything in my brain knows the 3 is the better car and better buy, but heart and soul wants the cx3. Waiting for the 5 year refresh. Hoping for more power and a redo of that terrible arm rest cup holder situation it has going on.
Just like he said in the video, this car invokes strong emotions. It's a beautiful piece of a equipment and defies practical arguments. I feel the same way about it. Just wish it wasn't priced quite so aggressively, it hurts!
+Manseung Ha Even as a Mazda fan boy, I will say Honda HR-V is more practical and roomy. As for driving enthusiasm, sportiness, and design, that'll go to the CX-3 for sure.
+Michael Lee Yeah I'm Honda all the way, but when the total price came out to a low level CRV (32 grand) I changed my mind. The CX-3 handled like a car, the HRV was grocery getter.
Putting in perspective, the Mazda CX-3 is a City Car, plane and simple... It has no soft off road or adventure pretentions... Is a car to move in Urban environments, with style and comfort... End of story.... Would I buy it? Probably, as a good daily city driver to go to work, do some errands, and so on... Not for long trips.
We have a soul red 2016 and love it. Guess it depends on what your coming from. We had a Scion xD and drove that thing thousands of miles from Maine to Florida. Th cx3 feels like luxury to us.
Samuel Coronel my wife loves this car. It is very reliable and handles well. We have no complaints. For me, a full sized man, it is snug. There is little/no storage for the “stuff”. (No real console, etc.). Great car. Just know what you’re getting.
@@pjonesg Great car. It's actually my wife's. Only issue has been water getting into the left headlight. Otherwise, she loves it. (She's 5'6" and trim. My son and I (both 6' and over 200lbs) thinks it's TIGHT. Too narrow. Not a problem for legroom, etc. Just width. It drives great. Fun little car. It could NOT be my daily driver. (One other note--we have the "sport" model--which is base. There is basically NO storage. No console. No armrest. Small glovebox.) She would choose this again. (Not me. LOL. I drive a Silverado.)
Beware if you’re buying this car. My 2016 CX3 GT AWD and been back to the dealer 7 times with major problems. No a/c...compressor replaced. Bad front wheel bearing replaced. No radio, no navigation...after 4 visits they finally replaced entire system. I’ve replaced passenger side wiper blade twice because it doesn’t properly make contact to clean the window....still no good. Hopefully it will catch fire and I’ll get an insurance check and not buy another one.
Well, it's the only way the U.S. market can get their hands on a modified gen 2 Mazda2. As someone who has owned 3 Mazdas, I was really curious and test drove the GT. It handled fine, but the front seats were a bit narrow like a Nissan 370z's, and the cabin was a bit noisy, even for a Mazda. I'm 5'10 and 175 lbs (I think Micah weighs less than me). The Lane Departure Warning system makes an odd rumbling / vibration noise which makes you feel like you're driving over a bunch of reflectors. On top of that, the price is too high. It's priced more than a Mazda3 hatchback at comparable trim levels.
I've been at a standstill for a month, trying to decide between this and the mazda 3. AWD would be nice where I am but not a necessity. It's just me using it, and I never really have a bunch to haul. Both cars drive great. I feel the 2.5 in the mazda3 is obv quicker, but this cx3 seems to handle better. The one thing I need to know (here in western canada), is what the resale will be like on the cx3. I have no doubt the hrv resale will be solid. The mazda3 resale is predictable, but with the cx3 being launched here just a year ago, I have no idea how they will hold their value. Thoughts anyone? One day I wake up, it's the 3... the next day, it's a cx3... and back and forth and back and forth, etc, etc. I can't decide. Resale??????
Its the same engine..They just had to make the headers a little smaller an the air intake smaller. Thats why it lost a few horses. Ive driving it and its fine.
HI, I have a question: I own a Mazda3 here in Colombia where services are recommended to be done every 5000 kilometers (3106 miles) which I think is waay too often! I want to know the maintainance in the United States. I found out in Canada is every 8000 mi which is12874 kilometers and when I made the conversion I was shocked, but I also noticed that the said maintainance is made to canadian driving conditions which made me wonder that check ups in Colombia are more often because of the poor quality of our streets... Anyway too much info for such a little info tip I wanna know. And yes im typing this in all KBB Mazda reviews :)
I can't realky understand, why does Mazda offer larger engine with a compact car (Mazda 3, 2.5 Skyactive), than with a larger one _ SUV Mazda CX 3, 2.0 engine. Can aynone explain? I want to buy CX-3 due to awd complectation and size, but interior of Mazda 3 looks bettee and it's engine is larger and stronger. Don't you agree? Help me to make a choice
Not very impressed after driving one for almost two years-it didn’t hold up well in Northern Michigan driving conditions. Sky-Active is marketing buzz for “underbuilt”...
i was torn between the cx 3 and the 3 hatch. after test driving them back to back i had no choice but to get the 3. i was rooting for the cx but the 3 is so much faster and the interior has so much. more space. the cx 3 was a dog after being in the 3 and i could get it in stick in the gt version. no 4x4 but the 3 is just so much more complete. and more storage wich is a factor for,me too. why they put a 3 on a 2 chasis and underpowered it is beyond me should have called it a cx 2. mazda needs to get the speed 3 out there or when this lease is up i will be a mazda man no more.
Less power and worse fuel economy (how?) as well as less cargo space and more body cladding than a Mazda 3. Why are people buying these? For a few inches more in height? What's the advantage?
+Akiff Hssn Former Hyundai owner (2013), the resale is horrible (warranty great). I had 30K on my last Hyundai and the best offer I could get was 9 Grand.
Isaac Fox I actually did think about that after posting that first comment, and you are correct. If you are looking for AWD, the Mazda 3 will not fill that void while the CX-3 most definitely will. I will also admit that when it comes to looks (subjective), I think the CX-3 is beautiful. The Mazda 3 is also very good looking, but I think the CX-3, being the newer design, looks even better.
+Isaac Fox A good set of snow tires makes AWD unnecessary, unless you are planning a trip across the Arctic Tundra, in which case you will want AWD and snow tires and maybe Jeep like ground clearance. Get a Mazda 3 with snow tires, and you will have a sportier ride, more room, a more powerful engine, and will do better in the snow than a CX-3 AWD with all season tires. If you just like sitting up higher, and want an easier to park(shorter length) vehicle, or you are really enamored with the appearance, then the CX-3 with FWD and snow tires would be a good bet.
Just by looking at it, it is easy to tell the sale of CX-3 will be dismal. Welcome to the family, CX-3.
"There is a spot to store your smartphone . . ." that is until you panic-brake and the phone ricochets off the shift knob into one of the foot wells.
There is actually a rubber gripper inside to hold it in place.
This is a nice looking car .

You look like shit

Two new entries are gonna make a run at the Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V. Look out for the Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona.
This car would be unbeatable with the 184HP 2.5 Liter.......they should offer it on a "GT" model

Toyota needs to make a vehicle in this class maybe a rav2
+The Rusty Scooter yes same engine from rav4 give it a bit more performance from other cars in this class
+The Rusty Scooter but knowing them they will probably use the underpowered corolla engine
+The Rusty Scooter yeah I hope they do something
They are making the CHR
Mazda is killin it lately. I had a 08 Mazda3 hatch and it was damn fun to drive. Light, fast and sharp.
+mistertee Sport-mode rocks in this thing, very turbo (VTEC'y).

+Robert C Me 2, storage and armrest are an issue, but it's fun to drive so screw it!

What is your long term review of the car?
@@MrHajidub not having a rear armrest is my only issue.
I leased 2 love this car. Has everything I want sunroof, Nav, Bose audio and AWD. With great safety features.
I find the CX3 suspension quite compliant over small bumps. It's not as bad he says.
The best reviewer. Can even make the negatives sound a little bit postive.Atleast subjective :)
This review is way too harsh. I've had one of these for three months and they are awesome.
I have the 2016.5 CX-5. If this is anything like it, buyers won't be disappointed.
I have a soul red one....only thing I don't like is no temp gauge, can't remember when I had a car without one!
Motor City Man there's really no point for them, they're always inaccurate and people just use their phones for everything now anyways
I think he was talking about the car engine temperature gauge
great looking compacts for singles or DINK's.

German car guy... I have that mazda and I don't have any problems with 151k km on it...
This has always been one of the most stylish looking small SUVs for me. However, no one here probably knows that the CX-3 got discontinued after 2021.
Best looking, interior and exterior. HRV is much more practical.
...and slower, less feature laden, and saddled with uncomfortable front seats and a mediocre CVT.

Cell phone holder looks like it'll send your phone flying when braking. Nonetheless, a nice interior.
With limited cargo space, Mazda should have made the front seat able to lay flat.
I love Mazda CX 3.but does it have park assist?
Parking assistance is optional aroung 400 or 500$ as I remember... You can ask dealer to install it for you... It's not standard for any trim level.
I'll wait for a mspeed manual if possible
it's a nice looking car but feels sluggish when merging into highway. I'd suggest the mazda 3 unless you really want AWD.
