- You will change the way you use any form of media after you hear this. Why? Because you are the media. Yes, you are responsible for everything you see online, in print, and on TV... even so-called fake news. Christina Nicholson is a former TV reporter and anchor who has worked in markets from New York City to Miami. She is still telling stories, but instead of doing it for a newscast, she's doing it to help businesses grow. With her business, Media Maven, she helps entrepreneurs reach thousands, even millions, of their ideal customers or clients in minutes instead of months through the power of media without spending big bucks on advertising.
You can still see her in front of the camera as a host on Lifetime TV, in national commercials, on WPTV for her monthly segment, Steals and Deals, and read her work online in Inc. Magazine. Christina also has a local lifestyle and family blog, Christina All Day. She lives in South Florida with her husband and two young children. This is a great talk... good summary of the issues with social media and how the "audience" contributes to spreading false information.
This is an OK talk for its time. I'm also an ex newsroom journalist, and was lucky enough to work at some of the world's most reputable and famous titles, also for 10+ years. It was sad to have to switch careers but I could see where media was heading. People complain about "the media", but they get the poor quality media they deserve - by expecting their news for free. It takes talent, resources and skill to create quality news. If people don't want to pay to sustain that, you end up with the dross we have now. Rather than complain, subscribe to a media outlet.

Ask yourself this: do they EVER say anything negative about Trump or positive about Biden? No. Trump is God, Biden is Satan. And that is death to democracy. Try for a week watching exclusively media that you don't like: CNN, MSNBC. Guaranteed, it will open your eyes.

journalists have become the Enemies of the People. Your profession once admirable makes me sick now. Propaganda, Lies, Fear Mongering and Censorship - thats what the media does now.

I think it's fine for high engagement to be a reward for fake news; the engagement shows us what ideas we wanna fight. MSNBC gets tons of engagement for their worst videos, and the comments sections are immeasurably valuable when that happens.
Very nice. I agree we're all part of the solution or the problem. Know the true facts and think before you share or comment. Most importantly if you can't be nice or respectful, better to stay silent

You have very valuable and valid points. However, calling social media = to media is excessive at least. Also, positive stories shouldn't be youtube click bate of cute pets. That's not positive news. Finally big media is still responsible for ALL of their creators.
