I'm buying the CT6 because it's worth it. The engineering alone sets it apart not to mention the luxury. Finally G.M. is kicking ass world while.

+rowdy 752 I disagree,I think they did a wonderful job with this car from the interior to exterior and today's V6 engines are so much better than the ones from 10-20 years ago they are more powerful and quieter. I think a bigger car is coming and it'll probably have a V8

like i said on another CT6 review, its a crazy value, its the size of an s class with the price of a 5 series, but it weighs less than a 5 series all while keeping similar materiel usage in the cabin as well as exterior. some serious leaps forward from shit Cadillacs of 10 years ago.

If Donald Trump becomes president and he enacts his trade policies what will happen is that US cars will get parity with Asian and European cars when it comes to import/export taxation.
This will make American cars even cheaper again and the quality will still stay there.
I think we are on the cusp of a resurgence in American cars. The Engineering is clearly there it now just needs the correct trade conditions.

    • @MrCarGuy

It's not the size of an S-Class. It's the size of a SWB 7-Series and weighs less than any German saloon.

Oh god no where do I start.
The founding fathers were Freemasons. I know many Freemasons and none of them are involved in any secret special super agenda.
Of course Sales are down the US economy is taking a hammering both internally and external.
As I have stated a president like Trump who has a trade policy like the US had in the 1950s and a taxation policy similar to this period will start the US economic engine again.
The US auto industry has the engineering just look at this video.

+bighands69 quit blaming this on the economy... This has already been discussed.. Cadillac has established itself as the cheap luxury brand and now that it has priced itself closer to it's competitors now everyone thinks it's too expensive. Car is an amazing deal, but perception is everything..Overall sales are not down... It's competitors are seeing increases...

That chassis is a technological marvel! who would've thought a car this big would that light! And with high quality materials, features & gadgets at that! Hat's off to Travis, Dave & engineers at Cadillac! Bravo… Bravo.
And being a modern Cadillac … handling is outstanding!
I too had high expectations for the CT6 (being the Cadillac fan that I'm) & Cadillac delivered on all fronts… especially in the interior department. The interior design language is much better than previous Cadillacs & I'm very happy that they are keeping the Piano-Black surfaces to a bare minimum! I always hated that in the other Cadillacs … especially the Escalade.
The big seats with the chevron quilting\stitching (glad they didn't follow the trend of diamond quilting) alongside the monochrome Cadillac crest on the fender & the somewhat complex grille inserts (on the Platinum model) are reminiscing of the proper Cadillacs of yore. Wide, Low, Long & with attention to details … Harley Earl would've been proud.
There are few things that bothers me though: That perforated leather area surrounding the screen annoys me… the wood should be extending all the way through. The start button should've been Aluminum. A high end clock would've been nice too. And the interior could use more color\wood combinations … I hope Johan uses his Audi expertise to address that in the future! That interior in proper Maroon, Mustard, Havana brown ..etc would look sooooooo good! And I hope he drops the Platinum trim for something more sophisticated… Like BMW Individual or Audi Exclusive.
I'd make a one more suggestion for Cadillac, OLED screen & update CUE with black backgrounds … it will fit perfectly with the touch sensitive buttons surrounding it.As for what would I pick for almost 90 grand, That would be the CT6 (though frankly I'd rather wait for the V8) … I already spec'd mine for $71k :)

      It's a 3.6L 'Luxury' trim with:
      • Stellar Black Metallic (or Moonstone Metallic, I like both).
      • Jetblack interior with the Chevron Stitching (part of the Enhanced Vision & Comfort package).
      • Active Chassis Package.
      • Bose Panaray system.
      CD Player.
      • Illuminated Trunk Sill Plate (should've Been standard).
$10,095 worth of options (with All Wheel Steering & The Panaray make most of it) with a grand total of $71,485 ... :)

I live on the island of Oahu all my life and I'm a father of 3 adult kids. For two decades I have owned and driven mini vans (GMC Safari & Toyota Sienna). Planning for the near future and approaching my retirement years. I gotta have LUXURY, performance, and functionality. I love the Cadillac comfort 405hp get up and go power with the rear video system. Meaning when the grand kids come knocking at your front door, I'll be ready with this vehicle. Love the platform Cadillac is heading, not since the DeVille days of roomy interiors. thank you Cadillac and MotoMan for the review.

$90,000 will easily buy you an S-Class. A slightly used previous model year is an example. If you wanted a W221, you could go 2013 for even less.
Now, you have to remember... shortly before the Daimler-Chrysler merger, Daimler-Benz created the highly modular and aluminum intrusive W220 and it was a technological marvel. The full size LWB model came in at less than 4,000 lbs (closer to 3,900) with the airmatic suspension. In 1998, this was amazing.
Standard satellite navigation, radar cruise control (distronic), and everything else patented for the 220 was also amazing. Nothing is more beautiful to me than a pre-midcycle model. That's why I bought one years ago. Now, nearly 20 years after MB pioneered the idea, Cadillac continues to perfect it.

Ahead of its time, so to speak, this car offers the surprise of incredible driving experience and performance. In sport driving mode, the car maintains dynamic, muscular control even when you experience a bump at high speed; absolutely no fishtailing! This car backs up its muscular look with muscular strength performance. The 404 hp is magnificent and smooth, with an astonishing maneuverability. Many times before the end of the day you’ll just thank God, and He’ll encourage you to greater good. After all, isn’t His inspiration behind Cadillac just like any other entity? ITNOJ Amen 🙏

Nice informative and entertaining review as always! I think this Caddy looks great! The design is unique yet handsome (read masculine), like most of their line-up, and seems less awkward looking at the front quarter (to me) than the previous CTS. Their pricing is still a bit on the high side for a domestic built car. The 2.0L base car starting price should be less than $50K. Recently cross-shopping Cadillac with Volvo, all specs near equal, our loaded Volvo V60 T6 AWD R-Design and XC60 T6 AWD Ocean Race came in at least $5K under the comparable Cadillacs. Also glad to see Cadillac has updated the Que system as we found its functionality "unfriendly" or clunky, and our cars have the legacy Volvo controls with the hundred buttons. Some of us old school dudes still like to press good quality (soft sprung) tactile buttons. There's a dedicated button or knob for most functions, so no menu searching or scrolling required.

    • @bahamatodd
      @bahamatodd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

maxjtj31 Much more than that. Larger engine and associated cooling and other accessory components. All the drivetrain components need to made stronger and heavier to handle the higher torque. AWD and the associated differentials and driveshafts. The higher end car also has 4-wheel steering, while the base car doesn't. The higher end car also more interior features which add weight.

Having had the service under Cadillac warranty, I was quite impressed! Well done explanation, and the cutout car is a big help to explain all that weight savings. If I can get that look in an American Car I will go American. I always think about cost of repairs, and maintenance issues. I have not had any severe problems with any of my GM vehicles. Great review. I'd take a good hard look at the CT6 but for 90K I think I would go for the A8 or the next gen Lexus LS. Curious to see the packaging and what option you get in the CT6 for $65-70K. The low weight is very intriguing and I look forward to test driving. Currently driving a 2014 Audi S6.

I know this video was years ago, and I'm sure you know this by now... But, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Platinum AWD weighs 4,385 pounds, not 3,657 pounds. The base RWD CT6 with the 2.0T I4 does start at 3,647 pounds with no options on the car. That's what you must have confused with the 3.0TT Platinum. Man, if this 404 HP CT6 3.0TT Platinum weighed only 3,657 pounds, it would really accelerate, handle, and brake much better than it already does. Anyway, I always loved your videos! I've been a subscriber for years. Keep up the good work! 👍

For a long time, I've been trying to see how this, the Continental, and the new G90 stack up against each other. They're all amazing value propositions for the customer who can afford an E class, but would upgrade without hesitation to the larger S-class if it were the same price with the same specs and options. And after seeing this review, I have to say, this will probably be better than the G90, and definitely better than the Continental, but that isn't saying too much considering that they're all great cars, and they all make a great case for themselves. I'm a Lincoln fan and the new Continental stole my heart, I also love the Equus/G90 for its backseat comfort, but I'm also a geek for tech, and as of right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the CT6 because of its engineering and sharp looks. I always wanted a long wheelbase CTS, but this that and so much more, and that interior looks like a nice place to spend time in. BTW, I live in Portland, Oregon.

The best looking Cadillac right now. Nice that they found their root back to innovative technology like it was in old days. The interiuer looks nice classic. Actually i would like to buy from luxury cars the S Class with Maybach package. The intereur is so amazing and the Engine is a nice warp machine. The Cadillac is inside more classic like in an A8. For the price it would be the choice, but if price doesnt matter it would be the S-Class (even when the 7 series has the best tech).

I'd purchase the CTS6 you have in your possession. I'm very impressed with the product and feel very excited about the prospect of actually considering Cadillac in the future. it seems like its not just a great value, but a cutting edge automobile. Yes, if I had $120k to spend perhaps I'd go straight to the Benz, but its not a sure bet. I think the Germans are too focused on upping each other with electronic gizmos instead of creating a great driving automobile. Aurelio in Phoenix living in a divided household---bear down! PS- I love your work! you have the job of my dreams!

If they are using 200M lbs.of pressure with dies to create those waffle wheel arch supports then that would be a forging method, not casting. Casting is the pouring of molten metal into a form without significant pressure. So, did they forge, cast, or pressure cast those things?

Well I will say One of my gripes when I drove is that you do have to pull read shades up manually...Cadillac knew where I was coming from it is absurd for this type of car.B it what is is giving you is a look at where the flagship is going,in addition there is a hybrid coming into play soon..with that being said it is a possibility they will address this issue.so far as a v8 no real news on this topic just yet.the sound system is something closely resembles [ in sound] ripped out of you home.It gives u clarity,a texture,so refined...it will resonate with you.it comes at you from all directions. Its a seemless transition from space to space.but again I myself did co,e back to the fact that my guests had to manually pull up there shades. However the picture I want to paint for you is one of a car company returning to its [pinnacle of Luxury] roots.i has and did listen to its bigger brother the oh so mighty escalade. So yes white the is a bit of additional fine tuning to be done.its far surpasses anything on the the road.BY it look, feel and touch.

the Cadillac is inferior to the german rivals in every way including everything you just wrote, even a renault espace has all wheel steering, why doesnt the rolls royce have all wheel steering? or magnetic suspension? is the rolls royce inferior to the ct6?
the real rival for the ct6 is the new Genesis g90, which is a much better product than the cadillac. the interior in the ct6 is so ugly!

If I had $90k it would be a choice between two Caddies ... this and the CTS-V. I think the choice would depend on what other cars I owned. If I had another sports car or sporty motorcycle, I'd opt for the CT6. If my second car were an SUV, the CTS-V would be the choice. If I were going to spend a bit more, I'd simply wait for whatever Caddy has next, given the promise this shows. Given that this betters an E-Class in size, performance, and luxury at this price, and better a "base" S or 7 class in technical goodies, for less money, I'd love to see what they have in the offings as far as a CT8. There is nearly nothing not to like about this car. I mean, only the middle seat in the back, which is a bit hump like ... that's it. I also wish they had debuted the V-sport (or whatever) version with the V8 they are working on, because that would paint a clearer picture. Whatever it is, Caddy has done an amazing job. They've "split" the market, finding a niche in size and spec that Europe has yet to occupy, and filled it with their trademark "performance/luxury" combination. My guess? We see a CT8 next year that is based on a six inch stretch, making a 210-11 inch ride, again, in between the e550/600 and the stretched versions. They'll probably lavish it with more carbon fiber or aluminum trim, and give it a rocking v8 as it's "base" motor. Caddy will, again, split a segment. Their proposition is rock solid right now. I get it. If they can fill in the top segment, IMO, it actually makes it tough to choose any German car over the cadillac competition unless you have brand loyalty issues you are dealing with, lol.

Atlanta Georgia: I'd go for another A8L for $90K. I would buy a CT6 if it had the 8 cylinder but I would not look at it with six. Don't care about turbos, I just wouldn't do it. I loved my 2005 A8L, it was a beast and super smooth. I still miss it, but my RS5 makes up for it!
