      hyylo do you resist the power of the bernie?
      on a serious note, if chrysler and GM did not take the bail out ford would have, its simple really, ford could not keep the local manufacturing companys (like shape and man power) going and they would have folded along with fords deals. ford waited for the other two to take the bail out, then they breathed a sigh of relief. either way, GM paid back what they barrow years ago, on the other hand chrysler has not and it took fiat buying them to come to a deal.
      GM paid it back faster than they agreed to, they are now #2 biggest manufacture world wide, they hire more Americans than any other automotive manufacturer, and they have the only luxury brand that comes close to the germans in technology, features, quality, and performance.

    Pretty damn sure this is not a direct competitor to the 7, LS or S. It is slightly smaller than them, and priced accordingly, at under $55k to start. They don't offer 4-bangers, either. The ATS and CTS have been sales duds, but I like the market approach here. It hits it where they ain't. Flagship size and kit for a tweener price. A good value

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bitcoin Video University "They don't offer 4-bangers, either." - yeah, too bad for them and their customers.
      And actually you can get a 4-pot diesel S Class.

    • @banstaman
      @banstaman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bitcoin Video University Unfortunately, GM has never quite grasped competing with vehicles in terms of size. But this more closely matches the standard wheelbase models, though I don't think the S class comes with a "shorter" wheelbase anymore. Sounds good, but I wonder how well this will sell though, considering it doesn't have a V8. Regardless of how the 4-cylinder or V6 engines perform, luxury buyers just "need" to have at least a V8.

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +banstaman "luxury buyers just 'need' to have at least a V8" - well, that's a pretty backwards thinking. That 2L 4-pot probably has more power than most V8 engines ever built. And S Class definitely is available in SWB, but CT6 more likely competes with something like LWB E Class.

    • @banstaman
      @banstaman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, even if it performs better than V8 engines, buyers here wouldn't buy it because it isn't a V8 since cylinder count is a status symbol here.

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +banstaman Yeah, I know, I'm just saying that it's backwards and that it shouldn't be endorsed :P

      +Tomasz Dominkowski: Actually, this is a review. The OP gave the basic specs, price, driving experience and even compared some items to other competitors. You may not like his delivery style or that he praised Cadillac and the other products they make but that's something different altogether. All in all this was a pretty standard TH-cam review, on a car that someone had a limited time with.
      Tell me, what do you think a car review consists of?

    The CT6 is NOT designed to compete with the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, or nonetheless the Mercedes S-Class. Cadillac has said numerous times that the CT6 is not supposed to compete in that class. However, they are creating a super-luxury sedan to take on those cars. For now, its the flagship. But its no where near the finest Germans.

    If I was American I would buy Cadillac. New Cadillacs are good. But I'm European so I would buy European car. Americans buy good Japanese cars made in USA, but really for American economy Americans should buy good American cars. (I say good American cars, not bad like some...). Germans buy good German cars. France buy French cars. Japan buy Japanese cars but Americans buy Japanese cars for some reason (ok I know good quality but come on! This is not 1980 and American cars are good now).

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Neo Hideo That's nonsense. Why would you limit yourself for no reason? Do you realise that the Cadillac has plenty of European parts in it?

    • @neohideo
      @neohideo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +AoyagiAichou because cars are big money big bussiness and if you support your country and your people you will eventually get richer yourself, I'm not talking about being stupid and supporting bad products from your country, there are good American cars now

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Neo Hideo Ah, the American logic: "The handful of billionaires that own 90% of the country mean that I'm rich"... right? Not to mention Europe is not a country. Oh, and again, car industry is extremely interconnected.

    • @kara88bg

      Problem is that the most American car company by percentage of American parts in it is Toyota, and that in Europe we drive mostly European cars because neither American nor Japanise manufacturers make as good diesel engines as European and we love diesels.

    Wow. Great job Cadillac!!! The brand has come so far and is doing great all things considered. I am very impressed. I think this CT6 will do great especially with the entry price point. Reading between the lines and watching interviews makes me think Cadillac will go even bigger than this model something like a CT7 or CT8 in the future. When it comes to repair cost I would GLADLY take the Cadillac over any German car any day. The ATS, CTS and V series models are all impressive and competitive . Go Caddy go!!!

    To be honest, the reason why Cadillac doesn't sell that well is because of the association it has with GM. The target market are 40 somethings and up that have a unique and acquired taste in material goods. The name Cadillac sounds so ancient, that most people who are in the market don't even bat an eye. If Cadillac can become it's own and a sovereign brand, I think it may be able to compete with the luxury giants of the automotive world. And one more thing to note, when I see a new Cadillac, all I see driving the cars are old men and women who buys the cars just because it's a local Cadillac dealership down the street.

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AoyagiAichou Because most buyers expect a larger engine in a car of this size.

    • @AoyagiAichou

      +ChooChooTrain02 And they can get that. Again, what's wrong with having that option?

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AoyagiAichou Really, nothing. I'm not against it anyway. A lot of buyers will find it weird to know that their large luxury car is powered by a 4cyl.

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ChooChooTrain02 And a lot of BMW customers would find it weird if they knew that nice engine sound they hear is coming out of their speakers :P . But yeah, I imagine that much power (relatively, of course) in a 4-pot 2.0L engine is not very uh... traditional. And for some reason (not only) Americans value engines primarily by the cylinder count ._.

    • @turbo_s
      @turbo_s 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AoyagiAichou Most BMW buyers in my area (Vancouver/Richmond, B.C.) are rich Asian immigrants with no clue about cars. They probably think any engine sound is good. They think they don't have to follow road rules because they're driving a German vehicle. Quite literally, 90% of the vehicles I see pulled over are BMWs. Also, a 6cyl. is always going to be smoother than a 4cyl, and an 8cyl is always going to be smoother than a 6. There's an Alex on Autos video explaining why.

    Weird. They say it's supposed to compete with a 7-series or an S-class, but the price points are different. I don't think that it needs to, though. Those cars are turning into overweight limos for the eastern markets. The two things I don't like about the CT6 are the steering wheel and the name.

    It's a great car but it lacks two important things:
    - a proper name. I am not sure if "CT6" word has any sense to it. Why it's not fleetwood or something?
    - more style. To capture customers' eyes from S class, 7 series, and LS, you need to have a distinctive style. Although I like the way this car looks, it will have hard time flashing enough to get regular luxury buyers to Caddy showrooms

      @Fishfingers232 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AoyagiAichou I know but I'm just saying, if they can shove a V8 into a car with smaller dimensions, then surely they can put a V8 in the bigger CT6.

But keep in mind that the buyer of this car is going to be far different than the buyer of a CTS-V. This is a much more comfort oriented car, so smoothness is the name of the game, not speed.

    I really like Cadillac, and wish they would do better, but unfortunately, no matter how hard they try, they'll never be liked as much as Mercedes or BMW. Cadillac is an old luxury brand with a lot of heritage just like Mercedes, but it just doesn't carry the prestige that the Germans do. Even if they do produce more luxurious, and better performing cars the badge whores will overlook the better car and the better value. It's all about the badge for some people, and Cadillac just doesn't carry the same amount of prestige.

    This platform unconventional in resources sourced & used becomes very attributable to that of "re thought & initiations".
    think about the various sources of carbons & minerals used that are regulated to whats attainable for assembly use & production.
    This premium hallmark brocades boutique perhaps however can't become CTD (CT5) to be wheelbase bec of market & portfolio specific placement.
    Some claim no replacement for XTS though it has that criterial objective

    1. CT6 is a HORRIBLE name!
    2. 4cyl and 6cyl engines don't belong in RWD Flagships PERIOD!
    3. Exterior styling is forgettable, nothing about it stands out compared to a CTS.

      AoyagiAichou its not about that fast or fluid, a touch screen will never be as good as twisting a knob...its just take a lot more attention to do it while you are driving, you dont see any major hyper luxury car does it do u? lots of human factor psychology go into it and touch screen on a car is not the way to go...at least on a sport car like ATS-V or CTS-V

    Mercedes-Benz, BMW,Audi offer a small diesel engine but also offer V8's. Cadillac is playing the China card period. CUE socks period. No knows light it's competitors equals poor sales. Marketing also socks. They offer huge discounts now for all their vehicles except the Escalade. This vehicle will replace the XTS.

    • @akeemperez8509
      @akeemperez8509 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      u forget the fact the government bought them, and the government has pretty strict emissions guidelines, so they probably told GM no V8s unless they are sport models.

    • @lotterynj
      @lotterynj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Akeem Perez Emissions are already in check. That is not the issue facing manufacturers. It's fuel efficiency. Lower weight is the holy grail for manufacturing. They just refuse to due it due to crash standards. Now they have to. A V8 is a must in this class. V8's give great fuel economy with modern tech. Just look at the competition. GM paid back their money to us. Government doesn't own them. They even said this is not the flagship their still gonna make C7 C8......XTS replacement this is.

    • @akeemperez8509
      @akeemperez8509 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dario Molina A V8 at this price point doesn't make sense. the only other brand that would offer a V8 at this price would be an eqqus

    • @lotterynj
      @lotterynj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Akeem Perez Top of the line Platinum trim level,would be the V8 model not the lower end trim levels. The G90 is expected to top out at the Platinum trim if not lower and offer all that you can get in the top luxury Brands. Not so for the CT6. Also I completely understand the offerings of smaller engines but if your getting the same mpgs as a V8 with the smaller engines it begs the point Why? Emissions noted by the epa are the same. For the money the G90 is the better choice. But this is the XTS replacement not the range topper we Cadillac owners were promised.

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dario Molina Why are you bringing Audi into the game? Audi is a joke that pretends to be a premium brand while it's just a little upscaled Volkswagen. And CUE doesn't suck period or any other punctuation mark, try actually using it in the new cars.

      +goddesseddog The old American mentality of needing a 7.0 Liter motor to product 290 HP is over. I have a lot to gripe about when it comes to GM but no knocking the motor.
