I have a 2016 base with the 3.6, awd and the 8l45 transmission. I picked it up off a lease with 59K on the odometer. It didn’t take long for me to notice the shudder and I had to do some homework before I knew what it was. There’s a class action lawsuit over the transmission and a few TSB’s - the last which is flushing and changing the fluid to the “correct type fluid” - all done on GM’s dime. I had mine serviced and got about 7,000 miles and felt the shudder beginning again so I brought it back. This time they swapped the torque converter and fluid again. I’m over 20K daily driving and that problem is a thing of the past. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Next: the air conditioning. Summer 2020 in July - I come out of work in Manhattan to zero functioning air conditioning. I drove through the Battery tunnel with the commuter busses in traffic. That sucked. Nothing got it to blow cold until I got to Staten Island at home and disconnected my ground on my battery. I did a “hard reset” - everything worked perfect immediately after. But the issue kept happening an I noticed that the temperature gauge on the dash was bottomed to the lowest temperature and the electric cooling fans were on full blast. Every time I did a reset it fixed it but it would happen again at least 3 times a week. All of the Cadillac forums had people saying they went to the dealership and had to get the air conditioning fixed. I wasn’t satisfied because with the reboot it still worked. So I did more homework. As it turns out - the 3.6 (LGX) is also installed in the same year(s) Camaros. The difference is most Cadillac owners probably don’t even open their hoods, nonetheless work on their cars. They bring the car to the dealership. Camaro owners do tend to “play with their cars” I’m a diehard hotrodder! I have big block toys, GM toys, Mopar toys and I like fixing things. So I went to a Camaro forum and there it was in print. The answers to the air conditioning problem. With the LGX 3.6 engine. The thermostat is the problem. If you start your vehicle and drive off and the engine doesn’t get up to temperature within a time threshold your BCM and ECM will think the engine is low on coolant and put the vehicle into a default limp mode. It shuts off the air conditioning and runs the fans. Now for more fun. The thermostat is in between bank 1 & 2 at the bottom of the V , under the intake manifold so it’s a costly repair not recommended for a novice. I have a 2017 ct6 3.6l and the transmission also shifts alittle rough 1 - 2 gear but is smooth the rest. Does anyone have the same problem and could you recommend a fix?
Not sure if you did it yet, but the trans fluid needs changing. The factory fluid is bad, and it can damage the transmission over time. There’s a class action lawsuit ongoing
I’ve had the air conditioning issues seems like after a long trip 4/5hr drive something happens with AC I’ve taken it to dealership they say it’s all good
Are you the Owner of the car? Or paying monthly? I believe if you out right own the vehicle, you, can have anyone work on the car as long as you trust them and agree to it. But if you don't then of course insurance will be picky on how to fix the vehicle.

So there's "nothing wrong with the CT6"..............but the AC doesn't work sometimes, the transmission whines, and there's a "preferred provider" scam that you'll have to pay a premium for. OK.
It depends on year and model of GM vehicle. I had a 2011 Camaro LS (V6) for ten years. Only had to replace the alternator and the battery. Had AC Delco rotors & pads installed and went through two sets of tires. Other than that no real problems with it. I've also owned a 2004 Cavalier coupe, no problems with that car either. The CT6 is really nice but hearing about these issues will probably keep me from buying one. What do you guys think of the 2016 CTS 3.6L? Any thoughts? Not sure if you did it yet, but the trans fluid needs changing. The factory fluid is bad, and it can damage the transmission over time. There’s a class action lawsuit ongoing
I need a front headlight for a 2020 Cadillac ct6
I’ve had the air conditioning issues seems like after a long trip 4/5hr drive something happens with AC I’ve taken it to dealership they say it’s all good
Go to settings go to climate and select air quality out settin on high will fix problem
Any reason to flip the video so it looks like you drive a right-hand steering car?
Mine the thermostat housing went bad bringing on the engine light. At 62000 miles
Will fix it but don’t know what else will come up
Luv Cadillac)
Are you the Owner of the car? Or paying monthly? I believe if you out right own the vehicle, you, can have anyone work on the car as long as you trust them and agree to it. But if you don't then of course insurance will be picky on how to fix the vehicle.
Yes i am A proud owner
@@CadillacDriven in that case you can have whom ever you want to fix your car and the insurance must still pay.
Bro. Do you have steering week on the other size like in the UK? 😅
... the* steering wheel*
How much was it to fix the transmission?
So Onstar does not help diagnose those issues?
I liked and subscribed
Great information! I am thinking of getting me a CT6. How is the car running now?
It's good My Cadillac 2018 CT6 Is Running Like I Just Bought It I Love It!!!!!
@@CadillacDriven Did you order the new Lyriq?
@@Jaycrew2010 yes I did order the new Cadillac lyric bouncing back and forth on what I want to keep my CT6 or continue to be patient with waiting on the Cadillac Lyriq
Cool, can’t wait to see and hear how you feel about it. Hopefully excited!
@@Jaycrew2010 thanks I'm definitely going to do a video if I can wait that long LOL because I like CT6 is so awesome
I bought the Cadillac 2018 with 15521 miles took it off the next day after bringing it back I have the brake system fail I haven't get it back over a month now what do you suggest
Yikes. Parts are getting hard to find. Are they saying parts they need are on backorder?
Just be patient and if they can take care of it. It should still be under warranty. Keep me posted on the progress.
Those are my favorite year and model car
I have a CT6 2018 Cadillac that top of my reservoir cracked a little 😢 what should I do?
let the dealership fix it
@@antmor1234That’s hella expensive
How to get the ac blowing air directly at you
So there's "nothing wrong with the CT6"..............but the AC doesn't work sometimes, the transmission whines, and there's a "preferred provider" scam that you'll have to pay a premium for.
OK.
They changed due may work oil in transmission fixed put air cond in auto it started up then cool
why is the driver on the wrong side of the driver's seat??
Damn, those are HUGE problems. You are lucky you didn't have to drop thousands on that Transmission. That's GM for you.
It would have still been under warranty
It depends on year and model of GM vehicle. I had a 2011 Camaro LS (V6) for ten years. Only had to replace the alternator and the battery. Had AC Delco rotors & pads installed and went through two sets of tires. Other than that no real problems with it. I've also owned a 2004 Cavalier coupe, no problems with that car either. The CT6 is really nice but hearing about these issues will probably keep me from buying one. What do you guys think of the 2016 CTS 3.6L? Any thoughts? It's smaller than the CT6 but same or similar engine.
Is your car somehow right drive?
yes
@@CadillacDriven I guess they make the right hand drive you Musta got a good deal.
I’ve never seen anything like that in the US. Do you know a Cadillac. Very cool
Turn off selfie mode - everything is backwards

Cooling fan slow to turn off
Ok
I own the 2017 CT6 Great car except for the transmission shipping out of 1st gear and the hood the paint Faded real bad then the roof started to go then the trunk I get rid of it and bought a used are they used 2023.6 with the 10th big beautiful car that I noticed on an etherhood they had a shield evidently the heat on black did something to the paint but the car was nice until the squirrel sides wiped me so I liked the world I went out and bought a 2020 CT4V type and I love it it's a little small but it's a kick ass cards all there I would like to get a 2020 CT6 black ring but I can't see it explain that kind of muddy at at my age I'll keep my 84 Riviera and use that for a
Top down cruiser
Nonsense I don't believe what he is saying about the body shop & the ct6
As much as I like the CT6, I would NEVER buy a Cadillac thst isn't on manufacturer's warranty.
I'm not trying to sound like I'm the richest person ever but Cadillacs are reliable if u have the money for maintenence
I agree@@ithinkihaveebola5238
I agree and with the new electric escalade I plan on leasing till I'm 80 years old. that way I'll never have to worry about fixing anything.
