I'm the owner of the black AMG at 24:12 and I have to apologise to everyone. My wife was driving it with the wrong number plates on that day because our custom number plates that read "Entitled" on them had been stolen.
That mother is on something; probably pain killers. She had no concept at all for the grief she caused/causes, especially to her daughter (at school) after this and long term. She'll need to change schools now. The mum, the car, the daughter and the school will be easily identifiable for anyone involved with that institution and the daughter will now (unfairly) be a target.
"Look at my fancy Merc, you should feel grateful to be held up by me. My daughter goes to this expensive private school!" … or something like that I guess 🙄

Often in cases like that, they are from other countries. My father was almost wiped out by an American in 1967. Both vehicles wound up in the paddock on my Dad's side of the road. American gets out and starts yelling abuse. My father replied (in his Australianised Manchester accent) "In this country we drive on the left side" and I suspect that is the sanitised version. American just got back in his car and drove off... on the left.
As a Brit who passed her test in the UK, then had to learn how to drive on the right when I moved to the Middle East, trust me when I say that the drivers in the ME are some of the worst I've ever seen. Any lane can be used - because they can. Roundabouts - what are those, let me just drive straight over. Stick my feet out of the window while I drive, or have my child on my lap, no problem! Absolutely bloody mad I tell ya! 🙄🤪

this is what needs to be taught more. we all know pedestrians have right of way but to still expect drivers to see a lone pedestrian while also trying to make an entrance onto busy roads with no green arrows is ridiculous, seen this way too many times that it gets easier to blame the pedestrians for lack of common sense, eye contact is the only trustworthy option for these situations.

Well, looking at it now I would say he/she picked the best option. The person coming the other way could have done one of three things, stayed in the wrong lane, kept going further to their right and off the road, or veered back into the correct lane. The Dashcam driver had to risk a head on, veer to his left off the road and still risk a collision if the other driver kept drifting over. Or he could go right and even if the other driver got back in the correct lane, he still had the other side of the road and his own original lanes as options.

I honestly don't know what I'd have done, and to be honest, it probably wouldn't have been what this dashcam driver did, and hence I probably would've ended up dead or very near close to it. Maybe the adrenaline kicked in for this dashcam driver and his heightened senses meant he just "knew" that it was the right course of action. I'd be interested to know what his thoughts were because it clearly saved his life.

I go to great lengths to avoid turns like that. I try to turn left, and then find some way to loop around where I can turn back at a light. I don't know how people turn right across multi-laned traffic. Braver than I am!
A very congested intersection during afternoon rush hour. Instead of queing to turn right from the other side (backs up a long way, 3 or 4 light changes are normal) people go straight, do a U turn and exit left to beat the wait time, or use the footpath as shown. Cnr of Welshpool and Tonkin Highway in Perth.

this is what needs to be taught more. we all know pedestrians have right of way but to still expect drivers to see a lone pedestrian while also trying to make an entrance onto busy roads with no green arrows is ridiculous, seen this way too many times that it gets easier to blame the pedestrians for lack of common sense, eye contact is the only trustworthy option for these situations.

How did he know that going into the oncoming lane was the correct thing to do? Or was it simply just a best guess?
swirving right into the incoming lane is 9/10 going to to be a terrible idea, because the other people are likely to swirve back into their lane when they realise, youll collide head on, and you will be found 100% liable
Well, looking at it now I would say he/she picked the best option. The person coming the other way could have done one of three things, stayed in the wrong lane, kept going further to their right and off the road, or veered back into the correct lane.
The Dashcam driver had to risk a head on, veer to his left off the road and still risk a collision if the other driver kept drifting over. Or he could go right and even if the other driver got back in the correct lane, he still had the other side of the road and his own original lanes as options.
@@vincentgrinn2665 100% liable and 100% dead. Yeah, my thoughts exactly about that dropkick waking up at the last moment and instinctively swerving back into his lane. I honestly don't know what I'd have done, and to be honest, it probably wouldn't have been what this dashcam driver did, and hence I probably would've ended up dead or very near close to it.
Maybe the adrenaline kicked in for this dashcam driver and his heightened senses meant he just "knew" that it was the right course of action. I'd be interested to know what his thoughts were because it clearly saved his life.
It is an instinctive reaction to avoid dying in a head on crash .

@@casperchung1159 Ahhh, good spotting! I take most of what I said back. DC driver should have still exercised a bit more caution there, but fault lies with other driver, as it is legal to drive over those painted lines, but you must give way when you do.
I go to great lengths to avoid turns like that. I try to turn left, and then find some way to loop around where I can turn back at a light. I don't know how people turn right across multi-laned traffic. Braver than I am!

A very congested intersection during afternoon rush hour. Instead of queing to turn right from the other side (backs up a long way, 3 or 4 light changes are normal) people go straight, do a U turn and exit left to beat the wait time, or use the footpath as shown. Cnr of Welshpool and Tonkin Highway in Perth.
