Could also say the cammer didn't indicate, except the light was turning red so they probably assumed no one was gonna run into them... in the bus lane... but of course, bad luck strikes...
@@AnotherDoug When travelling straight ahead it is deemed unsafe to change lanes while in the intersection under the Australian Road Rules as developed by the Australian Transport Council in 1999. The rule of thumb is that although there are no lane markings in the intersection, the markings present in the lane up to the start of the intersection continue through that intersection, and you are not to cross them. It is common in metro areas to see drivers caught in intersections blocking cross-traffic as congestion sees traffic bank up. These cars caught in the middle of an intersection as lights change force drivers to move their car to a lane where there is space to move forward out of the intersection. This is illegal and the Australian Road Rules state that you are not to proceed unless you can see, with certainty, there is space for your car on the other side of the intersection. While an increasing number of drivers ignore this rule, you are also not allowed to change lanes 15m out from an intersection or change lanes while in a roundabout.
DC is 100% at fault, as they moved into the path of the other driver; whether the other driver ran the red is not germane to the DC driver not checking the lane was clear before moving across.

Make them have to waste more of their time instead of letting them think that they’re above the law. He probably thought that he was going to save some time at the next intersection. Then there’s the fact that the fool is on the phone, how the camera owner showed this footage to the police.

First video I’ve watched of yours from ‘Down Under’ (I’ve subscribed), in a warped kind of way it’s amazing to see the standard of driving is so shit throughout the world! I thought it was just here in the UK that standards were so shit & that we showed an amazing level of entitlement but the more I watch any of these dash cam channels from around the world I realise that it’s a worldwide phenomenon!! And yet when these people end up dead or put in prison for killing someone else, their loved ones won’t understand why because they’re such great people (who just don’t know how to operate what in theory is a killing machine!!)
I found the UK much nicer than Australia when it came to driving... And watching Ashley Neal's channel, I still feel like the UK is much safer on the roads than Australia. People in his comments always seem shocked at things we would just ignore because it happens too often here in Australia. I for one would like to see a crackdown on generally pathetic driving, but automated speed cameras are just too easy to install.
The UK has lots of cameras on Traffic light intersections, half of these people would be off the road in weeks with the points and fines if Aus had the same.
Low standards of driving down here for sure; but high standards of swearing/reactions. You Brits are altogether too polite, though I suspect Ronnie Pickering has raised the average.
@@doctorbohr1585 yeah, something that really pisses me off is the muting of swearing, especially on these types of videos, crashes or dealing with people missing a fair few brain cells is an emotional thing & there’s no better way to show your emotions than to catch the first thing that comes out of someone’s mouth at the time!! Everything has got far too ‘politically correct’, it’s become embarrassing!
@@tin2001 I’d love to see far harsher sentences for the majority of things that go on on the roads, as I mentioned in my original comment, people are dealing with a killing machine, if people can’t handle that then it’s likely to result in only one thing & that’s death (or serious injury), our Justice System here is massively outdated & not fit for purpose but that’s a whole different story. Nothing amazes me now with the poor standard of driving, when you consider there must be hundreds (if not thousands) of these channels throughout the world & they are all posting tens of videos a week of piss poor driving, if the police dealt with half of them, there would be a lot less people causing havoc on the roads but on saying that, driving bans seem to do very little here as the majority of those banned ignore the bans & drive anyway & if caught again, they just get their ban extended!! But as I say, our justice system is a joke because how many times do you keep banning someone that is already banned or banning someone who has been drink-driving but then continues to do it?!? Banning persistent offenders is as affective as telling a pervert he can watch porn, it’s pointless because they will continue to do it!

And immediately after at 2:11 the scooter rider doing a wheelie is impressive on such a piece of crap. Dumb, but skillful.
21:15 Double lines don't actually make that maneuver illegal. Off memory, if traffic is clear, it's actually a legal maneuver with the bus stopped in traffic like that; I think the example my driving instructor gave was a completely stopped bin truck. But of course you have to see traffic to be able to do so safely, so it's that lack of visibility that would make it illegal.
Nope. Road Rule 139 only allows a driver to drive to the right of the dividing lines to avoid an "obstruction". The Rules state that the definition of "obstruction" specifically EXCLUDES a "vehicle stopped in traffic". Also, Rule 139 only allows crossing centre lines if the driver has a clear view of approaching traffic - in this case, the driver did NOT have a clear view otherwise he/she would not have commenced the overtake.

Obviously, it's important not to ignore other drivers entirely - one must give the middle finger to all and sundry. Oh, and if I'm in a hurry, or have a busy life, my needs come first - road rules don't apply and other drivers don't matter. Got it.
Was wondering how Australia has so many more 'interesting' dash cam clips than we have in UK. A very quick Google shows that you have about 3 times more dashcams and about 1/3 the number of drivers! Means you have about 9 times the number of cameras per head of population and you get crashes, close calls and incidents of bad & dangerous driving and, therefore more watchable channels, while we get clips of cyclists going through red lights.

Could also say the cammer didn't indicate, except the light was turning red so they probably assumed no one was gonna run into them... in the bus lane... but of course, bad luck strikes...
@@AnotherDoug
When travelling straight ahead it is deemed unsafe to change lanes while in the intersection under the Australian Road Rules as developed by the Australian Transport Council in 1999.
Week after week after week we get to watch new nominees for the Darwin Awards.
Honestly, our road toll should be 10x what it is.

I thought the occupants were derros who'd just had an argument - perhaps in a stolen car.
Lucky the truck wasn't heavily loaded
That truck driver at about 8:00 minutes into the video driving down the wrong side of the road, it’s good that the camera owner didn’t let him get away with it. I’d do and have down the same thing before to teach these pricks a lesson in respecting the rules of the road. Make them have to waste more of their time instead of letting them think that they’re above the law. He probably thought that he was going to save some time at the next intersection. If we teach them all that they aren’t above the law, then maybe they might do the right thing. Then there’s the fact that the fool is on the phone, how the camera owner showed this footage to the police.
cammer also ran the red light
No he didn’t run the red light at all, he was turning into the street legally as he had the lights. Whereas those people on the street and straight across from there had the red light. Have you thought about getting your eyes checked lol ?
Agreed. The more people who are gracious and give way to some muppet who is clearly doing the wrong, the worse it gets. They get more and more entitled to keep doing the same stupid stuff because they've gotten away with it before. I think making them back up and wait is the important lesson for them, otherwise they'll never learn.
A courtesy wave followed by a finger in the one merge. Can’t say I’ve ever encountered that.
I have been waiting to next video. I miss Australia 🇦🇺 🚙 Thanks for uploading
2:02. To be fair the rider didn’t do an illegal U-turn at the lights. He illegally rode along the pedestrian crossing over the traffic island just before the light. A much worse traffic offence.
And immediately after at 2:11 the scooter rider doing a wheelie is impressive on such a piece of crap. Dumb, but skillful.
I did think, that U-turn was cheeky. Not that dangerous, but definitely illegal as hell.
21:15
Double lines don't actually make that maneuver illegal.
10:38 - not really that bad, don't reckon it belongs on this channel...

We've learned that our insurance companies like the footage and don't argue claims if you've got proof.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes The camera doesn't lie but why we're so far behind I don't know. A lot of people here don't have a lot of money and are struggling but maybe if (established) insurance companies offered a discount this might help, but none seem to. Nextbase say that "half of customers can save over 30%" with them and I'll check them out when I renew.

Debatable considering they were already moving before the blue car had hit the give way and didnt even slow down.
@@TheRealMrCods Looking at google maps, they both have stop signs so yeah, the other would get a ticket for not stopping.
However, the dash vehicle could get a ticket for failing to give way (if the cop wanted to hand out tickets *which they do sometimes*)
I've actually been in this situation (from both sides) and find it is best to judge if the other is going to stop. i.e. better to avoid a crash if you can (regardless of who is in the wrong)
blue car has a STOP sign (you can see the back of it) and didn't stop prior to proceeding.
@@ChrisFoxtrot What the cops would do isn't very relevant as they would not attend a minor collision like this. It is up to the insurance companies to determine fault. In this case, I would say 50:50, both drivers at fault.
