I'd love to hear your thoughts on the story and characters in more detail since you were very thoughtful in your analysis here, it was much appreciated. If I was to give some feedback on the review contents, I think the one detail missing from the music section is not just the style change in songs, but the track volume and re-use of tracks due to said 3/4th decrease in track volume in the PSP version, and sound effects being largely removed for similar reasons. It's understandable, though since you most likely missed that since your experience was with the port, and the details like sound effects and track re-use are felt most strongly by those who experienced the overall mise en scène of the original game firsthand. I can't exactly ask someone to try and play that original version, though, so no worries on that front.

There's honestly many features from the first one that I feel would make the modern formula a lot more interesting from a gameplay standpoint, like how personae work or the way you have to position your party members
Mark just happened to bring an axe? Japan banned firearms so he had an axe. Sounds legit. Don't you carry a military grade assault axe for self defense? Also I hope you do more videos. I kind of started binging your videos on SMT since the one that made it to my autoplay from JohneAwesome's SMT5 let's play.

@@Tony4You Like why these high schoolers know how to use guns? Where DID they learn that from? Could it be their Personas? I recall stats being borrowed so perhaps they can also borrow combat knowledge?
In some ways this is my favorite Persona game Minus P2 IS. I actually enjoy the small strategic battle add on with the grid system. Not a fan of the P3/P4 music in it though.
Enjoying the game seems to put us in the minority, but I think it's amazing, not even just for it's time. Though I do think Persona 4 is the best in the series this one shouldn't be forgotten
@@Tony4You I loved persona 4 the vanilla version on its release but I’d be lying if I said I don’t try to temper the nostalgia factor i have for it. I had just beaten persona 3 FES after randomly picking it up from GameStop and suddenly found out persona 4 was coming out like 2 months later LOL

IGN has been around for 20+ years. A quick search reveals that they did review the older Persona games as they came out. There’s a review from 1997 for P1, Persona 2 EP in 2000 with an a 2018 update, Persona 1 PSP in 2009 and Persona 2 IS in 2011. Now if you’re talking about the specific reviewer at IGN that did SMT V, I suppose she would specifically have to review them, which I seems pointless since other writers wrote timely reviews.
Back in 1997 I got a hold of a copy of revelations: persona from a video story that was going out of business. I got it for 15 bucks. Then I came across the Anime Tokyo revelation wasn't sure if it was from the same series then that I knew this is what I was into Japanese high school kids using demons to survive in an apocalyptic world! Then I couldn't find anything for a couple years Then in 1999 I got Persona 2.... then I remember getting excited about getting a sega dreamcast so I can play Maken-X! 😂 then out of nowhere SMT 3: nocturne in 2003! Then Digital devil, Saga, and devil, summoning, After that I was hooked! And the years of searching the Internet before nocturne it was lonely and I was starving for Contant ever since 2003 though it's been a beautiful dream 😂
