You should be proud that you are still helping people with your video after all this time.I just did the fix today, problem solved. I like that you gave a good description of the symptoms as they matched mine. when I first started having this I thought the tire was rubbing something and holding me back because that abs kicking in at low speed really sounds like that. Thanks for your help!
This is awesome. Been having likely the same issue for several weeks and i had no clue what it was. Even took it to the shop....found a crapped out wheel bearing but they couldn't figure what the problem is - i really hope this resolves it.
Ran over a couple large pieces of metallic debris four days ago. One piece sounded like it hit inside front left wheel and then as I tried to avoid a heavy metal plate, it got raised enough to catch and I heard a hit at left rear wheel. I stopped and superficially reviewed where the impacts were, but today traction control, ABS, and stabiltrak lights came on. Thanks for giving me some clues
My mom's 2013 Impala had this same problem. When she would crank the steering wheel as she was backing out of the driveway, the traction control light would flash and lock up one of the wheels. She took it to the mechanic and he said that one of the front wheel bearings was bad and he changed that one wheel bearing out and charged her $400. That fixed the problem for 8 months. Now the problem has come back. Mom did not know which wheel bearing he had changed out, so I replaced both of them in the front, but now after one week of driving, my mom said the probem has come back. I ordered 2 new rear wheel bearings for the car and if that doesn't fix it, I will look at the wires. Thank you.
Yeah, this problem drives everyone crazy. Something to keep in mind though is the wire harness connectors could be the problem. That's what the problem was for the one I worked on, and I just had to fix it again this weekend because I should have used aluminum wire to jump across the connector instead of copper wire. The copper wire corroded and made it fail again. With the jumper wire, you don't have to worry about the connector making contact or not. Good luck, I hope you get it figured out.
Been having the same problems for about a year now had one mechanic “fix” it like 3/4 times and it’s still been doin the same thing I’m gonna look into this for sure because it’s driving me insane
Getting my car fixed at this moment been trying to figure out what this was will have my mechanic check this video out, he assumed it was my front suspension and I changed it all.
My car is 2013 also , it just got worse last 3 weeks , i mutted the chime temporarily. Had my tie rods replaced last year and the same day i got my car back it said service stablitrak abs ,
@Bob McGillicutty yeah can be the front driver side r the passenger front side I was about to sell my dumb car 😡😡😡 for me I clean the cable connector and stretch the cable cause it was like folded so that fix the issue but sooner r later gone buy the dumb cables
Holy shT I actually found a video that explains the exact problem like mine. I hate that this might be the problem, wires are an ass but cheap to fix. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO I'll check them wires out
To explain the problem like he did, it's when you turn and accelerate the (randomly) traction control light blinks and a horrible grinding/impact sound comes from the front near the Trans. Stops the car from moving forward until you release the pedal and press again. Went to impala forums and thought that wasn't it but now that a video like this is actually explained the way It is I'm definitely checking those cables out.
I got a deal on my Impala because when i test drove it from the car lot the TC, ABS and stabilitrak lights came on and i talked them down to 5k$ lol. It only had 84k miles on it and i knew it was a cheap fix like a wheel speed sensor
Thank you🙏❤ my 08 impala is doing this same thing & making a terrible sound when the traction control sticks..makes the whole car rumble but it was fine 5 mins before I made a sharp turn at bottom of a hill..was hoping it wasn't a super expensive fix (still am haha).
I just bought a 2008 Chevy Impala and it is doing the same thing...grinding when i turn left, stabilitrak is lighting up on dash, and ABS is on...i hope the wiring is the issue we will see Friday and i will let u guys know how it goes...i love the car its just that one issue no check engine light on so i was totally confused brakes was replaced upon my request before purchasing so i was confused on the grinding noise really weird how this is so common 😩
You could replace it as far up to the ABS system as you can, like I did, just to make sure you get what could be all the problems in the wires, but it would be a difficult job to get the pins or sockets (I forgot which it was) out of the connector without ruining anything else. I didn't think they sold the harness with the pins or sockets on the ends. Probably the easiest thing to do is replace about a foot to foot and a half of the harness.
Thank you! I had same issue with my 2013 Impala. I took it to 3 different mechanics, they couldn’t figure it out lol. One said it’s the shock. We changed both shocks but still have same problem. I’ve been driving it for 5yrs now with same problems. I hope this is the only problem. I’m glad I came across your video. Thank you Boss! How long it take you to change the harness and do you think anyone able to do it?
It takes a while to change the harness if you run it in the plastic protector as far as the wire will reach. I recommend soldering it to the old wiring up by the ABS brake box, but you could use wire connectors also I guess. This makes sure you get all the bad wire removed. In the end, I still had problems, so I ended up soldering wires from the wheel sensor connector to the new wire harness connector and at last, the car has never had the problem again. So what I'm saying is, just changing the harness alone is not always going to fix the problem, it is the connectors themselves that begin to cause the problem. I hope this helps.
@@ElectronicsEditor yes! This definitely helps a lot. I’m also facing another problem on my 2013 Impala. The controllers on steering wheel such as volume up, volume down, mute .. etc just stop working this week (the horn works fine). Have you ever face this problem? Thank you in advance.
@@gm3726 I had that happen on a Chrysler minivan and I did a quick search for yours and it seems to be the clock spring in the steering wheel. Change that and you should be good to go.
I have a ford flex and I think I got the same problem. Made a left turn and I instantly lost power felt like my drivers side wheel collasped in and a groaning sound. Let off gas Then just like that all is fine.
Good morning and thank you, it looks like i have same problem only happen when i turn left after a full stop on low speed, may i ask what the Part is to buy or order and thank you.
hmnn🤔.. so😯- we’re you implying, by your judging pin locations by color, that all the speed sensor wires are differant colors? & that there’s no other same such colors on that numerously wired ebcm?(in which the pin layout is well hidden btw.)
I followed the wired to the connector and then used a meter to check continuity for each wire to make sure it was the correct wire coming from that tire I was working on. I didn't pay to much attention to the other colors of all the other wires in the connector. It was pretty easy to find the correct wires.
Was yours every time you turned left or just intermittent? Ours does it intermittently when turning left and right going forward or in reverse. Seems to do it more when the car is first driving and not warmed up.
Yep, yours sound just like the problem this car was having. I'd start by checking the wire harness on the driver's side for a broken wire. Read my updates and you see what I finally ended up doing, but it does involve soldering two short wires to bypass the connector. With that being said, you still will probably have to replace the harness first.
You can pretty much get them anywhere. (Be sure to buy the one you need for the left side or right side. They probably will be different lengths and color-coded wires) For example: www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2013/chevrolet/impala/brake/abs_wheel_speed_sensor_connector.html or www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,2013,impala,3.6l+v6,1505614,electrical-connector,abs+wheel+speed+sensor+connector,762 or even www.amazon.com/Wheel-Speed-Sensor-Connector-Harness/dp/B01G4KIV7S
I Have 06 Impala SS and everytime I make a left turn traction light goes on and off , and when I'm making left turn it's like my car doesn't want to move any tips?
Could be a few things. The cable for the traction control for that wheel, the wheel hub, or bearing. Jack it up and spin the wheel to see if it's the bearing (you should hear and/or feel something). If it's not that, I'd try the wire harness for that wheel or for the other wheel before trying the hub or bearing. It's cheaper. It's probably not going to be the hub or bearing. Fingers crossed. Good luck.

@@ElectronicsEditor lol I kno thought about trading it in getting a charger lol and no just started happening mines also saying service brake assit, service traction control an service stabilitrak
@matt candela Yeah, this problem progressed over time in the car I worked on. It started out happening once in a while then got worse and worse. The key is to wiggle the wires going to the wheel as you keep your meter on it (continuity). Make sure you short the other end of the wires together to complete the circuit though. You can't check for continuity at just the end by the wheel, while the other end of the wires is connected at the other end.
My advice is to not go for the expensive fix first as most people do. Start with the wire harness. Also, read what I have written in my updates, it could save you time.

My 2013 just started making that noise a few days ago. It seemed to happen after I went through some slightly deep water. I got the flashing traction control light, also the check brake booster light, now they are out, and if I turn the traction control off, I don't get the noise.
That's one way to get around it, but you'll have to hit the button every time you get into the car and that will get old. My sister got tired of doing that. Lol
