  • CLARIFICATION 12/11/20: I used the phrase "World's Worst Painter" on the opening title, referring to MYSELF, not the sprayer. Some people apparently are misinterpreting my phrase "World's Worst Painter" to mean that I am CRITICIZING the sprayer. I am NOT. Like other people, I purchased this sprayer because it was the highest-rated, and I have no reason to believe otherwise.
    * I made this video to try to discuss topics which I was not able to find in most other videos -- such as:
    (a) spraying STRAIGHT UP to paint a ceiling (it DOES this, Part. 1B)
    (b) what the instructions say about spraying overhead (Part. 1C)
    (c) spraying around loose insulation (Part 4)
    (d) practicing with water (Part 13)
    (e) how long you can let it sit "idle" when it's 'loaded' with paint, before you have a problem with the paint drying too much (about 30 minutes, Part 14).
    * My discussion of problems with the loose insulation were intended to point out the limitations of this TYPE of High Volume Low Pressure air sprayer, and NOT a criticism of the Homeright.
    A. ~~~~~~ WHAT I WAS DOING: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|
    * This cramped crawl space required me to spray straight up in many places, using the "HomeRight Super Finish Max HVLP Paint Sprayer".
    * The crawl space had loose insulation on the ends, so the sprayer could be used only for the center part, due to the high volume of air blowing the insulation around when I got too close to the ends. This is NOT a criticism of the Homeright, just a limitation of this type of sprayer.
    * Note this is the newest model -- called the "HomeRight SUPER Finish Max".
    * The older, less-capable model is the very-similar-appearing "HomeRight Finish Max" (lacking the word "Super").
    * These 2 Homeright sprayers are "HVLP (High Volume, Low Pressure air) AIR sprayers -- as opposed to the Graco and similar brands which make AIRLESS sprayers.
The AIRLESS sprayer would probably work better around the loose insulation, but from what I've heard, they are a little more expensive, and may use more paint (I have no experience with the airless type).

Its amazing to me how many people are criticizing the title of your video... but if they actually watched the video instead of just drawing assumptions based on the title they would see that you're actually NOT criticizing the sprayer, but criticizing yourself with that title. What I got from the title is that the sprayer is so good that even the world's worst painter can use it and get good results :) I didn't find it misleading at all, because I actually read the title which said "worlds worst PAINTER" (as in the person), not "worlds worst SPRAYER" (as in the tool). Thanks for the video! Very informative and helpful!

Very Nice video with some subtle self deprecation.
I watched at least 10 videos using this tool on furniture etc under perfect conditions and this video was quite refreshing about a tuff environment.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have a job working 11-13 hours a day and don't have the time on the weekends to do an old school paint application for the new home I'm moving my family into.

Good video and similar challenges I faced that the other neat and tidy videos didn't alert me to. You on the other hand are spot on.

James, there are different roller covers you can buy. Some have a deeper pile and hold more paint. A shorter pile won't lay as thick a coat of paint. Great video!

I’m curious as to why you’re even painting the crawl space. Just curious.

    • @JamesRobertIngram
      @JamesRobertIngram  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This may reveal me as "obsessive compulsive" or similar. However, the white paint (1) makes the space a WHOLE LOT BRIGHTER and easier to SEE things, and (2) a bit easier to sweep up dust off the floor if ever necessary (smooth paint vs rough, unpainted wood).

    • @src4409

I believe he's in an attic. I think some people call this a crawl space, which is actually under the house. It could also be a difference of terms based on where one is from.

Mine broke on second use. No warranty. I used once to paint my fence. After more tgan a year i try to use agai. It worked but after 5 min it stops. Never turn on again. Is there any way to repair it?

Buy you another one then send the broken one back for a refund in the box that the new one came in and use that new receipt. They shouldnt sell crap and you shouldnt be stuck with it.

always save your box and return it without a reciept for an exchange

@@nikkid8519 I would never thought on that. In my country when you buy something you never have warranties. I did not full understand how the warranty works in the usa. Thanks a lot for this advice. You are very smart.

No, it says right on the directions you’re supposed to use it level or at a slight angle. These types of sprayers are meant for small projects not painting ceilings

    • @JamesRobertIngram
      @JamesRobertIngram  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You CAN paint a ceiling. At 1:00 I show part of a video by 'Nestrs, LLC' -- that shows them painting a ceiling. I used the Homeright to paint the ceiling of my crawlspace.

Really not understanding why a thin sheet of cardboard wasnt used to scrim the loose insulation. I see people keeping the spray off windows using those so I suspect that method could hold any loose insulation in place.
Could be your project was too challenging for the unit but the thousands of positive ratings suggest alot of general satisfaction.

    • @JamesRobertIngram

It seemed easier to use a roller, in my situation. My discussion of problems with the loose insulation were intended to point out the limitations of this TYPE of High Volume Low Pressure air sprayer, and NOT be a criticism of the Homeright.

OP: this is the worst sprayer ever!
Also OP: proceeds to use it in the exact way the directions say it SHOULDNT be used.
Seriously everyone agrees, this is the best sprayer you can find for the money... as long as you use it as intended

    • @conniesisco6468

At first I thought the same thing. I think his title is misleading. I think he is saying that he is the worst painter ever, not the spraygun. I never heard him actually say that the gun was a bad sprayer.

Should change your video title...to why this sprayer sucked for YOU...Not because the sprayer just sucks in general....A lot of people that don't have money will buy something cheaper expecting it to act like an expensive tool that's made for a specific job..Example buying a Kia expecting to do the same thing as a corvette...you got to pay to play...
