  • Honda Fit transmission fluid check. Be careful! Hot surfaces all around the area of the dipstick, your hand and arm!

This is for automatic trans only, the dipstick is in the car at a slight angle, about 20 degrees pointed towards the drivers wheel. It's not threaded, but you can rotate it some to help loosen before pulling up and out. If you need, turn car off and let cool, loosen and re-install, start car and warm up, check again.

The owner's manual doesn't recognize this method. It says to, *run the motor until the radiator fans come on, *turn off engine check that level is at top line, if low add through dipstick tube Slowly!

So the guy that made the video loved this comment but diddnt adjust anything in the video about turning the engine off. Very misleading.

I thought you needed to check it with the motor off too

haha, i appreciate your candour in how awkwardly placed the dipstick is to get the trans fluid. Had a similar experience with my old civic and agree that your "close one eye" trick is the ticket. Silly but true. Maybe it's a honda thing?

You do NOT check trans fluid in any Honda with the engine running.

Thank you, yes the original video was intended for location more than anything. MOST modern cars you check the fluid hot, engine off, level, in park.

There are only a few that you still check while running. The Original dipstick in the Early 2007 models were calibrated for level check when running, as per two different local Honda service departments. The new dipstick is Honda 25610-P4R-A01 (the designation of first revision)
In this quick video I should have noted the uniqueness of this early production, and I appreciate all the comments. The intent was the location description. Everyone's comments help us all. Thank you! (Side note: the difference of the original and revised dipstick level is minimal)

I'm pretty sure the way I was taught was to run the car until it gets hot turn it off and check it I don't ever remember being taught to check your transmission fluid while the motor is running?

at least they put a dipstick in at all! My Audi has no check!

Many German made, including nearly all Mercedes-Benz, have a tube with a sealed cap. Dealer and parts stores have a dipstick 'tool' to be purchased separately, or many just have a 17mm hex-plug in the side (Yep, under the car)

why does Honda make so difficult to reach the transmission fluid reservoir ? These engineers are insane.. they might as well hide the whole damn thing so no one can find except Honda Motors...

Thanks. Within a week , I will try to find a manual to make a video for you. This video is for the automatic transmission. A manual transmission gear oil check will be a different procedure.

th-cam.com/video/DSQa14Qa89s/w-d-xo.html this video is the entire transmission oil refill, but in the video they show you how to check the level. You have to get under the car to do it. Be safe, have fun. :-)

After reading so many comments on engine being on or off, I invite the TH-cam video makers to come up with video of jazz manual transmission check while car is cruising at 70kmph on 5th gear. Mechanic gonna have use skaheboard and drive car down to Arizona or Nevada or somethin

what the cause if the transmission fluid is low?

    • @automlibexcellent3020
      @automlibexcellent3020 ปีที่แล้ว

Mostly leakage from somewhere. In rare cases oil burn out due to heat

Thanks. The owner's manual on this car specified CVT. Check your manual or with your auto parts store. I purchased a case from Honda, the genuine fluid was $1.75 each more. well worth the money to have piece of mind
