I love all of your videos. You guys are great. If you like the tofu dish then you must definitely try Lemongrass Chili Tofu (Đậu Hũ Chiên Sả Ớt) the next time you're in Vietnam
@@mikeandashley Most Fried Tofu dish in Vietnam is primarily served as an appetizer and can be found in most regions but I've only tried it in the Deep South (Rach Gia City) Be well and stay safe on your travels and also, Ashley is absolutely beautiful.
We literally went to that exact bahn mi stand in Hanoi for bahn mi and tea and it was so fantastic! Loved this video, reminds me that we need to go back to Vietnam 😂
Yeah, Dong Da is the vibe for sure. That and Truc Bach are probably our favorite neighborhoods. Close to the popular places by motorbike/taxi but far enough away to get some peace and quiet. Plus the people are just so chill.
Thank you! 🥰🤗 We’ve actually been to Ninh Binh (Tam Coc) and LOVED it! We still need to see so much there. But our video can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/tWDvidqgYiQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QwgVwPYGL_eVNwF3
Well Mike we have taken your advise and just booked a hotel in Dong Da for our Hanoi stay. It’s not that far from Old Quarter but probably not so “ beep beep honk honk” !!!. Thanks for the tip. Max. Australia.
Love this casual-style video. It's like vlogging of what you guys do on a typical day in Hanoi. The people, scenes, food, etc., were all a glimpse into what life is like there on an average day. I like how you guys explored the alleys and hidden gems that other vloggers whom fast travel don't get to see/experience.
We are kind of experimenting with posting a few more “day in the life” type of videos here and there. Just a bit more causal. We’re happy you liked it! The alleys in Vietnam is where the real magic happens! We spend a lot of time exploring them in our day to day, but always feel shy to record, as we don’t want to just broadcast everyone’s lives online. 😅
@@mikeandashley Yeah, Max McFarlin loves the alleys of Hanoi. Sonny from the Best Ever Food Review Show did a video when he first got there that was like a love letter to Vietnam in a video titled "The Hidden Vietnam". It's a different type of video than he typically makes on the channel and it's beautifully done. You can find it here th-cam.com/video/Uqj7eOiQBh4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much! That’s honestly our favorite part about traveling. We don’t always film it as we don’t want to just put people on the internet, but meeting and interacting with locals is the best part. ☺️
BTW, that salted coffee is interesting as the ones I've seen people try, the salted whipped cream foam is what is salted, but you guys said the coffee itself was salted. And typically they'd stir the salted whipped cream with the coffee before drinking.

Pho is a breakfast food in vietnam! Most specialty pho places in Hanoi are closed by 11am! We had the same issue trying to find them ourselves, they were closed for lunch and dinner. Delicious though, and gotta love those little blue stools.
This place actually opens at 6pm! Which is why we waited around for so long. Our favorite place, just outside of old quarter is only open super early and super late, but closes during the middle of the day. Pho for breakfast is the best! 🙌
When you’ve traveled the length of the country, and try and learn a little bit of the language, only to be told you’re doing it wrong in different regions, it kind of sticks! 😅😂 It makes sense, people in the US speak differently depending on where you go too.
I have watched all of your videos in Vietnam, I hope you will have many new experience videos in Vietnam. Visit families in the Vietnamese countryside, where they are very hospitable and kind.
We would love to! We need to figure out reliable transportation to get around out of the major cities so we can do this. I think the next time we return to Vietnam, we’d like to explore more of the rural side of the country. ☺️
@12:08 I believe she said her favorite was “quả roi”, which I did some research into this, is known by its scientific name “Syzygium malaccense”, or commonly known as Malay rose apple. However, in Vietnamese, “quả” means “fruit” in general. “Roi”, however, when used separately, it literally means the whip (the thing you use to hit people) so the translator just called it “whip fruit” 😂
HI! Love your videos! Can you please tell me what area you suggest to stay in Hanoi. I know that the old quarter is very busy. But considering where you want to be because that is where most of the things you will want to visit. Where would you suggest? Or if it old quarter is where most of everything is. But you think that there is someplace in walking distance that is a little less busy. Thanks for any input!
So for your first time in Hanoi, staying in the Old Quarter is probably preferred as most of the activities you’d want to do and sights you want to see will be centralized around that area. We recommend this place to stay: booking.tp.st/AyJYFw73 as it’s just outside of the hectic part of old quarter and around some really nice places to eat. That being said, depending on what you call “walking distance” the neighborhoods of Ba Dinh, Dong Da and Truc Bach are all really nice places to stay, with their own character and are about a 20-30 min walk to the heart of Old Quarter. We always suggest spending at least 3-4 days in Old Quarter during your first visit, but if you can, checking out these neighborhoods can be really rewarding!
You have an extremely convenient translation machine that can break down many language barriers and learn about many cultures around the world. Vietnamese is extremely difficult and is the only country in Asia with a script that uses Latin characters, created by Portuguese, Italian and French priests, you know. Before that, Vietnam used Nom characters similar to Chinese characters
Oh wow! We’ve seen the Chinese type of characters around Vietnam, so that explains a lot. The device is quite helpful, specifically when we don’t have data on our phones!
You can get high quality coffee for that price as well in Vietnam. This was the price for one specialty coffee and a mocktail tonic with chia seeds. ☺️ Though we LOVE N. Thailand as well! 🤗
