Foreign tourists who come to Hanoi for a few days will find everything new and attractive. But after a long life, termites clearly see that Hanoi is not a city worth visiting, because everything is cutthroat, and the food contains toxic chemicals.
As a Vietnamese I'm very happy and grateful for your realistic video about our capital Hanoi! You has had a big & deep step into our culture! Thanks for you amazing video and welcome to our country again ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 🥰 We’re happy you enjoyed our video. Hanoi is an amazing city and we hope to return and explore more of the rich culture there. It’s such a vibe and we loved it!

Wow, this video brought us back, for sure! Glad you enjoyed our food recommendations! It made us super happy seeing you guys explore Hanoi. We spent an entire year there, so it will always hold a big piece of our heart. You really captured the vibe of this incredible city. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Looking forward to seeing your other Vietnam adventures. Great job, guys! 🇻🇳

Seems like a lot of Western vloggers love Hanoi. I think they are drawn by the mixing of Vietnamese with French in the architecture and the food as well as the whole historical and traditional aspect to the city that places like HCMC lost due to it's zest to be too modern and Western. Foreigners don't necessarily want to travel abroad to see what they can find at home, especially if they are on vacation.

Today I've just watched your videos of travelling in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. That's a fascinating experience that you had. Welcome to Viet Nam more and more times again :3 Thank you!

We always welcome all friends from five continents, regardless of whether their country has invaded or sent troops to Vietnam or not. I think we've been through enough pain. Yea, Hanoi and Hoi An are certainly two amazing places! We’d love to visit the Philippines someday, everything there looks out of a dream! 🤗 Tha La for watching! ☺️
I love the way you film and edit your video! ❤love your energy and the way you approach new things as you go as well. You guys are definitely the best people to travel with. Keep up the good work guys! Absolutely love it!

Hi Mike and Ashley, Thank you so much for loving Hanoi! If you guys go back here, please check out some nearby spots with great reviews for these local dishes: 1.Bún Chả 2.Bún Thang 3.Chả Cá Lã Vọng 4.Bánh Gối 5.Bánh Tôm Hồ Tây 6.Xôi Xéo 7.Kem Tràng Tiền (especially the green rice ice cream sticks) Enjoy the flavors of Hanoi, and hope to see you back here soon!😊
Your recommendations came at the perfect time! We're back in Hanoi now and plan to spend the next couple of months exploring more of the country. So happy to be back. 🥰
Hi Mike and Ashley :)) It's Bessy Q, your fellow classmate over from LaunchPad here. I LOVE your content!!! As a Vietnamese born and raised in Hanoi, I am extremely happy to see you have so much travel content in Vietnam I laughed out loud when Mike commented on how the bus ride was less than ideal and the 8 minute walk becoming 30 minute walk and even when you guys got lost later haha. Let me just be realistic and admit the GPS is sometimes entirely useless for navigating in Vietnam 🤣 but it's ok I get lost there too. Ashley I love your giggle when you enjoy food. You guys definitely should come back for more yummy food; if you want more Hanoi-origin dishes besides bánh cuốn, try bánh đúc as well :))
Hey Bessy Q! 🤗 Thanks so much for checking out our videos! We LOVE Vietnam, especially Hanoi. We’re actually back here right now! We just arrived on the 1st. It’s definitely one of our favorite cuisines, so we’re 100% going to try any recommendation you have! We have run into some funny issues GPS wise, but that’s honestly everywhere we’ve traveled! We’re going to be filming some more videos here in Hanoi and in some surrounding parts of northern Vietnam. We’re so excited. We never want to leave! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! Hope you’re having a lovely New Year so far! ☺️🥰
They are so good! That’s awesome, what an amazing story. We loved our time there so much, that we stayed again this time we were in Hanoi. A video coming out will feature Truc Bac as well! Thanks for watching. ☺️🙏
The train cafe you can go there in the evening, you will have a chance to see the train running pass by, very close even you sit in the cafe. And the street there looked very charming in the evening.
I am a native here. About the train cafe. That's where the local government doesn't want tourists to visit. But because the number of tourists is so large, there will be a period when the regional police will be soft for those cafes to operate for economic benefits. After a while they harden again not to let tourists visit. But then they are soft for tourists to visit. That's the interesting chorus I've observed over the last 4 years not excluding the covid years.
From what I was able to glean, a Korean tourist did something he wasn't supposed to and got hurt, so they shut down Train Street. last year However, vendors can invite the visitors to their shops (assuming they buy a drink or food) vs letting everyone in to just walk around the tracks. Probably a way to control the crowd and their guests, but also a way to bypass the authorities. But there are also other less known and popular areas of the track that visitors can go to now.
Interesting! That makes a bit more sense. We saw photos all over Instagram of people playing on the tracks, getting photos, having coffee, etc. There was so much information, but nothing mentioned just not being able to go until 9pm. We didn’t want coffee at 9pm haha, so we skipped it unfortunately. We’ll just have to check it out next time. 🤗 Thanks for the information!
We looked for a “back way in” for a few minutes, just to see, but ultimately didn’t want to break any rules. It looked like the direction we went, the train crossed over the road from above. We enjoyed heading towards Tay Ho and playing with cute dogs and eating food though! ☺️
What a beautiful and poignant presentation of Maison Centrale (Hoa Lo Prison)! I am Vietnamese, and those few minutes of the video really moved me in a very unexpected way! This might be my favorite Hanoi video.
Thank you for your kind words. We filmed so much more of the prison that we edited out, but the prison really affected us, and we wanted to include more. We're happy you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching! 🥰🙏
Great video, Those emotional exhibits are such hard things to film. You guys did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to your next one!
Thanks so much guys! 🤗 Thanks for watching. Yea, it was a heavy place to be for sure. And we weren’t quite sure how to include it in the video. But I’m glad you guys feel it worked. Definitely something everyone should see when they visit Hanoi, and I’m sure there is plenty of other things we missed too.
Pretty sure the pho cuon was supposed to be dipped into the fish sauce and maybe you did that later, but in case you didn't, if it comes with fish sauce, dip it or pour it over whatever you're eating (if it's like a noodle bowl). The dips/sauces often are the carriers of the flavor for that specific meal. That one place with all the doggies...cuteness overload!
The pups were SO cute! We met so many lovely dogs in Vietnam. We do typically try the dishes with everything provided. Sometimes it’s just not on camera. It took us a while to get used to the flavor of fish sauce, which is why we usually ate thing with chili sauce or similar. But we grew to really enjoy it! We just also LOVE the flavor of the chili sauces and pastes in Vietnam. ☺️
Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam. A friendly and peaceful city. Hope you will come back to this beautiful and lovely city. Wishing you much happiness and good health.
@@mikeandashley Yeah, anytime you see yellow paste like that inside of something (e.g. desserts or snacks, but can be in savory foods as well), it's typically mung beans.
I'm stoked I found your channel Mike and Ashley!! My partner and I are heading to Vietnam in 2 weeks and you're vlogs have been amazing. I've made soooo many notes on my phone of food to try and where to find it from your recommendations haha. Can't wait to see the Halong Bay Episode. Thank you all the way from Lord Howe Island, Australia. :)
I believe Nov shall be much cooler I've heard it's 23-15 c. Heat is ok but 38c whoa that's terribly warm. That's not cilantro it looks more like coriander to me. I am gonna put on weight in Hanoi for sure! Loved Hanoi and eat so much !! It's unbelievable how good the food is here are my recommendations do try the avocado coconut or mango smoothie it's to die for! Buy dried passionfruit and other fruits to make tea will add the address in case anyone would like to buy. Bun cha at bun cha is a must try it's simply awesome the portions are huge though I couldn't finish it alone
The food is quite good, so you could be in danger of putting on the lbs/kgs. However, we found it to be quite easy to stay in shape in Vietnam as the food is fresh and seems quite healthy! Yeah, we're looking forward to late November temps in Hanoi and northern Vietnam.
Aw, thank you so much! This comment means the world to us. 🥰🥰🥰 We loved our short time in Hanoi and cannot wait to return. We wanted to do the best we could to do the city the justice we feel like it deserves. Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Loved the vlog guys 😊 We have been to Hanoi long time ago and after watching your video we really want to go again 😍 I think trip to Vietnam is on a cards very soon 😉
September-October or March-April is the most pleasant and cool time of the year. That time is very suitable to enjoy the atmosphere of Hanoi. Especially if you have the opportunity to experience Hanoi's autumn, you will remember it forever
I love banh cuon and think everyone should try it, not sure how that place compares to others as different vendors add different toppings with theirs. I'm here for the fried crunchy puffy rice sheet (I think the greens are Chinese broccoli, not water spinach). I'd highly recommend doing a food tour next time you're in Hanoi as they have really great guides there from the videos I've seen. Thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful shots of the city and people going about their day.
Thanks so much! ☺️ We loved all the food we tried. I’m not sure why we didn’t do a food tour. Maybe it was because we didn’t want to come across as trying to imitate other channels, as it’s quite popular to do them. But now we feel like we will absolutely come back and do one. There’s so much we could learn! The fried rice sheet was also my favorite. So delicious!
We just got back from Hanoi. We miss it so much, and this video brought us back there. GREAT video! I’m surprised how empty the streets were in your videos!! Maybe people are flocking there now in November but it was definitely more packed!
We are actually currently in Sa Pa, so hopefully we can get our vlogs caught up so we can get the new Vietnam content out soon! We do also plan on Ha Giang! We have the 90 day visa, so we hope to stay here as long as possible now. 🤗🤗
Just found your channel and wow how great is Hanoi, my wife and I are planning to visit Vietnam and Cambodia so seeing your videos helps us to see what life is like and offers inspiration, thank you.
That’s awesome! We’re happy you found them! And yea, we LOVE Hanoi! We’re actually planning a Cambodia trip as we speak! We hope you enjoy your trip. 😊🙏
Fact: Hoa Lo Prison has always been a more reserved location but since the new generation took charge of the social media marketing, it blew up. They keep up with the latest trends/ memes and utilize social media to increase the recognitions among youngster, which I think is an excellent move and should be carefully considered for other attractions as well.
That’s brilliant! It had such an impact on us; we definitely recommend going and think everyone could benefit from learning about the events that happened there.
@@mikeandashley Ashley, you had made a comment about the women and their children during the war. You may want to take a look at the women's museum there as well next time you come. I believe it's a small museum about the role women played in the war. A couple of vloggers have gone there and mentioned it's worth a visit.
Such a great video about Hanoi. I LOVE IT. Fyi: the filling of the donut is actually bean paste, it is one of the most often-used filling in Vietnamese traditional deserts 😊
Thank you so much! 🤗 We’ve heard, who knew! 🤷♂️🤷♀️ It was so delicious! Ngon! We love those donuts. Every time we see a vendor now, it’s so tempting to buy a bag full! Thanks for watching! 🥰🥰
The rolled Pho noodles with beef are really good in that restaurant! A few minutes away there is a cocktail bar called Langthang which is worth checking out.
Yea, it’s crazy delicious. All of Truc Bach is really! And nice to know, we’ll have to check that out next time we’re in Hanoi! Cheers, and thanks for the recommendation! 🙏🙏
Ahh Hanoi so beautiful !! I was born there then moved to US. Been 8years since ive been back ='( def gonna visit soon! Ha Long Bay Cruise is gorgeous ! you guys will have so much fun memories! Enjoy ! Thank you for sharing your experience =)
Tips on Vnese food guys : u gotta dip it in the sauce first , heavy or light dip depends on the saltiness of the sauce 😍Like 90% of the time 😙Love the editing and the trip!
You should dip the Pho Cuon in the prepared fish sauce like you did for the Banh Cuon to enhance the taste and flavour of those rolls . That fish sauce makes all the difference for those dishes . The yellow stuff inside the Banh Ran balls is actually mung bean paste.
@@mikeandashley The food would be extra bland without fish sauce. Fish sauce is either used in the cooking of the dish or used to dip/pour onto the meal. Oft times, if it's made to be dipped or poured into the meal, if you don't do it, you won't get any flavor at all. If you're not a fish sauce fan, then you may need to find dishes that are cooked with other sauces in them...which would be a bit challenging in Vietnam.
We don’t mind fish sauce, it’s just usually not our first choice of dipping, but we did get used to it in the end. The flavor is quite good, the smell is interesting for us! 😅😂 It really does enhance the dish, especially with some chilis, garlic and vinegar! 😋
It's more fun to see you two in Vietnam. Such adorable! The part where Ashley tried to figure the directions was hilarious lol. Hope to see you two in Vn again.
We will be back for sure! There’s so much left to explore! And yea, Ashley and directions is often hilarious… welcome to my life! 😂 Thanks for watching! We’re happy you liked the video. 🤗

Yea, Hanoi and Hoi An are certainly two amazing places! We’d love to visit the Philippines someday, everything there looks out of a dream! 🤗 Tha La for watching! ☺️
Thank you for loving our country. We love you
Thank you so much! Vietnam (and the people) are easy to fall in love with. 🥰

Hi Mike and Ashley, Thank you so much for loving Hanoi! If you guys go back here, please check out some nearby spots with great reviews for these local dishes:
1.Bún Chả
2.Bún Thang
3.Chả Cá Lã Vọng
4.Bánh Gối
5.Bánh Tôm Hồ Tây
6.Xôi Xéo
7.Kem Tràng Tiền (especially the green rice ice cream sticks)
Enjoy the flavors of Hanoi, and hope to see you back here soon!😊
Your recommendations came at the perfect time! We're back in Hanoi now and plan to spend the next couple of months exploring more of the country. So happy to be back. 🥰
Hanoi is so amazing City ❤❤ coffee looks delicious 😋😋
It really is! We can’t wait to return.
Thanks for the tip! The one man told us to come back at 9pm, but we didn’t want to have coffee that late, so we passed. ☺️
Thank you for visiting our beautiful city.
Of course! It won't be the last time. We've just booked our tickets back for in less than a month! We can't wait.
Chúc 2 vợ chồng có chuyến trải nghiệm VN đầy ý nghĩa nhé
Thank you so much. We have loved every minute of it!
The puppies were my favourite part 😂😂 SO CUTE
Same! They were so adorable. The food at the restaurant was good too. 🥰
Yeah, and they really did a great job of filming it, too.
@doodahgurlie, thank you so much! 🥰
Why don't you set a notification to play new videos as usual. people don't seem to see much
Do you mean the premieres?
@@mikeandashley Oh that's right, the premiere will be grand and everyone will gather 😊
We will do this next time if we’ll be available! ☺️ Glad you enjoy them!
Thank you for beautiful filming about Vietnam, btw the donuts filling were green bean tho
Thank you so much! The donuts were so good. We never knew we liked mung bean until coming to SE Asia, but now we’ve realized we love it! 🥰
Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam. A friendly and peaceful city.
Hope you will come back to this beautiful and lovely city.
Wishing you much happiness and good health.
We’ve already been back two more times and it won’t be the last. Hanoi has our hearts forever. 🥰
Bạn đã tới Sapa, Tràng An, Tam cốc, Bích động ( Ninh Bình), Hạ Long Bay, Phú Quốc, Nha Trang, Đà Nẵng chưa?
Almost all of those! We have vlogs about them too. 🤗
The filling of Banh Ran donuts is actually ground mung beans. Enjoy Vietnam guys!!!
Oh nice! We’ve had things filled with mung bean before, that makes sense. ☺️
@@mikeandashley Yeah, anytime you see yellow paste like that inside of something (e.g. desserts or snacks, but can be in savory foods as well), it's typically mung beans.
Makes sense! So many uses for it. We’ve seen it all over SE Asia.
Welcome to Hanoi, my hometown. This is a great city , wish you happiness and health
It IS a great city. We love it. 🥰 Thanks for watching.
You guys are amazing and full of energetic… love to watch your videos ❤
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoy the videos. We love making them. 🥰
That's so awesome! We're glad we can help and hope you enjoy your time in Vietnam. Reach out to us with any questions. Safe travels! 😊
Good to know you love our country 🥰🥰☺☺
We really do! We just flew into Hanoi yesterday with three-month visas, and we can't wait to explore more of the country. 🥰❤️
Hanoi from your perspective is so vivid, thank you for these realistic footage
Wow, that compliment means the world to us. Thank you. 🥰🥰 We’re happy you enjoyed the video.
Great video guys! Hopefully you have good time in my country!
Thank you so much! We’ve had an amazing time. Vietnam is such a beautiful place. ☺️
Chúc 2 bạn có chuyến du lịch Hà Nội tuyệt vời. ❤, bánh tôm, chả cá, bún đậu, phở gà…
Thanks! We have been loving the food here.
Love you guys positive, open minded vibe
Thank you so much! We try to stay positive. 😊
Pho Bac (northern pho) is the best! I'm from Saigon but I always like Pho Bac better than southern pho.
We did, too! All pho is delicious, but we especially loved pho in Hanoi. 🤭
This video made us miss Vietnam! Thank you for taking us back through your wonderful VLOG! Safe travels!
We’re so glad you enjoyed the video! We’re missing Vietnam too and are so excited to return in December. Do you have any plans to go back?
To be honest, i've seen a lot of videos about my city of Hanoi but your video touches me the most! I'm happy to know that you guys enjoyed Hanoi!
Aw, thank you so much! This comment means the world to us. 🥰🥰🥰 We loved our short time in Hanoi and cannot wait to return. We wanted to do the best we could to do the city the justice we feel like it deserves. Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Great vlog guys! We went to the exact same place to try egg coffee and we also had a great catch-up with an old friend there! Great memories! ✨
Thanks so much guys! ☺️ That cafe is everything! We were so lucky to find a good seat. The cafes in Hanoi in general are all so magical. ☺️
Loved the vlog guys 😊
We have been to Hanoi long time ago and after watching your video we really want to go again 😍 I think trip to Vietnam is on a cards very soon 😉
Thanks for watching guys! 🤗 Vietnam is the vibe for sure, and you guys are so close! Would love to see your take on it. ☺️
Have a trip to visit Hanoi capital with lots of fun and happiness, you two ^^
Thank you so much! 🥰
I love your smiles. Can't wait for your next video :) I hope you do more vids in Vietnam.
Aw, thanks so much! We will, we will be visiting again later this year with some friends and we can’t wait to explore a bit more.
September-October or March-April is the most pleasant and cool time of the year. That time is very suitable to enjoy the atmosphere of Hanoi. Especially if you have the opportunity to experience Hanoi's autumn, you will remember it forever
We’ll keep that in mind! Sounds like the beautiful seasons from where we used to live in North Carolina.
Indeed, we are here right now!
We’re so jealous of you! We can’t wait to return in a few months!
The beautiful country of Vietnam
It is incredible!
I love this season, so beautiful, so many flowers in Hanoi
Hanoi is lovely, isn’t it? 🥰
Welcome to VN!
Thank you so much! 🙏🥰
Cảm ơn bạn đã yêu Hà Nội ! ❤ Video đẹp ! 👍
Thank you so much for watching! It’s hard not to fall in love with such an incredible city. We’re dreaming of coming back soon!
Vietnamese people are so friendly, like the dogs welcome you guys😆
We’ve met so many lovely dogs in Vietnam. 🥰
We just got back from Hanoi. We miss it so much, and this video brought us back there. GREAT video! I’m surprised how empty the streets were in your videos!! Maybe people are flocking there now in November but it was definitely more packed!
We just got back yesterday and already feel at home here; the people are so welcoming. It is definitely busier than the last time we visited though! 😅
@@mikeandashley please enjoy it for us!! How long will you guys stay there and where will you tour??? Sapa? Ha Giang loop?? Can’t wait for videos!!
Oh wow! That does sound right up my alley. Thanks so much for the recommendation. ☺️
Thanks guys, for the video.
We were in Hanoi in April and I already miss my hometown. 😁
Thank you for watching! We also miss Hanoi. It’s an amazing city and we already have plans to return in a few months. 😊
@@mikeandashley Awesome, we are planning to go next time again.
Have fun 😎
Same to you! ☺️
Super amazing video which is very useful for my next trip to Hanoi.
We’re so glad we could help! Have fun on your next trip to Hanoi. We can't wait to return. 😊
Your video is amazing
Thank you so much! 🤗
I'm in love with Vietnam
Same! It’s an amazing country.
Such a great video about Hanoi. I LOVE IT. Fyi: the filling of the donut is actually bean paste, it is one of the most often-used filling in Vietnamese traditional deserts 😊
Thank you so much! 🤗
We’ve heard, who knew!
everyone is so happy
Truly! We absolutely adore Hanoi! 🤗
Fun travel to Vietnam food everything is cheap and fun
It really is. We love Vietnam and can't wait to return in December! 🥰
Hà Nội phải ở 1 năm mới cảm nhận hết 4 mùa xuân , hạ , thu, đông thì mỗi mùa có 1 cảm xúc riêng của nó 😂
We wish we could! We love Vietnam. 🥰
You guys are a natural at this, and i really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work.
That means a lot to us. Thank you so much! 🙏❤️

Thanks so much for watching! Hanoi is certainly beautiful. It quickly became one of our favorite cities in the world. 🥰
Tips on Vnese food guys : u gotta dip it in the sauce first , heavy or light dip depends on the saltiness of the sauce 😍Like 90% of the time 😙Love the editing and the trip!
We didn't like fish sauce when we filmed this, but we’ve since realized it has its place. 😅
Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Tuyệt vời quá,2 bạn luôn có một trái nghiệm hết sức thú vị,,chúc 2 bạn luôn vui vẻ với hành trinh của 2 bạn nhé❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you so much! We’re happy you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
You should try the lemon tea and "cốm" on the sidewalk near the Cathedral. Also smell the milky flower. They're the signature of fall in Hanoi.
Thanks for the recommendations! 🥰
You should dip the Pho Cuon in the prepared fish sauce like you did for the Banh Cuon to enhance the taste and flavour of those rolls . That fish sauce makes all the difference for those dishes . The yellow stuff inside the Banh Ran balls is actually mung bean paste.
It took us a while to warm up to the idea of fish sauce, but now we enjoy it. 😅
The donuts with mung bean were so delicious! 😋
I think if you come to Vietnam, you should try hu tieu mi, this is an equally interesting dish
Thanks for the recommendation! We’ll add it to our list of foods to try. 🥰
I think that the yellow thing inside the deep fried round donut is crushed bean
We think you’re right! Is it mung bean?
@@mikeandashley It is ;)
I have been watching all of your videos in preparation for my upcoming trip! I love your content!
That's so great to hear! We hope you have a wonderful time in Vietnam. Safe travels! 🥰
