Did you end up replacing the whole power distribution block? I been having kinda the same problem seems the pump works when I bleed it but once on the road it doesn't "work" n I get water pump codes.. sorry English isn't my first language hope I made sense
@@anthonysaleen9732 yea it works now. I haven't replaced the power distribution block yet. I depined the connector and stuck it in the next slot. It was easier than rigging it up like he did.
Let logic prevail, good one...anything electronic needs power, first diagnose that power is being sent to the part, once that is sound, then go ahead with other checks...always check the power. 12 volt light up pen is very easy to check if power is getting to the device. Good one keep it up!
When checking for a blown fuse, do a continuity test or a diode test, not a voltage test. That fuse on the power distribution block is the fuse that sends the power to water pump, that's why it bleed for you.
I bet if you made videos of you working on cars with your monkey but never mention anything about it like the end of this video you would be a social media star.
Also make sure you are aware if the lin bus goes down the water pump will continuously run & kill the battery or blow that fuse. Just fyi. You were on the right track but the method of diagnoses could be shortened a lot.
Im throwing lack of communication with waterpump and valvetronic fail. both fuses are right next to each other in the sealed box under the hood. I had some water in my trunk and the battery got wet. I haven't even tried the bleeding process because I assume the waterpump isn't getting power. (gonna try it anyway ) the distribution box on battery makes perfect since. if that fuse has power, then it has to a be a short in the wire going to the fuses under the hood
When your fan does that then you know your pump is not running. That fan in high speed is trying to cool down as much as possible but it will also go in limp mode to protect itself.
@@royrodgers757 my fan is going crazy right now also gets loud thenj goes back down, loud then back down. non stop.,, but i did the water pump test on my 535 and it is still pumping but seams like its not pumping full force.. the coolant shoots out in the reservoir but its sorta semi light but i also dont know how hard to suppose to shoot. what do you think it could be? clogged? pump going bad? thermostat?
@@sarategiun2026 have you changed either pump or stat in your car yet? If not change them both out. If you did then there is also a terminal connection plate on top of the battery that goes bad but you would not hear the pump come on if this goes bad.

@@GagandeepSingh-vp8wg my problem was from the ECU it was fried from the high temp all fuses and electric it goes fine sometimes and sometimes not so it was ECU issue i also recommend to change the water pump original NOT any other brand nothing will work fine with it and it very expensive
there are reasons why the companies use more expensive bigger copper wires and fuses and water coolant ....but u could ignore them and wonder why ur car burns down and give the producer of ur car the guiltyness for it ...

it may be the voltage regulator on the alternator that's toast. Happened to me a while back, started getting IBS code, Water pump communication code and oil level sensor became inactive. After replacing the VR, everything was returned to normal. Not saying this is your issue, but worth looking into if you're still haivng issues, plus the OEM part cost $35.
Dumb question here: how did you know again that the water pump was malfunctioning? Just a check engine light and a series of related codes? Is it that obvious when / if the water pump isn’t working, in the short term, anyway?
When u turn ignition on, as in before pressing PUSH START button, you will see most lights on the dash light up and a humming noise with couple clicks. The humming noise IS the water pump.

Most likely a bad pump blew the fuse in this case. I've replaced many of these pumps and never had to repair the fuse block. This pump sounded weak when it kicked on.
My 2011 535 n55 is overheating and fan comes on more than normal when driving. I changed the oil filter housing gaskets. Ran the pump to bleed the system. It came on and circulating the water. But fan still comes on and overheats. Took to shop to have coolant flush and they said its the water pump, so they didnt flush coolant. But im like, you sure its not the oil thats mixed in coolant system? Can anyone help?
seems like fuses, shorted wires or replacing/ reseting water pump without completing bleeding procedure. seems like it's rarely the pump itself, although they say the life span is 100k. hope that helps
Out of curiosity mate, did you tried running an OBD scan on your car before getting to the root cause of this problem. If you did, was it reporting as 'Electric Water Pump Failure'?
I actually did run an OBD scan and got a water pump code. I just started troubleshooting from there out and eventually found a quick bandaid fix for the issue
@@ruigooal yup! I did manually the bleed procedure by using scanning tool several times. The electric water pump works fine but it will not works on bleed procedures. Something to do with board inside the electric pump or the program in the case.
Uh.... you don't see the FIRE HAZARD associated with putting a much smaller gauge wire in there? Fuses are sized to protect wiring. Given that it was already blown on the distribution block there is a good chance something is shorting and / or pulling too much current. When / if that happens again that small wire will turn red hot and potentially start a fire right on top of the battery.
Uh...you don’t see the INSURANCE CLAIM POTENTIAL associated with a BMW catching fire. Fortunately this method never caused a fire. One dollar water pump fix, you’re welcome.
@@HGProduction Sure, if that's what you want. Using the wrong wire is certainly a good way to potentially burn the car up. The insurance company may not be too excited about it though when that's the obvious cause. I know if you do your own unpermitted work on your home (like using the wrong wire) and it burns down that you certainly risk them denying the claim. Obviously, do what you want, but it's worth pointing out to anyone watching that this method has real risk. Thanks for sharing though and l love the color and the monkey. Pretty cool. :-)
Not at all, an insurance adjuster will just notate damage incurred as long as everything falls within the guidelines of the particular policy. Especially if the car is modified, 9/10 times it’s going to end up at wholesale auction if it’s declared a “total loss”
I just use filtered water from my fridge honestly I don't even need to do that. It's not really a big deal in America most tap water here is clean enough for a radiator mix.

Distilled water only in cooling system!
BMW specifies TAP water with antifreeze, not distilled. For the past 40 years.

It would be impossible to specify tap water when tap water is drastically different in different areas. You don’t want Flint MI water in your car.

Bmw cooling get very hot. So make sure its on 90 before you open it

The way to test your pump works with out the engine running is press the button that’s under to the right hand side above where you’re pump is. Simple

Fuses have a life expectancy. The fuse blocks that BMW used in the e90/e92 were prone to failing.
