So according to this, the Abyss Watchers gave themselves readily to the Fire in order to fight against the Dark, only to realize that their sacrifice was for nothing and Fire and Dark are both constantly eating away at each other, now they seek to save others (us) from sharing their fate, but instead of just giving up and letting the dark take over like Aldrich or the Twins, they intend to fight against the Fire AND the Dark, because they still believe in their oath, even if it's been revealed to be ultimately a lie. Bad. Ass. I thought I couldn't love this boss more.
I really like your interpretaion: the english test in the video isn't completely accurate and contains some contraddictions, but I believe you found the right way of understanding it.
Anyone else notice that bit where they said the Fire *AND* Dark were fading? It makes sense if you think about it. If the natural state of the world has a set time frame for each age, it would make sense that the continuous extention of the Age of Fire would've eaten into the Age of Dark's set time. And nowhere in the lore does it say that Dark is Eternal. It's just unstopable by beings of light. Maybe that's why the Abyss Watchers are so hellbent on trying to kill each other. They've given themselves to both a Fading light and a Withering dark, and just want out of life. However, since they're still warriors, they want to go down fighting, not by suicide.

But Gwyn committed the First Sin (Aldia - DSII) and created a new order where the flame is still kindled. The world continues to burn until only ash remains. (not dark). The first sin led that the age of dark never came. Maybe it has something to do with it

The music just gives such a powerful spirit into the fight, and its even better with how the lords of cinder are speaking to you through their themes, knowing then what they are telling us gives their fights that sense of understanding for their relation to the first flame. Undoubtedly one of the best fights in the series, just masterful.

When my first playthrough about a week ago i knew instantly that this boss gonna gave me a pretty hard times, not because how fight went but how the music was played throughout the fight. Never in my life i had so much respect toward my enemies and never in any games where i gave them a respectful bow at the end of this fight each times.
