I've been a fan of the manga since about 1992 and, although I had to buy these books individually (even though I have the original tankobon format editions), they are still utterly beautiful books and Kishiro's work has held up fantastically after nearly three decades...

Apparently the Last order omnibus is missing volumes 16-19 as these weren't included? And thanks for the showcase. I got my first boxset last year (Claymore) and having seen the criminally short anime of this, and Cameron's movie, I feel like there's so much more of this story to uncover. Think I'll be getting this deluxe set, and hopefully the other's after. It's also great the final volume included the reworked material too.

I'm not sure. I upgrades my soft covers to get this. I really like having them in oversized format. If you own the HCs and are just missing the supplemental book, get that book.

I got mine today. Top quality for sure, oversized is fantastic, glossy pages, lots of notes, color. I'm very happy with it and can't wait to re-read my fave manga. It's also f'n heavy so make sure you have strong shelves lol.
Thanks brother. Honestly as I completist I had to finish out Last Order. But, man there was a flashback arc that dragged and dragged for over 6 volumes.... but in the end it was not as good as Alita, but had some great moments at the end.

This covers just the original 9 volume Battle Angel Alita. The ones that Viz released with a new translation. This also has the sixth book that has new stories and Ashen Victor. It has the two endings. The original and the new ending that ties it into Last Order.
Hey guys. The Deluxe edition is currently out of stock - everywhere. What is the difference between this and the "Perfect Edition"? Hardcover/paperback only? It has 4 books. Are all the volumes BAA 1-9 inside? Theres absolutely no info about the Perfect Edition on youtube. Since this is obviously a hot item right now with the movie being fresh out, you guys might make a video o this topic. Would be interested to see which endings are inside and which year it was publushed etc...
Danijel Cesar the individual Hardcovers are still in print. I think it’s just the box set that is out of print. The perfect editions weren’t released in America. I think they were in Europe. The viz editions have the original ending in volume 9. This Deluxe Hardcover edition has the original ending and the one he did later on to tie the book in with Last Order (the follow up series). I’m sure Kodansha will reprint this amazing box set soon. Knowing the popularity is blowing up.

I got into the Alita manga fairly recently after seeing the movie. The Kindle editions of the original story. Then after binge-reading that, I started the omnibuses of Last Order. My mom has been looking into getting the hardcover Deluxe Editions of the manga.

I think for me it depends on what I read first. I read the original ending almost 20 years ago and that's the one that stuck with me. I plan to reread Last Order sometime, but that looooong vampire arc really took a toll on me when I used to review those books.

All nine volumes plus the extras from the time are included in this box set. This is the complete original story. The sequel Last Order and prequel Martian Chronicles do not have a box set.

Thinking of just buying these one at a time. Box Set is sold out everywhere and paying 170€ up front can get a little expensive. Paying 25€ once or twice a month is much easier for the wallet. Just my 2 cents. As nice as those litographs are, I'd rather just own the individual books rather than box set. I already owned the first 5 volumes, but stopped immediately once I heard there were Hardcovers coming. Ohhh man Magnus. I really need to sit down and do my top 20 manga of all time. I've written them down, but I feel like it's an old man's favorite manga. I will say it's all over the place like Maison Ikkoku, Berserk, 20th Century Boys, Oh My Goddess and Twin Spica to name a few.

Just ordered the box set I loved the movie and I also have the mini pop vinyl (from Walmart) 3 pop vinyls and another on the way and I have the making of the movie art book and doc ido journal and I have the movie itself in 4K I also bought the alita usb wristband

So glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie. What this box set collects (or you can get the individual Hardcovers) is the original Alita story, plus the side stories. It has two endings. The original ending (when the creator thought he was going to die and wanted to finish it and the ending that ties this series up to the next series Last Order). Last Order is a follow up to Alita, not regarded as good, but people still enjoyed it. Then we have the Martian Chronicles, which is both a prequel and sequel to the stories of Alita.

The oversize manga books are great. Much easier to make out all the details in the art. Something I thought was funny in BAA deluxe vol 5. There are interviews with Kishiro at the end. In one he mentions going to specialty import shops to buy Star Trek and Star Wars models. Just struck me funny there are western model shops in Japan. Mirror images of the anime figure/gundam model shops in the US.
Yoooo guys I’m getting into the manga but I don’t really understand. What I’ve gotten is that Battle Angel Alita is the first part, and that the ending was cut short so a sequel called Battle Angel Alita Last Order replaces the ending and continues the story. But what is Battle Angle Alita Mars Chronicles? I’ve understood it is the sequel to Last Order, but it appears to cover her childhood so does this mean that Mars Chronicles, chronologically takes place before Battle Angle Alita?? Or is it even further in the future taking place after Last order. I think the chronological order goes Mars Chronicles> Battle Angle Alita> Last Order Or am I wrong???

really want this, but I've decided a bit late to the game, I watched one of the last screenings here for Alita and loved it, amazon reader has it but the actual box set might take 2 months apparently? must be that out of stock since no one else has any stock to sell. first time dipping into Alita (or gunnm as some of the old - head fans would like to say) but of course, I've seen the Berserk Deluxe video too and that's a double dip for me, just seems worth it for the larger format and what they pack in for a reprint

I haven''t heard of the Spanish version coming out. I don't know who owns the rights to the Alita manga in Spanish, but if it's anything like Akira then I'm sure we will have one soon.
Smash Manga published the nine Alita volumes here in Mexico, and there's also a box set with all the volumes, but I have only seen the volumes sold separately. They are all paperback editions and each one have an aproximate price of 4 US dollars ($89 MX pesos).
So ive been meaning to get into Last Order, but im not 100% sure how to get the books. The omnibus seems great, but they look just so freaking thick and unwieldy. I kinda hope to see a deluxe series for those soon so I dont have to choose >.
I hope they do release them in Deluxe Hard Covers. Last Order was hit and miss for me. Lot's of parts I really liked and others that I thought were sooo boring.

And more than translators, letterers, editors, or anyone else that may have put any actual work or thought into their contribution.. It's the most pointless and disgusting plug I ever seen in something supposedly some special collectors exclusive thing. Not blaming the guy who wrote it, but some marketing tryhard obviously went full brain ejection in considering it was tasteful in the first place. Backside blurbs are as daft and pointless as ever, but at least more of an expected nuisance, especially given the timing of it all I guess. Didn't look like the other parts had anything like it. (though your flipping may have been a bit too efficient for the video framerates here) :) But if they do I certainly lost any interest in more parts nor box. Sorry for the rage-ranting, had to shake it off again. ;)

I'm still upset about the noise translations in Akira, I hate looking at that index. I miss the days when the sound effects were translated on the page. Hell, i'll even take the way Studio Proteus or Digital Manga do it.

I'm so pissed at how the critics and box office predictions sandbagged this stellar movie. Went to see it tonight in imax 3D and there was 5 other people in the theatre.
The movie was fantastic. It is now in my top five favorite movies.
I really hope it keeps growing by word of mouth and it tops the box office again next weekend.
Im convincing my friends here in the philippines to watch the movie for they believe its just another kiddy flick.

I have not red the manga or watched the series. Does this set includes the whole original story of BA Alita? Because when I searched on wikipedia, it says there are 9 volumes; are they all covered here?
All nine volumes plus the extras from the time are included in this box set. This is the complete original story. The sequel Last Order and prequel Martian Chronicles do not have a box set.

Thinking of just buying these one at a time. Box Set is sold out everywhere and paying 170€ up front can get a little expensive. Paying 25€ once or twice a month is much easier for the wallet.
Just my 2 cents. As nice as those litographs are, I'd rather just own the individual books rather than box set.

Ohhh man Magnus. I really need to sit down and do my top 20 manga of all time. I've written them down, but I feel like it's an old man's favorite manga. I will say it's all over the place like Maison Ikkoku, Berserk, 20th Century Boys, Oh My Goddess and Twin Spica to name a few.

Just ordered the box set I loved the movie and I also have the mini pop vinyl (from Walmart) 3 pop vinyls and another on the way and I have the making of the movie art book and doc ido journal and I have the movie itself in 4K I also bought the alita usb wristband

So glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie. What this box set collects (or you can get the individual Hardcovers) is the original Alita story, plus the side stories. It has two endings. The original ending (when the creator thought he was going to die and wanted to finish it and the ending that ties this series up to the next series Last Order). Last Order is a follow up to Alita, not regarded as good, but people still enjoyed it. Then we have the Martian Chronicles, which is both a prequel and sequel to the stories of Alita.

The oversize manga books are great. Much easier to make out all the details in the art. Something I thought was funny in BAA deluxe vol 5. There are interviews with Kishiro at the end. In one he mentions going to specialty import shops to buy Star Trek and Star Wars models. Just struck me funny there are western model shops in Japan. Mirror images of the anime figure/gundam model shops in the US.
I remember going over there and checking out American comic shops and the import price they would have on some of the Mcfarlane toys.

What I’ve gotten is that Battle Angel Alita is the first part, and that the ending was cut short so a sequel called Battle Angel Alita Last Order replaces the ending and continues the story. But what is Battle Angle Alita Mars Chronicles? I’ve understood it is the sequel to Last Order, but it appears to cover her childhood so does this mean that Mars Chronicles, chronologically takes place before Battle Angle Alita?? Or is it even further in the future taking place after Last order. I think the chronological order goes
Mars Chronicles> Battle Angle Alita> Last Order
Or am I wrong???

really want this, but I've decided a bit late to the game, I watched one of the last screenings here for Alita and loved it, amazon reader has it but the actual box set might take 2 months apparently?
must be that out of stock since no one else has any stock to sell. first time dipping into Alita (or gunnm as some of the old - head fans would like to say) but of course, I've seen the Berserk Deluxe video too and that's a double dip for me, just seems worth it for the larger format and what they pack in for a reprint

I haven''t heard of the Spanish version coming out. I don't know who owns the rights to the Alita manga in Spanish, but if it's anything like Akira then I'm sure we will have one soon.
Smash Manga published the nine Alita volumes here in Mexico, and there's also a box set with all the volumes, but I have only seen the volumes sold separately. They are all paperback editions and each one have an aproximate price of 4 US dollars ($89 MX pesos).
The box art is NOT from volume 1. alita doesn't get to the coastline until she meets her new BF. and he lives in Alhambra, CA.

The omnibus seems great, but they look just so freaking thick and unwieldy. I kinda hope to see a deluxe series for those soon so I dont have to choose >.
I hope they do release them in Deluxe Hard Covers. Last Order was hit and miss for me. Lot's of parts I really liked and others that I thought were sooo boring.
Is that eyesore "foreword" thing still in this or did they try to do the covers more uniformed for the box?

So like as prominently as the authors name. And more than translators, letterers, editors, or anyone else that may have put any actual work or thought into their contribution.. It's the most pointless and disgusting plug I ever seen in something supposedly some special collectors exclusive thing. Not blaming the guy who wrote it, but some marketing tryhard obviously went full brain ejection in considering it was tasteful in the first place. Backside blurbs are as daft and pointless as ever, but at least more of an expected nuisance, especially given the timing of it all I guess.
Didn't look like the other parts had anything like it. (though your flipping may have been a bit too efficient for the video framerates here) :)
But if they do I certainly lost any interest in more parts nor box.

I'm still upset about the noise translations in Akira, I hate looking at that index. I miss the days when the sound effects were translated on the page. Hell, i'll even take the way Studio Proteus or Digital Manga do it.
I want to buy the books but so many reports of damaged by post on arriving.

I'm so pissed at how the critics and box office predictions sandbagged this stellar movie. Went to see it tonight in imax 3D and there was 5 other people in the theatre.
That makes me so damn sad. I want to see sequels. The CG alone is worth going in. I hope it does well in China.
