How many people teach their main team HMs evenly so you can just go anywhere without having to put a team member in the PC to play the game? That's what I do XD
Me too. Pokemon games aren't hard enough to require a full moveset. 3 good moves and an HM are fine. Also, surf, fly, and to a lesser extent strength are staple attacks.

I honestly would say your hm mule doesn't even need to learn strength it's a powerful normal move that I see myself mostly using on physical pokemon for normal coverage
@@Squirtle_Squad_Supremacy And Gen 5 and beyond, strength boulders stay down, meaning you could just have strength on a poké until you had moved the boulders, then replace it with the 20 BP stronger return. So yeah, Strength, Fly, Waterfall and Surf are probably the ones you don't really need a mule for. Even whirlpool is a water trapping move, might be useful. The egregious ones definitely are Cut, Rock Smash, the non-damaging ones (Flash and Defog) and Dive (Waterfall but no flinch and takes two turns).
Well, I would classify Waterfall to be also one of those "Strong moves" along with Strength, but yeah it makes a lot more sense to have more coverage than having two water type moves, but still you can teach these moves to a battling Pokemon
@Skeeter Mania It's a word that YT's algorithm detects and blacklists, if you use it you're more at risk to get demonetized. Welcome to 2020, it's stupid.
@@ReventonSpeed yep, most of my favorite videos been banned unless i use my secondary google account to watch and both of my google account that i chose is year 2004 which is stupid
In gen 3 i personally used Sableye as an hm MULE with Flash, Cut, Rocksmash and Dig (which has an out-of-battle use too) because by being a ghost type, it has a small chance when switching it just to tank a move (to heal one strong pokemon) to resist it, if it is normal or fight type. PLUS, it is found very early on in the cave before the 2nd gym, and it can be found at Sky Pillar at a relatively high level... :))
I always teach Surf, Fly and Strength to my main team cause they are good moves. Waterfall is also better than Surf in some cases like with Swampert cause its a physical attacker. The only HM that i deem useless is Flash cause its literally just a permanent Sand Attack. As for Cut, it should be base 60 power at least.
Cut is useful for games without Return or Secret Power on Pokemon that can't learn Strength. In Gen 1 I always taught Beedrill Cut because in general I like all my Pokemon to have at least 1 general purpose offense Normal move. As for Flash I actually have used it in playthroughs against strong opponents to weaken them to avoid getting destroyed.
@@morrigankasa570 Cut would be fine if it wasn't normal type move. Grass or heck even poison or whatever. Almost every pokemon that can learn cut can just also learn body slam or return.
@@ruukinen Slash isn't as accurate as Cut and many Grass types in games without Return or Secret Power that can learn Cut that's pretty much the only damaging Normal move.
waterfall is good too but I will rather teach my starter surf(ig its not feraligetr) cuz i need to use it more frequently and also strength is non stab for attacking pokemons(normal types aint common attacker) u cant use it for coverage, and body slam/extreme speed simply outclasses it
Mew would actually be amazing as an HM mule if you didn't have to go to the move deleter to remove them. Just teach Mew whichever move you're about to use in the last slot, leaving 3 slots for battle moves, and you can even teach Mew Roost or some other TM to replace the HM.
Bibarel, you are so much more than that! You have Moody! After a few boosts, you can take down any Pokémon! If people just see you as a worthless pack mule, then they're wrong with a capital W.
Lighten up, you are so unique! You are one of the few pokemon who gets the ability moody. And you have a veeery rare ability in simple! Better yet you are the only simple pokemon to have 2 priority moves! One swords dance and sweep!
Me: Grabs Bibarel close for its safety, "Don't talk to me or my son ever again." Back in the day my Bibarel finished off Cynthia after hours of repeat tries.
@@Hmmm777 It wasn't, I used multiple pokemon for HMs, Diamond was my first game and, not knowing how stats worked and put Surf AND Waterfall on My Started Empoleon and didn't put them on Bibarel, it only ever had cut and I'd long since replaced it by the time I beat Cynthia.
I typically don't hold back for my hm slave with Strenght considering its a 80 power 100% accuracy, its decent enough to be used as a move in a playtrough
Mikey: Bibarel is the best hm mule. Me when 7: Used bibarel as the head 'mon of the team and taught my accidentally shiny empoleon all the HMS. Me now when I realise the rarity of shinies: I F*CKED UP.
In Gen 3 i always wanted to have "Mules" to cover every single HM even when those moves are nice, so tend to do this: Early: catch a Zigzagoon which can learn Cut, Surf and Rock Smash (I dont mind to wander around that tiny dark cave) (Also its ability Pickup is pretty nice for a Non-fighter Pokemon) After 5th badge: Go for a Tropius who can learn Cut, Fly, Strengh and Flash Late game: rather catch a Wailmer and evolve it or catch a Wailord on Route 140 which can learn Surf, Waterfall, Dive and Rock Smash, and substitute it for Zigzagoon
As a HM mule, in firered/leafgreen, I like Meowth, nature boosting speed, ability (Pickup for item) hm Cut, hm Flash, pay day (for cash), snore (lead sleeper).
Saving you time. Here's the cheat sheet: Gen I : Sandshrew (B/Y), Krabby (R) Gen I Remake: the nidos for early game, then same as above. Gen II: Paras (Early game), Psyduck (Mid/late) Gen II Remake: Psyduck. Gonna need 2nd for Cut. Gen III: Lombre (S/E), Nuzleaf, Psyduck (R) HM: Linoone ORAS: Crawdaunt (OR) . Lombre (AS) Gen IV: Bibarel. Gonna need 2nd HM Mule for Defog/Rock climb. Gen V: Watchog, Golduck. same for sequel. Gen VI: Bibarel
I'm upset you didn't pick Marill for gen 3. He appears on all 3 games and learns all water HMs, rock smash and strength. It can be obtained before the 3rd badge and if you ignored flash and cut, just like I did, you could finish the whole game with just a Marill and your main pokemon knowing fly and surf.
Bibarel: *cries* I am so worthless :( Me: Lighten up, you are so unique! You are one of the few pokemon who gets the ability moody. And you have a veeery rare ability in simple! Better yet you are the only simple pokemon to have 2 priority moves! One swords dance and sweep!
My HM Slave for Hoenn games has always been Linoone. They always go to the league with me anyway so may as well give them the moves I need for things. 😁 Rest of the HMs are covered by either Pelipper, or Clampearl depending on if I used Swellow instead of Pelipper to learn Fly.
In firered and leafgreen There are two hm mules Ch'ding the farfetch'd for cut and fly You can catch a spearow on route 5(route before mt.moon) and trade it for a farfetch'd in vermillion And lapras that you get in silph co. For surf, strength, rocksmash and waterfall You obtain both of these before their respective HMs are nessacary
Michael: HM Muel is a more proper and less offensive term for Pokémon that exist solely for using HMs. Me: so your basically calling them a****. Michael: Inhales☝️😯 Pauses☝️😐
As a kid I got through Rock tunnel WITHOUT Flash 'cause I didn't even know about it at the time. When I finally found out, I felt like the king of the world XD

Good hp ok defence, sp.defence ,speed, sp.attack and attack. It would learn all hms minus flash (lino one cares), cut and whirlpool (who likes the linoon pun)
Even though Bibarel was my HM Mule he was also one of my main team battlers because of Bibarel's typing it can actually use the HMs in battle effectively! He achieved victories and pulled his weight against Roark, Fantina, Byron, Candice, Bertha, Flint and even Cynthia!
lmao I used nothing but normal types like bibarel against fantina but I rigged them with element type moves so she could barely land hits and I could attack at leisure. I honestly enjoy occasionally trolling the NPCs in battle XD

Strength is such a decently strong move that I usually don't mind having it around either, which means Cut is the only problem in most games.
Same
If return didn't exist... strength would be a nice move
I always used strength for my Snorlax.
Same as rock climb. With so many HM's and it being a decent move I see no problem having it on a main mon for coverage.
I remember giving Strength to some of the team members on my team, like my Venusaur in X, My Quagsire in Silver and my Stoutland in Black 2
I honestly would say your hm mule doesn't even need to learn strength it's a powerful normal move that I see myself mostly using on physical pokemon for normal coverage
Yeah I used it on my bibarel in bdsp and it was a good move
True, especially in Gen 4 and behind since Return isn't an infinitely usable TM, which otherwise would be better.
Stinking poliwrath on Hala’s elite four team in Moon spammed Waterfall and nearly cost me the match
For physical water types waterfall is definitely useful, but most water types are special so that probably why he didn’t mention it

Idk
In gen 3 i personally used Sableye as an hm MULE with Flash, Cut, Rocksmash and Dig (which has an out-of-battle use too) because by being a ghost type, it has a small chance when switching it just to tank a move (to heal one strong pokemon) to resist it, if it is normal or fight type. PLUS, it is found very early on in the cave before the 2nd gym, and it can be found at Sky Pillar at a relatively high level... :))
I love how he says "To make the Snorlax move" instead of "to wake it up and let it attack and partly squish your team
Bibarel-He swim the water, he cut tree, but most importantly, he break the rock with his long beaver teeth.
no he do it with his metal claw
Richraichu you mean ROCK SMASH
@@ruukinen but in generations that don't have either of those 2 options Cut as Normal is fine. A general purpose damaging Normal move is great.
@@morrigankasa570 It's not though since anyone who can learn cut also usually has better level up moves than cut. Slash for example.
@@ruukinen Slash isn't as accurate as Cut and many Grass types in games without Return or Secret Power that can learn Cut that's pretty much the only damaging Normal move.
