Changing out control valve on a 25 ton countrywide tractor supply log splitter 25 ton log splitter Countrywide log splitter Tractor supply log splitter
Thanks for the video. I broke my valve and am going to have to change it out, and I appreciate you sharing your swap out. I feel better about it now and know more about what to expect. Good job!
My buddy and I have a 30 ton County Line, must be like 10 years old and it has been A BEAST. We started experiencing some creep of the hydraulic arm, then the control valve started dripping, now the valve won’t return the hydraulic arm all the way “open”, I guess you’d call it. So my keen powers of deduction are telling me its time for a new control valve. Thanks for the walk-through on your replacement, its always helpful just to see something done and hear some of the tips and things to watch for. Kudos to you sir, thanks for taking the time to post your replacement. gotta love youtube!
We did our replacement yesterday and I’d like to add some obeservations. First, we got the splitter from Tractor Supply but its a Huskee not a Country Line, made by Speeco. Found the control valve, ebay had some, Amazon had them, cost was $200 with free shipping. Arrived in a couple of days. We had a heck of a time of a time getting the fixtures off. There had to be some kind of thread locker t used. We needed a pipe wrench, a vise, and a maul to get 3 of the fixtures off, one just would not turn. Called a local frarmer who had previously offered to torch something apart for me - a 30 minute drive and 10 seconds of heat applied to the valve and the fourth fixture came off nice and easy. Cleaned and taped the threads and reassembled. Tested it, no leaks. Ran it for 3 hours today, worked like a champ. Not mechanics either we’re computer guys, do yourself and your fingers a favor and get a Bernzomatic torch, Home Depot $32. Got mine this morning. The fixture on the metal pipe is a little tricky, there’s a a compressing ring kind of a thing the nut won’t go over without encouragement. It was mentioned in the video it had to be tapped on, we used a smaller wrench to sit behind the nut for the tapping part. Appreciate your effort posting the video, it was awesome help.
I’m glad you found it useful, I am not a mechanic either and work in the office all day, but it is good to get out and work on things, thanks for watching
Thanks. I'm having the exact same problem with that same splitter. Unfortunately, mine is out of warranty. I have not been able to find a replacement value.
I was able to replace my control valve and now it works great again. Apparently, there is no bleeding of the hydraulic system required. I just added fluid and cycled the piston down and up a few times. It’s splitting logs again and the valve stops at the top like it should. The part can be ordered from Tractor Supply. The description of the part is “spool valve open center 25 GPM”. Customer service at YTL International, the distributor, told me the photo of the product is inaccurate. So, order this part, even though it looks like it won’t fit. The replacement was straightforward, but make sure you have a lot of leverage or muscles to break the fittings free. Also, I had to use a bench vise to clamp the valve down to be able to unscrew the pipe fittings. But it was worth the effort because a hydraulic mechanic quoted me $140/hr plus parts. DIY man!
Hey Murf man just got one of these motor is locked up but for 50.00 don't see how I could go wrong. How ever no holes in the case .But a new 14 hp on Ebay Kohlar 249.00.
I had the same problem with my 40 ton countryline splitter and TSC sent me a new valve without any questions (6 months of use). Not sure who makes the control valve, but the internal components are junk and easily corrode. My old valve looked like it was immersed in saltwater for 6 months. I hope the new valve lasts longer but it’s obvious to me why TSC replaces these valves without question.
you never use teflon tape on hydraulic fittings , they are flared and that is all you need , its ok to put on the pipe thread fitting where it screws into the control block but never on the flare fittings
Buy one that an adjustment, there’s basically a relief valve in this system that once the cylinder dead heads it builds enough pressure to push in the spring and release the lever, the adjustable style valves this would be a 2min fix, back off a jam nut and adjust the spring tension.
I called the 800 number that was on the log splitter for customer service and they sent it to me Free of charge there’s a three year warranty on all the parts
I do not have part number but if you call the 800 number that’s listed on the Countryline log splitter , and it’s within three years old they should send you a new one
Same model is a Tool Tuff Direct part on Amazon. It is called a Reverse Port Configuration Log Splitter Valve. $115 bucks. Replace and install just like he did in Video.

The big tip is using Teflon tape and have something ready to plug that top hole so hydraulic fluid does not run out, good luck

Side note for ya the fill cap for the hydrauluc fluid is already ported for a breather so loosening it won't chnage the pressure..
Good to know, thanks
And thanks for watching
nice work, please what is your pump number size and cylinder ton? am a novice
It’s a 25 ton and when I get back out to the shop I’ll see if I have a part number
@@MurphyMower Thanks, I'll be waiting. I want to built my own and I find it difficult to know the cylinder size and Motor size.
Thank you Sir! You have solved my problem.
😀 thanks for watching
Thanks. I'm having the exact same problem with that same splitter. Unfortunately, mine is out of warranty. I have not been able to find a replacement value.
I would call the 800 number that is on the splitter. Tell them the problem you’re having and ask them for the part number.
Maybe that’ll work

I would buy that all day long for $50, you got a good deal

And I’m pretty sure that is the same valve that goes on a lot of different machines just by looking at it

Yup . Run the risk of tape pieces making its way into the hydraulic system which is not good .

I researched and messed with it quite a bit off camera but I had no luck
Tried to adjust mine as well with no luck. 2 years old working fine then same thing wouldn't return.
Where did you find the replacement valve ?
I called the 800 number that was on the log splitter for customer service and they sent it to me
Free of charge there’s a three year warranty on all the parts
hello, i have the same problem, tractor suppy was no help, do you have a part number i can get from you?

@@MurphyMowerok, thank you so very much
Let me know how it goes😃
@@MurphyMower i will , thank you
Do you have the part number for that control valve?
i will look on it- i just called countryline and they sent me one

Sorry, but that was basically useless information.
