I love this Bible so much that I was blessed with the blue & black goatskin editions along with the cherry red calfskin edition. It took me over two years to settle on a main translation and now I have this edition for my main layout. I’m very familiar with the Concord KJV and I got so use to the layout I could find certain texts just by the layout. Now I plan on sticking with the Topaz layout to have that same experience in my Bible study and reading again. God bless.

Randy, I listened again to your review after I just bought a Topaz and I missed it the first time around. BOB ROSS! Now, he was a "wild" dude!!! Wild in the laid back sense. That was great...

Great review! I love how you go section by section through the Bible, with nice detail and close-ups of the text. Fantastic overview!
The Topaz seems like a neat medium-size Bible, with less clutter than a Turquoise for improved readability, and also easier to read than a Concord or Pitt-Minion, especially for not-so-young eyes, if not quite so easy-to-carry.
(Note: Edited after seeing your comparison with the Cambridge Turquoise, and realizing the Topaz is nearly the same size, but with a cleaner, more modern layout, similar to the Schuyler Quentel in not having the center column references dividing the text.)

I love my ESV Topaz! Not many verse-by-verse ESV's on premium bible paper out there. TH-cam just cannot capture how nice it is. Seriously good. I also like the red chapter and verse numbers, makes working with references a joy (they aren't microscopic which also helps). I do prefer red letter text! All up is it perfect, probably not, but certainly the best verse-by-verse ESV. I have a Schuyler PSQ (small) which uses the same paper, also very nice but it's paragraph format, good for reading, not for jumping about. Both are good.
As for comments about KJV and NKJV, yes this would be a nice bible in any translation but you guys already have nice choices (i.e. you don't have to pay a premium, it's optional for you) but for ESV fans the Topaz should seriously be considered.
Thanks for the review Randy, well done.

How do they present OT quotes in the NT? I had a verse-by-verse ESV by crossway that only used quotations, and coming from decades of NASB use, it was really hard to get comfortable with. I like a clear delineation in the type face for OT quotes.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide

You should check out the blue one---the most beautiful of this line in my opinion. The blue art gilt really complements the red accents (chapter numbers etc). They are definitely expensive, but I want to get one. And by the way, I think the maps are a modernization of the old Scofield maps. Very beautiful as well.

I just got this (er, black calfskin) in the mail today. I've read Isaiah 42 and Hosea 2. This Bible is everything Crossway's two-column verse-by-verse should be, but isn't because it's text goes into the gutter.
