IFS has been life changing for me. The ability to have conversations with my parts and to be able to view the different perspectives has been eye opening. I have a part who wanted to write after he became unburdened, all I can say is I am impressed. I'm amazed at how aware my parts are and how much guidance they have. The best part is when we are having a conversation one part will say lets think about that more.
"Let's think about that more" - love it. Our parts have so much to contribute, and YOU'RE listening! Thanks for taking the time to tell me how eye-opening writing with your parts is for you🙏🏽
LOVE THISSSS! I listened to the podcast with Tammy and just hearing you say “the goal isn’t to get into Self” was like THANK YOU. I’ve struggled with this for so long now and listening to that podcast has shifted me back to feeling like I can connect with myself and my parts. Thank you!
Oh @christinasyales4456, it's music to my ears to hear what a difference this made for you. Yes, let's collectively breathe out and release that expectation of being in Self!
Hmmm. I struggled with this idea. Don't get me wrong. I've been doing IFS for over 4 years and quite a few of my IFS sessions are self led: meaning I do the work because I am also an IFS trained practitioner, so I know the steps and the pitfalls to look out for. I love how fun and open Lucille is. She is super playful and obviously very good at what she does. The challenge of getting and staying in self during the back and forth is natural. I recommend feeling into your body. If there are any tight areas relax them. I use the trick of feeling my feet on the floor or my butt in the chair. It allows me to clear my mind, where I often find my helper parts hiding out (being so helpful and loving). I agree that a self led session looks different, so be compassionate (one of the C words that lights the way to the "authentic self") with yourself. I did really like the container idea, its beautiful and helpful, yet I can only share my own personal experiences, as Lucille's viewpoint is beautifully presented, I struggle at times due to what we call blending. It's when we are so "blended" with our parts that we can't get the space we need to move into a state of "authentic self". A great trick I use with my self led sessions or when I teach my Clients how to do self led IFS is to ask the part of me that is blended with me to give me 5% space, and see how it responds. If it won't then I know that that part is needing some love and attention, and I will shift my focus from what I thought was my target part, toward the blended part. If it will then I know that I have a chance to move beyond our blended state, and have the chance to focus on my target part. Thanks Lucille for being so playful and fun. I love IFS as well and love the idea of getting it out to as many people as possible. IFS for the People!!!!!
I am so happy you uploaded this! So much has happened to my life since my last Master Mind with you but I still carry everything I got our of it. Befriending my parts is the greatest revelation IFS showed me and you helped me understand what that truly meant. - Jaycel
Hi Lucille, love your first video, your style and colors, also its not overhelming, just two advices and small steps, simply explained. Keep up with great work, this was really helpful and enjoyable to watch. I am looking forward to your next videos about solo IFS and its overlaping with art therapy and shadow work sprinkled with shamanic tips. Send you lot of love!
Extremely helpful. This video combined with Part 1 of Myths busted is enabling me to return to my own self led practise. I'm looking forward to my own containment - intention setting practices!!!! Thank you Lucille! Blessings ❤🙏
You are on your way! I'm honored this has helped your self-healing - thank you for taking the time to tell me. Part 2 of Myths Busting will be coming in the next week or two 🙌🏾 Subscribe if you want to be notified!
Hi, Im studying life coaching and learning about IFS. Im loving it. Did you do all 3 levels of ifs study? Did you find all 3 levels necessary? Im feeling like its going to take a lot of time and moneyo get through all the learning I would love to have...lol.
Omg! I ❤❤❤ this so much! When I started IFS on my own I did have a lot of success outside of my therapy sessions for a few weeks and even stopped seeing my therapist because of it...but then...it started getting really difficult. And the more I learned about ifs the harder it got. I can't even do it anymore 😔 this is exactly what I needed to stumble upon! Also...what is splitting? Thank you! You are a beautiful human!

Thank you Lucille. This video is wonderfully practical and empathetic to the difficulties of doing IFS on one’s own ❤ I’m grateful you are sharing your wisdom 🙏
If Lucille would only tell me about her very broken in brown shoes! They look like shoes that I went to NY to get in 1967. I have not found a way to email her. Come in, Lucille?
Thank you ❤ I was first introduced to you via a podcast with “the one inside” on Dec22-22. I subscribed to your mailing list, got the PDF and the 60min Audio. I was so excited….But…I have a strong part that is really resisting to jump in Solo!!! 😅 So thanks for this TH-cam!! Ready to try! Let’s see. 😊
Hi Michael, I get it! Sometimes the resisting parts have a very good reason - do you have a sense of what it's afraid will happen if you jump into solo IFS? I'll be offering a free workshop soon that might help - stay tuned to my email postcards. Lovely to know you're on my mailing list!
Ooh, was just talking on my podcast about resourcing something bigger than us (ancestors, nature, etc) to do this parts work! Love that you mentioned that, thank you. ❤
Great video, Lucille! This popped up on my feed and just had to check out your amazing work. Hope you're doing well, sending you lots of gratitude and support ☺
Thanks Lucille. Doing IFS on yourself is definitely the key to using it as a healing tool and to becoming self lead. I and my wife have been doing IFS for couples therapy - IFIO (Intimacy from the inside out) with a therapist for about 10 months now, on a weekly basis, and some of my thinking parts have been desperate to speed up the process, unsuccessfully, until recently when I have made some breakthroughs through understanding how to apply IFS to yourself. This began with the realisation that healing is an inner journey where thoughts and feelings either from within or in response to interactions with others have to be turned inwards, reflected upon and owned totally, understanding that IFS is an inner journey towards becoming self lead, which is a process of working towards self reliance and self resilience, essentially I think by your Self becoming your own attachment figure. Understanding this concept is one thing but applying it universally in response to every relationship interaction is far more challenging. Arriving at this point of understanding was for me, arriving at a new mindset, where I remind myself often that all thoughts (including criticism of self or others) and feelings whatever they are in response to, need to be turned inward. This realisation was initiated from our therapist saying to us that we need to do this process of turning everything inward and that if any parts are triggered that you need to let your partner know that you need a moment, on your own, to calm down, ... And, self reflect. This is not easy in the moment as you can imagine, but I have found these confrontations can best be avoided by continually reminding yourself that 'my thoughts and feelings are my responsibility'. The other thing that happened is that I came across Dick Schwartz's book "You are the one you've been looking for" in which he says "Thus, this ability to care for yourself emotionally permits the intimacy you seek because you have the courage to allow your partner to come close or get distant without overreacting." ..and "If you and your partner can take what I call a U-turn (you-turn) in your focus and begin to relate differently inside yourselves, you will each find that courageous love becomes a spontaneous way of life rather than something you must strive to achieve. You will also find that your partner doesn’t have to take care of you because there is so much support you can get from yourself." The breakthroughs I've made in recent times have actually come early in the morning when I've woken up feeling very anxious and been in a half asleep state and been aware enough to focus on the anxious part and have compassion and understanding for it but most importantly take responsibility for that feeling and not direct my feelings at the thing that has caused the anxiety. I've been able to say positive things to parts and avoid critical thoughts. This has enabled me to calm down, although not necessarily fully connect with that part but it feels like the beginning of progress as I'm feeling a lot calmer and more able to stay focused without intrusive thoughts coming in or my mind wondering. I've also found journaling the experience after I've had contact with a part very helpful as it often goes beyond where I got to with my part at the time, which means I'm getting more of an insight into the cause of the anxiety and a positive way to resolve it. Would be interested to hear how you interact with your parts in your next video. Sorry to waffle on (critical part 😕😊) for so long, hope it's been useful. Steve
Great to hear how you're exploring IFS in such depth, Steve. Re. how I interact with my parts: Do you mean like a personal glimpse into my system? Or like a modeling of how I do solo IFS?
@@healwithlucille I think I mean modelling of how you do solo IFS although if there were examples that you thought you could share then I think that would be really helpful.
