    I remember when crysis was the ultimate benchmark for high end pc’s. Now it’s used as a benchmark on a handheld. Wild times we live in.

    I’m using 720p (RSR) to 1080p on ROG Ally and playing Dark Souls: Remastered. It’s performing amazing at 15w performance mode.

    Thank You! Eye opener video! Got ROG Ally and I found after Your video one upgrade - drastic change in RSR Sharpness over AMD setting can get amazing results in games between 20 and 60 points - in some games You can make it as sharp as native 1080p... Wreckfest, RE4/Village. Give a video comparing with 30 and 75 sharpness...
    I played Quarry 720pRSR1080p max settings - better quality than lol PS5/Series X with sharpness on 75 and damn it looked native.
    imagine ROG is RDNA3.0 so damn we will get NATIVE next generation RSR shortly.
    I play at 8GB VRAM setting as I set virtual RAM to 32GB.

    RSR for me has done so much good SF6, Path of Exile, they look amazing and you have the good fps of 720p
    For me its either RSR if the game allows and there is no FSR 2.0 + or FSR 2.0 & RIS on 1080p. So huge difference on RE4 remake

      I'm using a program called MSI Afterburner. I spent a lot of time so it looks like it's part of the Armoury Crate one, but it's actually a separate window underneath. If you search MSI Afterburner FPS overlay, you'll find a lot of tutorials. I'd find one you like, then just copy how they do it. Lot's of ways to set it up how you like it :)

    RSR for me just makes sense on 720P or 900P

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think RSR is also pretty good. Especially at 900p, I've noticed it does look more "natural". And I see why people use it. You can't go wrong with either and it's definitely more personal preference. When using RSR, if you play games that are bordered full screen, you'll want to adjust the desktop resolution to 1600x900 so you can use RSR in those games like Diablo 4.

    couldnt help but notice the RDR2 runs were all being ran at different wattages... 25, 18, and 15 respectively. May account for your stutters.

  • @Ironwokdude
    @Ironwokdude ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Honestly, I rather run my games in native 1080p unless frame rate is an issue. Even it means to sacrifice some settings to a medium or low on some things like global illumination etc. Things just look better than RSR in majority of the games. Take Street fighter for example. I maxed out on render resolution to 5 and lowered some settings like lightings to normal instead of high and still able to run the game near 60fps with everything on.

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's how I run them as well. RSR is a headache. Have you tried RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening)? It's awesome and works at 1080p. I'm planning to do a guide on it to showcase the differences sometime soon.

    Would be curious to see 720p rsr vs 720p rsi. Have you compared the 2 side by side? If so which do you think looks better between the 2. I am currently using 720p with rsi enabled but may try 720p with rsr as these results look pretty good. Do you recommend rsr over rsi?

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been using RIS because I usually run 1080p in most games. RSR only works at 720p. I have not directly compared them yet, but that is something I'm interested in comparing in the near future. At 720p I'd say RSR will beat RIS. However, I need to run RIS tests which I haven't done yet :)

    • @filt3rless

      RSR takes 720p and upscales it to 1080p. However you're still going to loose finer details than you would get at 1080p. I actually prefer RIS over RSR. I have a guide on RIS here: th-cam.com/video/at6RXXjpfB4/w-d-xo.html

    what would be the difference between 720p rsr vs 900p ? Wouldn't 720p rsr get more frames than 900p, for practically the same visual result?

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the game. Something like Starfield doesn't like RSR and has a huge performance hit. So FSR in that game works better at 900p. I mostly run 900p with RIS so I don't get a performance hit. You can do 720p RSR, but the performance results will vary from game to game. On RIS it's consistent since there is no performance hit.

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks great on the Ally display itself. I've recently been using 900p with RSR (Radeon Super Resolution) and it looks awesome. I have a video about 900p here: th-cam.com/video/HuMr8_BXSVA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SCT0vI8ClPVniQcS
      The main reason for 900p with RSR (or even RIS) is saving battery. And 900p is a nice middle ground where you can keep visual quality, but still run a lot of stuff at 17 watts or so.

    • @filt3rless

      VSR scales the image past the native resolution, ex: 1440p on the 1080p display. I definitely don't recommend using that. There can be some clarity benefits, but you'd want to use it on a much higher end system, and even then I've never liked nor used it. Native resolution with RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) works great.
