When i change the memory to 8 and make restart blue screen of death always appear 4tb ssd 1 tb sd card Can you advise Alle updated and bios updated to the newest
Yikes, I haven't experienced that because I haven't upgraded my internal SSD yet. Do you still have the original SSD that came with the device and try to swap out to see if you get the same blue screen result when you change the memory? Worst case scenario, you'll have to do a full restore. I hope that isn't the case. We all know how long it takes to set up the device. Tech woes.
Hi I didn’t get my ally x yet, however I heard that they is an option which is auto, if it true, is it better than choosing a specific number? Thanks in advance
I believe when its set to auto it will set whats more optimal for said game what will work best for performance 8gb is good enough but high demanding games its best to set more than to prevent stuttering but I have it set to auto to adjust everything for me without going back and fourth
Yes, there is an option where you can manually change the power setting--it's known as the TDP. You can increase the power based on your use. For more intense games, you want 25w on battery and 30w if plugged in. For general web browsing and youtube, I just use the silent mode.
A friend of mine uses 8gb VRam setting and has no problems. Perhaps, trial and error, and see which setting is the most stable and gives the better gaming performance. Cheers!
Hey bro, I appreciate that. I think the rule of thumb is that whatever your physical ram is on your system, increasing your VRAM to half should be fine. Otherwise, if you exceed it, you may start getting some negative and glitchy performance issues. This works for me. The OG Ally (white) has 16gb ram, so increasing the Vram from 4gb (default) to 8gb can help. The newer ROG Ally X has 24gb ram, so that's why I upped my Vram to 12gb. It improved textures and FPS on demanding games like Call of Duty.
You can use a USB-A female to USB-C adapter for a direct connection to the Rog Ally X. I use an iVanky Dock that has several USB slots on the back to connect a controller to it. I mainly use an Xbox controller. Let me know what you figure out.
Do you have the OG ROG Ally - white version? If you have the ROG Ally X (black) and only see 8gb of Vram, check my video again to make sure you have the latest updates in Amoury Crate. Once all the updates are complete, check to see if you have access to increasing the Vram.
Did it yesterday and was able to adjust the vram. I thought with the initial set up and updates it was done. It's been great now that it's updated. Thanks for the help.
I also have it set to 12gb seems like the sweet spot.
I agree! It's a game changer on the device.
Same here ! It really helps in those games that may stutter at 8gb
Hey dude i knowticed you play teardown, can you tell me what specs you run it at? Its slow for my ally x ):
Pretty sure its set to auto or 8 by default on X. Btw 10 out performed 12 for me. Strange but true.
Oh wow, that's great. I'll have to try that and see if I notice it on my end as well.
Why your GPU can allocate more than 8GB? I want to allocate 12GB but I can't. It's only shows 1~8GB.
update your ally x
@@kewa_design thx,I got it.

I have the ally x.
Might need to update. Thanks for the info
@@villaenrique Yes, once you update, the option should be available. Congrats and hope you are enjoying the Ally X.

Such a tiny screen
It really isnt small same size basically as the deck
It’s 7” and this is a handheld not a laptop, by handheld standards, this is a decent size
7 or 8 inch screens seem to be the norm. Good thing is, you can output to a larger screen via USB-C to HDMI / USB-C
