@@adrianortiz5147 free games? No. It's a windows 11 powered machine so you need steam , Xbox app , epic games etc to play games. Performance is very very good but don't go in with the idea you will be playing 4k ultra titles at 60fps

The virtual surround sound blows me away, insane how a sound system directly in front of you can make it sound like the sound sound like it is coming from your left, right or behind

You actually can turn off Dolby ONLY for headphones. It's done in the windows sound output settings. When you plug in a headphone, windows sound output settings will show 'headphones' and in there, there are two fields you can set to disabled which will only affect the headphone output (leaving speaker effects (dolby) intact) : Audio Enhancements & Spatial Audio. If you disable those, you'll be good to go whenever you plug in headphones.

Another quick tip for you guys. By default, the Display resolution scaling is set to 150%, it makes your Windows fonts and elements, as well as application, a bit larger so it's usable on a small screen, but if you find things to still be too small, try changing your resolution scale to 175%. It's in your display settings. I found the 175% to be much more pleasant to use, for me.

Awesome video! Does the battery life make this thing pretty much unplayable though? Between that and the SD card issues and what I hear of stick, dead zones, I might be looking into the steam deck.
Great video thank you for all the tips! I just picked mine up today since best buy had a sale on them. I would strongly advise anyone looking to purchase one to double check the serial number prior to purchasing and make sure it starts with R9 or a higher number. Best Buy tried to give me an older model R5 which still had possible SD card port overheating issues. But since I did my research I asked if they had a newer unit in stock with a R9 serial number which they did. Always do your research when buying new tech gadgets!

In cyberpunk I was able to get better frames using rsr and putting the game resolution at 720p. Rsr upscales to 1080p and the frame boost over FSR is alot and is very noticeable. Try it out with various games it's hit or miss whether for or rsr is better but don't cancel it completely. Thanks for your video very informative!

One thing.
As a music nut, I will always say that audio is completely personal, no one will hear the same way you do. While Dolby is amazing from 5.1 ch audio presets, always tweak EQ to your own preference and play around with the EQ until you find your own balance. Also no one speaker is the same so you might find your Headsets audio is deeper than your other Headset or portable speaker.

When I play MW3 on the Ally, does the Dolby need to be open in the background in order to work with my arctis nova pro ?
I’m asking cause when I start MW3 it recommends to close everything else that’s running in the background
My headset used to be so amazing for footsteps on the Xbox and now on the Ally it’s just average so I guess I’m doing something wrong (just got the Ally 3 days ago)
Download the steel series gg app and run sonar. I have the nova pros too. Love them.

Like do you simply connect the headset to the Ally via Bluetooth without using the station that comes with it?
Cause when I try to do it via Bluetooth somehow it doesn’t connect properly with the app
If I use the station then it takes the only plug that I need for the battery 😅
And do you run the app in the background (I would guess it needs to be open in the background)

Which ones? The white and blue ones or the ones I mentioned that was on clearance? The white and blue ones sound great, but I have connection issues with them sometimes and that’s a big deal breaker for me since I use these for work. The wired headphones is one of the best things I ever bought for $400. I have links in the description for them

Regular windows wallpaper. Tap and hold on the Home Screen, then tap on personalize. It think you can load ROG specific wallpapers in Armoury Crate 2

I havnt updated any windows at all, i just turned it on and updated armoury creat then pow i was playing games, took 20 mins for the full set up 😂 one day ill update it one at a time
Lol. You can set it to update at like 2 am once it’s plugged in. There’s some important AMD updates they flow through windows update. But if everything is running fine, then nothing to worry about

I found a sweet spot for me. 720p with AMD RSR enabled. It allows me to play most games in Med-Ultra graphics with well 70-100fps.
I’ve been doing that too. I found myself getting used to 720p. I think until the next generation of this AMD APU comes out, 720p is the sweet spot
So that's how the pop up should look for Xbox game pass. For some reason, I don't have 1 and I don't know how to contact Asus about it. Pre ordered mine btw.

In today’s society no one’s entertain, or grateful for the little things they have. Just the fact that you can play almost any game even if it’s at 30 FPS you can play at 120 FPS @ 1080p. 😅

great tips, i wasnt aware of dolby updates! So just to be sure I didn't miss anything, there are 5 things to check for updates:
1. Windows Update
2. Armory Crate Update
3. AMD Software Update
4. MyASUS Update
5. Dolby Access Update
Did I miss anything else?
Those are the main ones. I mentioned in the video, but be careful with firmware updates. I’ve had asus tank the performance of one of my laptops and it took over a month for a new firmware to fix it
Great video, but you lost me a v-sync. How the heck do i get to this setting?
It’s in the game settings. If you play Resident Evil 4, you find V-Sync Setting in the ingame-settings
Bios 3.19 has a slight issue where it reduces performance at low twp settings

Astro a40 does a great job if you don't want to dish out 400. I don't even have to put max volume

Asus says to keep the rsr feature on because it works even if the game doesn’t have fsr comparability
I find it looks sharper without it on. So I’ve been keeping it off. Probably better battery and more frames with it on though.
Please help just got Rog Ally yesterday and got nothing but trouble I can't get any games to work right Xbox games keep crashing every single time I open it and steam game can't get the controller to work in games keep thinking I'm using mouse and keyboard so I can't do anything with the build in contoller in games

That’s a good question I’ll look for a good one out there and will include in a near future video which will tackle accessories. I want to test a few to make sure they last a decent amount of time and is able to give consistent power to the ally before recommending.

hey man i cant decide whether to buy the ally or not, i've seen reviews which says that asus might give up on the ally and if there ever is a rog ally 2, they are going to stop updating the ally 1, do you think its worth it?
Yeah. I saw that review too. Asus does a good job for better or worse on updating their products. I've been using ROG laptops for 3 years at this point, and they do a good job with support. I say for better or worse, because sometimes they push out updates that cases new bugs or breaks things...but they usually patch it as well. Also, most of the support you'll need comes from AMD and Windows, and there's never a shortage of updates on those.
I'm not sure what menu you went into to turn off the Vertical Sync!

Do you know how to use your Xbox controller on Call of Duty? It is synced (on windows) but it does nothing (in game) (yet..)
To be honest I haven’t figured it out yet. I’ve been trying with the raikiri pro. I think it’s only reading the built in controller. It may need to be disabled. I gotta spend some time figuring that out.
There is a button in the command center to disable the Ally controller so you can use external controllers.

Trackpad is a must on handheld devices with desktop mode... Sad the ROG Ally didn't have one.

The sticks wouldn't be so bad to use on the Ally if there wasn't a slight deadzone. I deal with it, I like it. but I know a track pad would be better

The most annoying thing is all the time I spend remapping games, especially older ones where the gamepad isnt native (which im finding to be very frequent)
Dealing with the same crap downloaded FF7 and Dragon Age 2 and can’t get past the opening screen because its not picking up the internal game pad.

You can make a generic layout to apply to all similar games in fps third person or racing. This has been the best shortcut that I have found to the remapping nightmare the rog ally can be.
Is anyone else having trouble with downloading games from steam? My download speed is way too slow even tho on my other devices is perfectly fast
If you're using a mesh network like eero or Google WiFi, the WiFi card isn't as good at picking it up. It's a shame. Happens with some of Asus's laptops too. Especially if it's a mediatek or non Intel or Qualcomm card

It’s typical Windows can’t connect and offline. It’s still 2002? My Asus window won’t close. Crap.
I dont have the greatest eyesight so I am getting the Steam OLED and I already have been tinkering with this one for a couple of days now and so far I have had to install WIN 10 and reinstall all the other software. Most of these games on WIN 11 just will not achieve a descent frame rate, no matter what you do (except in the Steam App, join the Beta) that for me doubled and at times tripled my frame rate to 40-70 depending on the scene (settings are at medium and a couple at high. Beta, Turbo, fps Limiter 60, AMD RSR -ON, preset fans to even arch. Windows 11 on this is horrible and RDR2 will not launch and Cyberpunk will not achieve anything beyond the teens fps. WIN 10 and I am getting 40-70 and finally enjoying. There are some downsides still, battery life is less than an 1 hour when you set it on Turbo but anything less why waste your time. And I wear Bose headphones so the speaker issue is mostly no big deal. This thing needs BlueTooth bad.

I got Ark Survival Ascended as my first game for this and I'm blown away that I can actually enjoy playing it on this. I couldn't even enjoy playing ark Evolved on my PS5 without it crashing every 10 minutes.

If anyone can help me understand. I am not familiar with consoles but have been a pc gamer since childhood. Now I am thinking to play some games in free time and thinking of buying xbox series S. Since this device has xbox game pass , how far will it support the capabilities of xbox ? Like will I be able to play all the games available in xbox gamepass like one plays in xbox series S. One good thing about the series s is it's plug and play. With the ally, you'll need to tweak the settings in some games. But for the most part, every game will run fairly well on it. I had a 4 hour flight and I was playing horizon zero dawn and guardians of the Galaxy on it and had a fantastic experience. What really helps is if the game supports AMD FSR. but even if, I've been loving playing in places that isn't my living room or bedroom tethered to a tv. Based on what you're looking for, I think you'll be happy with the results on any game in game pass ultimate

Are all the games that are available for xbox S console available for this device? Sorry my questions sound dumb but I have zero idea on the latest tech.!
@@AngshumanSarma Rog Ally is absicaly a pc, so in theory u can do everything u would do on a pc. The xbox app is something u also have in the pc and yes you can play most of the games in xbox series, not sure if all of them but most at least (even if not on xbox app you can probably play them on another app like steam or epic)
I think you'll get better performance out of the series s. But everything will still be playable on the ally. I haven't had issues running any game on it
