Girl, you are not learning how to be a herbalist, you were born to do it! Don't forget the days we watched you at your little house, with the sunroom full of tinctures. You just didn't have the physical space to fulfill those desires (and you had two babies at home). You now have all the tools; I can't wait to see you thrive! Looking forward to next years' herbal garden.
I pinched a nerve and i used the comfrey leaves as a poultice and it helped to remove the inflammation. Really helped a lot. Iam going to make the salve this plant truly does work
My husband has a sore on his leg for 13 years and I came across this ornament at a country store and I bought a small container ( he’s now on his second container) and it is slowly healing. Also he said he feels better. I believe it’s healing from the inside and removing the toxics in his leg. He picked up a fungus when a tree fell on his leg and ripped the skin open. His nerves around the sore were damaged from some meds he got from a doctor and he has no blood flow to his sore now. He is so impressed with this ointment. I want to learn to make my own to have for him. He also does wood work and is always cutting himself. I don’t want any other sore to become infected. I pay 22$ for 4oz. 🇨🇦 it’s made by a herbalist in our area. I quit buying store ointments. I sold oils and wanted to go into herbs but I just haven’t had the time looking after 2 sisters with health issues. I wish I could get them to go more natural but it seems they would rather be in pain. 😒😟
Thank you! ❤ I took a 6 month herbalism course last year and have been making so many things from the garden for loved ones/coworkers (gifts not $). It’s a blessing to have this knowledge and share so freely, as was always my dream. 😊
Jillie Girl, just seeing you and listening to you is comforting and healing! 🥰 Learning the plant and garden stuff is just (sugar free) frosting on top!! We all appreciate you and your sharing, SO much!! Keep up the great work at Whispering Willow!!! Sending LOVE, PRAYERS, and HUGS!!! 🥰🙏🤗 Susan, Napoleon MO
I love your videos, and just subscribed. I have a couple of tips for you if you're interested: Adding several drops of vitamin E will help keep the oils in your salve from going rancid too soon and prolong its shelf life. Also, adding a few drops of Lavender essential oil will serve as a skin soothing agent and give it a nice smell. (Essential oils should be added after taking your infused oil out of the slow cooker) Hope you or someone else finds this helpful.
I had a seriously painful knee injury that I had for 4+ months. Decided to put a comfrey poultice on it for 24 hours. After that it healed within a couple weeks. One day I realized the pain was gone.
Oh I’m definitely signing up as soon as I can! I finally found something that I really feel in my heart that I’m good at! I’ve never been able to just get something and remember what I’ve learned but herbs and gardening just comes so natural to me I can hardly believe it myself sometimes times lol I don’t know why it took me so long to realize this but I’m really glad I did!! Thank you so much!!❤

I Have gone through some of their courses and the Chestnut School of Herbal medicine too. I have found with trying to do a heat extracted oil method that crock pots were way too hot for the herbs. Even my lowest setting on my stove top was too hot also. You really should set a thermometer in it to watch and make sure it doesn't get over 110 degrees. The only way I found that had a precise consistent temp was using a programmable digital yogurt maker!
@@andrewhammill6148 try it and find out! I've used my dehydrator to proof bread dough before but never to do herbal infused oil. I would gently bring the oil and herbs up to temp on the stove and then pour it into a canning jar or a glass mixing bowl. Make sure to put a loose fitting lid so nothing can blow in there.
Thank you for the fast option! I pulled some rib muscle or connective tissues from coughing so much snd so hard from bronchitis. It got worse today and I need something as soon as possible.

Hi can you share rest of the steps for the comfrey salve after it sits for 6 weeks please? Also do you only use dried comfrey leaves? Or can you do a video on fresh leaves making a salve. Also how do you dry them? How long can they stay dry until you use them? Thank you
Using fresh herbs introduces moisture to the oil, which can make it go rancid. You can just tie a handful together and hang it somewhere, or you can lay it out, or put it in a dehydrator. You should use herbs within a year for optimal nutrional value.
Hi thank you for your reply. If I dry the leaves can I put them in a sealed plastic zip loc bag until I use them or in a brown paper bag or something else? Also what are the steps after the comfrey sits for 6 weeks? I have a crock pot and can also use one pot with another on top, instead of a double boiler. Do you use beeswax, is it necessary?
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe I had knee surgery last month and still having some pain but am trying to wean myself off traditional pain meds and go more herbal remedies. I m drinking some willow bark tea occasionally but to have the salve would help. Gonna give it a try. 😊
Questions...how long will this salve last on the shelf, approximately? I know different storage practices can be a factor. I have a freeze dryer, can i use freeze dried comfry? Only leaves? Thanks for your insight and knowledge!
I heard from another herbalist that you should leave the lid off the slow cooker because you don’t want to get condensation in the oil…not sure if this is true.
Has anyone mentioned that olive in a clear bottle or plastic bottle will go bad, usually before its purchased? When buying olive oil it should be in a dark glass bottle. 😊
Question: i make a strong pain salve with cannabis. Can i combine comfry oil to my salve? I have a tendon tear in my ankle. Would love to avoid surgery
I have a 16yr old granddaughter that would love to learn this stuff. Where do you think she should start since she is still in high school? She has property she can grow herbs.
Any ideas where to buy comfrey that yr not just getting shredded whose knows what. I made some, but ordered off Amazon. Not sure if it really was cuz who really knows. I gave RA, I wouldnt say it helped. So an actual person growing it to buy would be awesome to see if there is a difference. Cooking oil is ok? Hi Jill, love your videos ❤, but a little concerned about comfrey.. was looking to plant it in the garden this year bc I’ve heard so many great things, however, I’ve seen it also can be quite controversial. It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are cancer-causing agents. Wondering if you’ve learned much about this in your course? I’ve also read it’s toxic to ingest and toxins could seep in through the skin? Any ideas if this could be soaked up into plants when used as a fertiliser? Any thoughts on this would be super helpful! Thanks so much!
I haven't heard anything about the controversy. Is that about the leaves or what? I know comfrey tea has been a staple for more years than I am old! I might check on line.
@@tericamcginnis5848 From what I’ve read online and can understand, it seems as though the US has recognised it is toxic enough where it shouldn’t be eaten and has stopped allowing it in ingestible products, but are still using it in salves.
