    Great recipe! I make a comfrey/calendula salve also. We call it the “Green Stuff”.😅 Fixes most minor wounds.

      That sounds great! How do you incorporate the comfrey? Same infusion process?

      From “Herbs for Health and Healing” by Kathi Keville, Herbal Healing Salve.
      2 oz dried comfrey leaves, 1 oz dried calendula flowers, 2 c olive oil, 1 oz pure beeswax (shredded or pellets), 4 drops each tea tree and lavender essential oils. Place olive oil, herbs in crock pot on lowest setting for at least 5 hrs. Strain out herbs, pour 1 1/4 c of infused olive oil into a pan, add beeswax, heat just enough to melt. Add essential oils and stir. Pour immediately into little 1 oz glass jars or wide mouth mason jar. Store at room temperature. (I store my salve in the fridge, since one recipe can last over 5 yrs if I’m not giving it all away.). Great for cuts, scrapes and scars. Don’t put on stitches, skin will heal so fast it’s hard to get stitches out, ask me how I know that! Put on after stitches are out, little scarring.

    I also struggled with an itchy dry scalp from psoriasis and one of the things that brings SO much relief is just straight olive oil. So just apply and work into the scalp, let it sit for 20-30 minutes (you can wrap in a towel, piece of old bed sheet, etc.), then massage the scalp and rinse out. It takes multiple shampoos and rinses to get it out, but the difference is huge! Also, my Grandmother from the Balkans used to grow calendula and use it in lots of home remedies (we still have flowers that grow in our garden from seeds she gave us), so it's funny/nice to see more people discovering the benefits of it :) Awesome video!

      Ah wonderful tip!! I love trying these alternatives first before turning to harsher options. I’m often surprised at how well herbs work especially topically!

    I love this so much! I'd been adding a touch of beeswax to get the pretty petals to stick at the end and you way is so much easier and more sensible. 😜 I love any herbal preparation video!

    Do you have a video on growing lavender? I’m trying to grow for first time, but I would like to know a little bit more about how to grow it correctly.

    I wouldn't extract anything in plastic or use and oil that is in plastic because of the microplastics. I believe 100% grass fed beef tallow would be more healthier then any oil. Remember hundreds of thousands of years ago they used fats from wild animals that were corn and soy free. And they used oil for mechanic stuff before they started using for cooking so technically people are cooking there food with mechanic oil and that's gross and unhealthy. Heavy metal and mold toxicity can cause skin issues like eczema and gut issues. Pretty much all health issues stim from the (Gut Brain Axis) and it's best to test for environmental exposure and toxins. Vibrant wellness labs is one of the best places to get those types of tests and the Organic acid test is so amazing. I hope this information helps in any way ❤ thank you for sharing your salve recipe 😊

    How do you store the salves? Do they need to be refrigerated and how long do they last?

    I'm not a huge fan of the smell of lavender. Does the salve smell like lavender when its finished? I didn't catch if you said what essential oils you like to add. Someone told me once that "flower oils" are good for skin. Can't wait to check out the garden plan!!!

    • @Blossomandbranch
      @Blossomandbranch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use lavender oil then it will smell like lavender! The infused oil has hardly any scent. You could use rose or another scent you prefer for the essential oil or just leave it unscented :)

      @@Blossomandbranch Oh thank you. I actually don't like rose much either. But I do love chamomile and often use that in my salves.
      I'm so excited to try this out! It seems very flexible and helpful. I run a Farmers' Market and sometimes as the end of year gift to my vendors, I give them hand made (by me and my kids) skin care products. This seems like a nice one to try for that.

      @@Blossomandbranch Could you put the oil in a crockpot? I thought that might keep me from boiling it. I was wondering about putting it on low or even warm for an hour or two...

      You could look at using Jojoba, avacodo, or grapeseed oil. Look for a shop that specializes in soap and/or lotion making supplies and you can find a variety of different oils.
