I really enjoyed this format of one person working and another providing commentary. Great way to do it.
Hey, you don't want me to work! I'll let Jeremy do all the good stuff
I would love to see a troubleshooting and solution video for window and door installs. If sill plates are offset on a double door, door out of plumb on both sides opposite to each other etc. i don't mind if i have to fur out for trim work inside, but what do i do if i have to tip door out 1/2" both sides ? How do i make my siding look half decent or properly fasten and seal my door when it's that far out of plumb?
This is a great idea for a video! I will see if I can find something that would be as you described above and make a video about it.
Man, i'd even pay a few bucks for something detailed! I've worked with windows and doors since inwas young and hang it plumb and level, waterproof like no ones business, but no installer i've met had a good answer for these. I'm subscribed ! Keep it coming guys 👍
Can you clarify a few things? Where are your hinge side shims? Does the foam serve the same purpose as the shims? Also, no 3" screws in the top hinge? What keeps it from pulling away? The top hinge carries the most outboard weight. Also, no 3" screws in the deadbolt strike plate? Those help stop kick-ins. Lastly, what did you use for brickmould? It doesn't look like standard 180 brickmould?
We used 3" screws in all of those locations. The foam does a terrific job. However, we do use composite shims to get it set in place.
You didn't show brick molding removal??
We may have edited that out for the sake of time. It's pretty easy and straightforward.
Give Jeremy a microphone.
Thanks for catching that, very observant! We actually had a issue with the SD card corrupting on us. Unfortunately, all of the audio we got came off the camera itself. Since I talk so much louder than Jeremy, it's quite obvious.
