Video games tend to not do super well when adapted to the big screen, but gosh dangit, Hollywood’s determined to keep trying. The latest attempt is Uncharted, based on the popular game series called Uncharted. With a surprisingly good performance at the box office, maybe they’ll keep on doing this kind of thing?
The Uncharted movie definitely raises some questions though. Like why were Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg chosen to star as characters they seem nothing like? How has nobody explored the very accessible ancient access points in Barcelona, one of which is literally in a Papa John’s pizza shop? How did Sully and Nathan get into the trunk of that car on the cargo plane? How did Moncado miraculously not lose a single drop of blood? Why can’t iconic characters wear their iconic outfits in movies anymore?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Uncharted! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

NEVER underestimate a hype train.
Words to live by guys.
I mean, a train is a train.
The true Nathan Drake would derail the train
A hype train is the complete antithesis of a regular train, in that it is always too early.
Idk, it was a pretty fun movie in my opinion
Who was hyped when this movie was cast?
My gripe with the treasure hunting genre is that in most stories, it's a series of steps to get to the treasure. While the first step is usually the one thing that nobody could access until the protagonist shows up, the following steps apparently trivialize the first one.
The major one in this movie is not the keyholes and vents between the Papa John's or the night club. It's the fact that the ships were stored in virtually plain sight, by the very people who couldn't trust each other that they needed the two crosses as a test of cooperation. The whole clues journey with the crosses is trivialized when you realize that the crew knew exactly where the loot was and could reach it with no cooperation with the rest of the crew or Magellan. Just go to the unprotected cove and grab it.
I don't know if that was the case of the National Treasure series or not but I really liked it, even though some people who just saw the trailer complain about it just because it didn't have Nicolas Cage. I don't think in the two movies or the series what you said is the case, for example in the movie he has to use the pipe to unlock the door to the treasure room. But I'm not sure.
@@sarahberkner I guess it's time to rewatch National Treasure and see
@@sarahberkner I rewatched the two National Treasure movies. The first one was tighter. Except for the treasure being ultimately underground in NYC, a city known for its underground infrastructure, and that the entrance and exit go through two different graves, it seemed like the steps required the previous ones.
The second movie was somewhat loose. The text on the statue of liberty is visible to anyone with binoculars, rendering the first cipher redundant. Planks are hidden in desks with pretty stumble-uponnable locking mechanisms, and one president even found it out on his own. It was also weirdly unclear what part of the solution came from the plank and what from the bad guy's burnt letter from the queen. In the end, the entrance was from a wet rock that anyone passing by could see on a drizzly day with some sun. And the exit was through a tunnel leading straight out to daylight, which while they didn't show exactly where, it would still be visible from outside without following any riddles.
Yea, and just the general trope of the bad guys simply following the protagonist anyway. No puzzle solving necessary.
“So which game do we want to take from?”
“All of them.”
First game: Secondary antagonist killing the primary antagonist.
Second game: Chloe’s questionable loyalty.
Third game: The entire cargo plane scene.
Fourth game: Stealing a cross from an auction house.
Second game (too): beginning with the most iconic action part with Drake waking up.
This movies passes all the uncharted clichés

@@barfo281 And as long as idiots keep spending money to see this trash Hollywood will keep producing it.
I’m just gonna watch this in place for the movie and that’s all I need.
@@barfo281 Delivering what no one asked for is tight!!
Okay, this is the only Chanel on YT that I’m constantly checking to see new stuff from. You rock Ryan…keep’em coming bro!!!
Me too!
probably the most entertaining reviews on the web. congrats on PM getting its own channel
Thank you for splitting pitch meetings into it's own channel! I've been wanting that forever now.
No discredit to Ryan's writing abilities at all but I'm pretty sure that was just an exact copy of what the Studio Execs said when it came to casting Tom Holland as Nathan Drake.
If it's the truth it's the truth
I am so happy this is back, I was wondering if the show has been cancelled. Which wouldn't make sense because this is the only reason why I subscribe to this channel.
Sooooooooo
And now we can all finally unsubscribe. Yay! 🙌
And now it gets it's own channel! So no reason left to subscribe to this channel!
"Oh, very character defining!"
I love these meetings 🧡
So happy that Pitch Meetings is getting their own channel! Literally the only reason I was still subscribed to this channel!!!
Love the Pitch Meetings 10x more than most of the movies he's pitched.
So basically, he used a post credit scene to announce that the pitch meeting universe is getting bigger
This is Ryan’s Nick Fury moment!
I'm here to talk to you about the pitch meeting initiative
These never fail to bring me joy! Still it’s been so difficult not having the weekly dose of pitch meetings over the last month! Never take holiday ever again Ryan! 😉
Ryan must never take holidays.
I for one am pretty happy to hear that Pitch Meetings is getting it's own channel since uh...Well...I'ts literally the only reason I even subbed to Screen Rant. Ryan George, you're a brilliant man. I'm happy you can branch off on your own
Ryan can finally take a load off. After years of carrying 'Screen Rant' on his shoulders, his back must be killing 😂😂😂
Screen Rant got almost all the way off his back 😁
Finally, pitch meetings gets its own channel. This is long overdue. Great work Ryan. 👍
Welcome back man! We missed you! Having you do pitch meetings is tight!
“Wow wow wow… wow”
Translation “I can’t believe the sequence of words flowing into my ears “
Ryan is pretty much the ONLY reason I ever subbed to Screen Rant. Congratulations, Ryan!
Can’t believe how long the past few weeks felt without fresh Pitch Meetings! So glad we are back on track 😃
Love how you always put more thought into these than the producers did... or rather didn't. =)
