The song "i" literally changed my life. I made bold decisions just because I was inspired by the song and I'm more confident because of it. Fucking love Kendrick man.
did any of you listen to the interview? bashing on this guy while Kendrick helped him which is what Kendrick set out to do. But that's alright, some people can't comprehend genius lyrics.
There are many reasons but the main reason I love and respect Kendrick as an artist is the fact that he really doesn't care about labels or what others think he is/should be. He's just making the records he wants; no matter how it turns out critically/popularly.
That's all artists should be..In the 90s hip hop was about being different and having your own identity.how many new artist today would any of you even watch a documentary or movie on..the list is short to very non existent
I agree with Terrence Cureton 100%. I like Macklemore. He is bringing something new to the table but even he agreed that Kendrick had the best new album this year.
It's not even humility. The dude is just real... and respectful. He referred to himself as a leader in music. He's confident because he knows who he is and he's not looking for superficial validation.

This is the reason why Kendrick Lamar is going to be around for a very long time. He understands the mission. Regardless of what people say, this dude has had an impact in hip hop for a while now and its because of the music. Of course internet trolls are gonna say dumb shit but that's what they do. Kendrick Lamar is not everyone's cup of tea which is fine but you cant deny the influence.
I truly enjoy Kendrick talking, being true, staying centered and humble. I'm also glad to see that for once, there is a ton of positivity in the comments. Hope everyone has a great day, and also listens to a little Tribe tonight.
What Kendrick says from 27:00 onward is too true. That's the problem with a lot of rap music today. Sure you may find it entertaining, but it's creating a culture, a way of thinking, in black communities that no one will ever hear of or see. I've already seen the influence of it on my peers from high school. How they'd see selling dope and having hoes was what made you cool, and how being in gangs was what you were supposed to do. Dropping out of school, theivery, they thought it all made them better as people. They'd try to imitate the rappers way of life as best they could, but they missed the part where the rapper is getting paid to do all of it while they're paying with their money and their lives possibly. Hearing Kendrick speak about this himself has made me gain even more respect for him than I've already had.
True. It's one thing to tell a story -- it's another thing to glamourize being broke, uneducated, and desperate. Rappers lie way too much nowadays. It makes me cringe when ever I hear the radio play such poop.
That's what people don't understand. of course you gonna think like that if you are not in the hood. The hood influence is what got the kids thinking and act like that. What your talking about is dealing with wannabes
MegaMkoi Now don't get me wrong, there are some individuals who were raised in the hood and who've seen what the hood does and expresses that as an obstacle that they've overcome, but if that is all they can talk about -- they shouldn't expect to be relevant and respected for too long. Getting lift from your hood alone without skill is disrespectful to the art. And that "gangsta by association" shit is what them rap clowns do. Far too many rap clowns out, know what I mean?
Rappers talk about the things they see and experience on the streets only fools who are not from the real streets think is cool to imitate the rappers.
Kendrick Lamar is 27yrs old and he has some wisdom. He's wise beyond his years. I can tell he's been through some real tough situations. I appreciate that through his music he opens up and speaks from the heart. Real talk with his Good Kid, M.A.A.D. city album it reminded me of Snoop and Dre's The Chronic album. When that album came out I was like what the hell am I listening to? I've never heard anything like that and it had me so hyped. That's how Kendrick's album made me feel. I really dig Kendrick. He's doing something different and that's what's up.

"There's nothing new under the sun." That is so refreshing to hear a musician admit that. Everyone is so quick to act like it's a crime to not be completely original. But it's damned near impossible. It's all been done. You're just putting your own spin on something that came before you. I love it. The more I hear and see from this dude, the more I wanna hear and see.
Ricochet Invader 2 All good my dude. Im just mocking all the top 5's that are listed on the comments. Its comedy to me, to see everyone bitching at each other.
All lies people find inspiration in all types of music. Music is inspiration in it self. Cole, kendrick & even macklemore or in a position where they don't really have to compromise their music to sell records. But it's a lot of rappers that rap about the same things they do & nobody cares. A lot of rappers do trap, gangsta & party music but still do music with substance. They aren't the only ones trying to inspire people.
Kendrick is about the music and it shows in his work!! Hip Hop needs substance again. How many more songs are we gonna discuss "Red Bones", cars, chains and trap shit. I am a FAN!!! #TeamKDot
From 26:00 this man is speaking straight facts. Crazy to come back to right now, and Drake literally became everything he talked about 🤯 the culture don’t believe in you anymore
If this list is a list based of lyricism then it's terrible. Childish Gambino does not have good lyrics. His lyrics could've been written by a kid in elementary school. If you're referencing Rugrats and Ariel Pink in your music you're not on top of the game. His punch lines are pathetic and he constantly is bragging about how black he isn't and how he is trying to gain respect for it. Not to mention Donald says he wants to put away with hip hop stereotypes while he talks about how he gets women constantly in all of his music. "Asian girls everywhere, UCLA, You See Me bae"...are you serious???
Ok first off, Donald never said he wasn't black quiet the opposite heard "Hold you down" or "Black faces" off of Royalty. Also him liking Asian girls isn't a problem heard of Jhene Aiko? He also likes white, latino, even BLACK girls yes!!!! He doesn't really speak of it on record but yeah. Anyway Gambino is very good lyrically they're is hidden meaning in a lot of his lines as for muscial taste LaRel's musical preference I actually agree with with the exception of Kendrick at #1 and J.Cole at #3 swap Cole for 1 and Kendrick #2 and that's basically my list. So yeah everyone has different musical proclavities but we shouldn't judge, we're all humans on God's green earth. Peace. Stay Blessed y'all.
Jeremy Diesel that's what I said...I said he is obsessed with talking about being black and how black he isn't to other black people. Not sure how long you took to do your research but this isn't a rebuttal. This is you agreeing with me.
I agree that he talks about about how unblack he is, but he's saying that he doesn't act like the stereotypical black guy, he is in fact black but he has tendencies that are considered white. But has black skin.
I think the thing I really love about Kendrick is that he's so humble man.. He just cares about music. I'm pretty sure he doesn't smoke and drink cause he wants a clear mind when he records. Kendrick looks real focused right now. I think Kendrick Lamar understands how rare it is in mainstream hip-hop these to be as big as he is and as lyrical and conscious he is. He's using this plateau to actually have a positive impact on culture. It's pretty awesome.
What an awesome, genuine artist. A man that truly thinks deeply and deserves every ounce of success he has achieved. Love the Thundercat shoutouts too.
all of y'all are childish. it's an opinion. they can say whatever the fuck they want. even if it sounds like bullshit to the rest of us, it's their opinion
Got me dropping tears right now. His insight is just so inspiring and deep. I'd really love to meet this dude one day. Such a beautiful human being in every single way I'm sure.
Kendrick comes out with a song with a super positive message and that makes him a sellout? This generation is fucked. And it's not like he hasn't made songs like this in the past. Fuck your ethnicity, heaven and hell, now or never etc...all those songs from his earlier projects had an upbeat positive vibe to it. I don't understand the hate the "I" track has been getting. I really don't.
I think it's because a large group of his so called fans nowadays are just mainstream listeners who bandwagon to what's hot at the moment. They probably never even heard of the tracks you mentioned.
Damn... The last minutes are probably the most important of this interview... So nice to see such a positive, inspiring person and an artist... Keep doing what you are doing, Kendrick, you are unstoppable...
Bro really helped me decide to stop rapping, really. I see something in him and he takes his craft life-serious. I want to see other artists make it when they have the energy to put into working at it because there's a reason for that. Good interview.
This is my favorite Kendrick interview, I watch this interview almost every month and I watch it all😭🔥... There's so powerful words or message on this interviee.

Rosenberg fucked that up tho 👽👽
I like this man
Bro I just hear this for the first time & had to check the comments to see if someone caught that... I’m mad they ignored that.
I swear gee I thought I was the only one that got that😂😂 had to check the comments
This was a dope interview ‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👑✌🏾❣️
I love how he actually goes back and forth with eye contact in conversation. You can tell he is actually passionate about what he has to say
I thought he'd call Alli to turn up the headphobes

Ricochet Invader 2 All good my dude. Im just mocking all the top 5's that are listed on the comments. Its comedy to me, to see everyone bitching at each other.

@@aeerjordan4994the Kendrick effect
Me😅😅😅😅
kendrick and cole are the only ones really inspiring the people.
krit too, too many people sleep on him.
StonerHAS and let's not forget Logic either.
And Logic
New school?
7:48 dude started spitting bars outta nowhere
Kendrick is about the music and it shows in his work!! Hip Hop needs substance again. How many more songs are we gonna discuss "Red Bones", cars, chains and trap shit. I am a FAN!!! #TeamKDot
From 26:00 this man is speaking straight facts. Crazy to come back to right now, and Drake literally became everything he talked about 🤯 the culture don’t believe in you anymore
Ong bruh
The best out right now.
1. Kendrick Lamar
2. Big K.R.I.T.
3. J. Cole
4. Joey Bada$$
5. Childish Gambino
*Enjoyment wise. Who's your top 5?
And also on a side note:LaRel your channel is Awesome brother keep up the good work!!!!!
Kendrick is so humble

This dudes honesty and mindset is beyond amazing. I love this guy and what he stands for.
What an awesome, genuine artist. A man that truly thinks deeply and deserves every ounce of success he has achieved. Love the Thundercat shoutouts too.
"how do you stay the same when everything around you is changing so fast?" "i keep genuine people around me" what a great answer by kendrick, man
"i'm just in the studio, i ain't got time to look cute" xD 22:14
kendrick is the best rapper of all time
L he is top 10 but he's not the best rapper of all time you both wildin
Sunbro Sharm the fact you're even remotely comparing K Dot to MJ proves your knowledge on music is severely lacking..
all of y'all are childish. it's an opinion. they can say whatever the fuck they want. even if it sounds like bullshit to the rest of us, it's their opinion
lol, are you 10? @mike
***** no you're 10
"I" is mainstream? Jokes. Peeps forgot that he released "Poetic Justice" as a single?
We’re going to look at this interview in 20 years and just be like wow….we always knew 🐐

GKMC dropped March 19, 2013. It is Nov 3, 2014.
Unless you are from 2015 my Math doesn't agree with you.
he is starting to leak songs
Dude said "GKMC dropped March 19, 2013." where you from hommie?
Escobar600GOAT_NODEBATING. LOL where did you get that from??
Escobar600GOAT_NODEBATING. you mad challenged son
27:48 🥲😢
Thank God for Kendrick and that music stays around forever. Brb
