I been in Compton a few times, I have familia there, shit there is crazy, a whole different lifestyle.
“Started from the bottom” always triggered me. Drake was living the exact life that most teens in the middle and lower class dreamed of. “Nuhh I had to borrow my uncles Acura and he wouldn’t let me keep it out late”. Meanwhile a man from an area riddled with gang violence, where most people will had personally known victims of gun violence, still maintains a more positive message. Generally, except for when it comes to dismantling the biggest crybaby in music.
Even we have no gangs here but most of us lived in poverty. I finished my school and can go descent in life but Drake's "bottom" looks like a dream life for me lol.
Yeah, OVO n***as is d**k riders
Tell ’em run to America to imitate heritage, they can't imitate this violence
yeah, if anyone started from the bottom it was Kendrick. He got out of there against all odds, and this video is just a snapshot of the conditions he had to grow up in.
Aubrey has no respect for what people actually go through at the bottom, he's blinded by his own ego and only sees what's around him. There are so many people who would love to see what Aubrey had at his lowest.
Bruh this is silly. It's all about perspective. You can be born in the hills and still have obstacles and hurdles because of your perspective. Drake may have not been born in Compton but his perspective from where he was as a child to a single-mom and as an actor scouting for work to where he is now; he sees it as coming from the bottom to the top. It's ALL PERSPECTIVE. We outchea playing oppression Olympics and wearing our poor/humble backgrounds as a badge of honour when in truth no one cares. No one asked our parents to have sex and make babies while living in a shit hole. I was born in the hood too, just letting yall know. This isn't coming from a privileged perspective
@@balmainrichard1335 yes the bottom indeed lmao

Calling Kendrick “an average student” just further proves that the school system fails OUR COMMUNITY. A kid that talented had to find an alternative route to get his talent out to the world.

Blows my mind that the reporter wasn't aware of this world because the hood is never far away even if you live in a nice neighborhood the hood could be 3 miles from were you live the hoods never far
Yes but this is different. Depending on the state a hood could be lower income housing, some people doing hard drugs, and the local drug dealer but going from that to multiple killings, drive bys, and a plug on basically every corner is completely different. On one end the people living there know what happens but it's very dl, on the other hand it's brazen and violent. Those are enormous differences.

The problem is that the high school curriculum does not teach real economically viable skills and owning businesses, factories or labs and no research, instead it is a preparation to pay collage fees.
so deep incredible
Public school was originally set up to ready people to work in factories (was a push from the buisness lobby), that's why it's so repetitive. Economically viable skills change every 5 years--thats why this old model of schooling no longer works.
@@GhostlyTeehee at the end of the day, if you pan out and look, they are just making money off the people and leaving the rest to fight for scraps in a wasteland, they have commodified the sharing of Information, research and manufacturing, effectively cutting off black people from being American in substance, while funding bounty hunters and paramilitary police and veterans of war, to hunt and kill kids who are fending for themselves.
@@eastafrika728 the masters tools cannot remove the masters shed. We cannot fall into the trap of believing their way of making money is the way forward for us. Fighting this oppression needs new models of community and economy--which can only be created through critical thinking, empathy, logical deduction, a humanities education, etc. Kids needs skills such as these that prepare kids for an ever changing and uncertain world. These skills aren't present in a STEM focused environment, where the main focus is job training--not human development.
