LML Duramax Turbo Install Part 1

2015 Chevy 2500HD 6.6 Liter LML Duramax. The turbo started to whine and it was determined to be coming from the exhaust housing side of the turbo. So in this video I will be doing an install of a new turbo with gaskets. This job normally calls for 11 hours of labor but all of the DPF, EGR, etc. has been removed which aids in removing the turbo that much easier. I did head gaskets, studs, and a cp3 install on this engine not long ago then the turbo started to make noise a few thousand miles later. The turbo was purchased from Xtreme Diesel Performance. Hey as soon as you can change the up pipe, it will leave you on the side of the road if you leave the block off plate on there too long

@@operationoverhaul thankfully I learned through some friends and went straight to new up pipe lol. After seeing more of your videos your a pretty well informed mechanic but just incase you just didn’t know it’s the bellows that blow, my buddy’s have all said it sounds like a grenade under the hood lol

Did you have to get under the motor to remove the down pipe

No, I was able to get the top connection from up top and I went through the passenger fender to get to the bottom.

How similar is a 15 to the 2013? I need to replace mine and am fairly mechanically inclined and have some experience on semi's. Is it doable in a weekend?

How did you remove the driver side bottom up pipe bolt i got the two on the top off but can’t get the very bottom off any tips?

You are talking about the bottom bolt on the turbo side correct?

I got the passenger side bolts off I just can’t get the driver side very bottom one off due to space not being enough

It is tight but it will get in there and break them loose.
