My name is Cory and I run my own side business of repairing cars. My shop name is Four Leaf Auto and I live in South Carolina just below the North Carolina boarder near Charlotte. I work on anything and everything basically. I want to show people how to work on cars and what it looks like to work on cars. Also, I show tool videos of new tools and what I think about specific tools. I enjoy making the videos to help people no matter how many views I get. Thank you to everyone who subscribe and support me. I really do appreciate the support.

2006 Subaru Legacy I that needs rear brakes on it. The car had been sitting for a few years and, as you can tell, the rotors are pretty rusted and eat up with corrosion. I also changed the front brakes but that will be in the next video.

Great video I also have a 1999 GMC 3500hd with the I Beam but I'm trying to get parts for it bushings for the knuckle I think.
Modern mechanics are so sad. I've had many places that say they can't diagnose any issues without OBD2. First off, there's codes like this, secondly, even without codes many issues can be narrowed down or even fully diagnosed with a bit of inspection and knowledge of how the car works. It's always a sad day when I have to send the car off to a mechanic due to tool limitations haha
How do you fix the negative camber on the control arm I’m guessing
You do it with the rear lateral link. It has the adjustments on it and lets you adjust the negative and positive camber.
This was an amazing video! I followed step by step and I had success! If you are following along just a quick reminder. There is a tensioner sleeve that the cable MUST fit into after you connect to the door handle replacement. If you don’t, it won’t open. Trust me!
Thank you for the comment and I am glad that it helped you out.
Good video thanks helps alot
Glad it helped
I ended up getting it. I didn’t have any metal shaving in there redone the process still won’t shift out of 3rd gear just high revs I fear the auto shop was right my transmission is shot but I don’t have any engine lights . With 70k miles how is that possible
What color was the fluid and how is the shift from 1st to 2nd?
@@operationoverhaul it was dark brown like it was never changed. The shift first to second is normal the when I accelerate in second it goes but it don’t change to third it like red lines almost
I got the bolts out but mine still appears to be super tight.
Is the driveshaft tight to get out of the differential or just the area is tight to get to?
Any tips to getting the driveshaft off
What are you having issues with? Is it the bolts or getting it to drop down?
@@operationoverhaul I can’t get the bolts out on the driveshaft to remove the pan I tried to do it without moving the driveshaft. But it seems impossible.
Thoughts on the recommended aftermarket part vs OEM? The sway bar links are failing on my wife’s soul but they lasted 80,000 miles!
The aftermarket parts are usually good, but OEM will last longer in my opinion. I would just compare the price and see if the difference is large enough to go oem. I will say depending on what brand you go with aftermarket depends on how long they will last as well.
Is it the same procedure for a 2004 ( 2.7 ) ? Thx
The shape is a little different from this pan but it very similar in the removal process. You may have a cover or the subframe may be a little different but it is the same procedure that you use to remove it though.
Thanks , Mate !!@@operationoverhaul
Great video. Well spoken! saves a lot of time not having to remove the subframe! 🫡
It is a lot less work this way also. Just need to be careful when doing but if you take your time everything should go smoothly.
Could I fly you to Miami to change mine? Probably cheaper than what the mechanic quoted me. 😬
Lol the funny thing about that is that I was in Miami because I went on a cruise just the other week.
@operationoverhaul arrrrgh
Great video. Only question, why cut off every single part where you actually removing something? Thats the most important part we want to see and you never seem to show that. Like removing the cam gears for example. Have you tried using a tripod to hold the camera while you work?
I get mixed comments on videos. Some people want to see everything and some people only want to see what needs to be replaced without all the actual removing of the parts. I do some videos showing everything and some not showing everything.
Great video. Do I need to worry about over tightening the spark plugs when screwing them back in
I would thread them in until they bottom out then no more than another quarter of a turn
Doesn't look like yours was leaking? No oil anywhere? So why change?
I had to remove the transmission to change the torque converter on it and there were over 200k miles so we did it as a preventative measure. I always change them when I have the transmission out of a car especially with than many miles.
I have the same problem!😂😂😂
I have replaced several of them since this video and I have the same issue on every one of them. They seize in the housing so bad.
One question: should those retainers turn or are mine already damaged?
Mine would rotate around the top of the strut so I think they are meant to turn. They would turn on the new and old ones.
This was a great video! You explained everything in a way that makes it seem possible for me to tackle. Keep up the great work.
You're welcome, I appreciate the comment!
hello from france, exellent video, thank you very much! i have a question: is the new chain the right length? i mean there is no need to remove links before installing it, just close it with the clips? thank you
The new chain should be the correct length. You will not need to remove any links at all.
Thank you for your effort.. I have a question.. That valve connected on the vacuum pump that you couldn't pull off at the beginning.. There is a hose in it going above the exhaust... I wanna know what is it connected to? Cuz in my car it's not connected and it sucks air And thanks again
It goes to your brake booster and if that is not hooked up, then your brakes will work correctly. I would check that most definitely. Are your brakes hard to push or not stopping great?
@operationoverhaul thanks for the reply.. Not what i meant... The side of the valve that connects to the brake booster is connected and the brakes are fine.. What i meant was... On your vehicle in the video.. The valve has three hoses.. That first hose that connects to something right above the exhaust..
@@abdoelsayed1325 I tried looking it up but without the car I cannot find what it connects to. I no longer have this car but I will see what I can find for you and try to help you.
I appreciate it
I got my new torsion keys and they seem a little loose on the torsion bar, is it okay to have a little play or should the keys be snug on the bar?
I have noticed that some of the aftermarket keys are a little loose on the bars. You should be fine
Awesome thanks and Awesome you replied after posting this years ago, thank you for your video.

👍
I I have a card the same but I change it. The timing after timing team engine working very well after three minute is off is not working. Can you tell me what I what can I do
What does the car do when you try to start it?
I have a question about how much fluid did you use to fill it up. I got me a Japanese one and was wondering if I should fill it up pass three quarts or the 6+ quarts. Great job and video!!
I would add about 3 quarts and then check it while running to see if you need to add more. I cannot remember exactly how much I used.
How much does this service normally cost?
It really depends on the area and how much a shop charges but roughly I would say around 500 max. I think it calls for around 1.5 to 2 hours per side if I remember correctly.
Where did you get the parts from
Nvm
Damn 9 ft lbs for the oil pan bolts? That seems crazy low to me for something so important 😂 but thanks for the vid man, great job
Yeah it seems really low but a lot of cars are doing that now. Most are around 9 to 13 ft lbs.
For the life of me I could not get that pedal connector disconnected. If you've got any pro tips let me know I just couldn't get two hands back there to slip it up.
I would try using a pick if you can. Get it under the tab and the clip and it should come out easier.
Would this throw code P0183? If not could you tell me where the fuel temperature sensor is located ?
This normally does not cause a P0183 and the sensor is made into the fuel filter housing if I remember correctly.
Thank you for filming this! I always appreciate when I can find a video doing the exact job on my same model/year of vehicle!
You're welcome, let me know if you have any questions.
Hey bud, just got done with the first strut, thanks for your help! Not to be a stickler, but I did notice something that you would probably want to know. The steering knuckle bolt doesn’t attach through the hole on the shock absorber/strut. I came to that same point and almost quit last night, but I checked the other strut and that bolt actually goes over the entire little ear/tongue on the strut. It’s supposed to rest along the circumference of the shock on the raised area where the brackets for the beak line and speed sensor are located and torqued to I think 77 lbs which is more than tight enough to keep it secure, trust me, I almost broke my face with my torque wrench. Hope that helps!
I'm glad you got it done. Thanks for letting me know about the bolt, I will have to check that out.
Is the sport a single or dual piston break?
I think the sport is a single.
excellent video and thanks for the step by step and torque specs needed!
No problem, glad I could help.
Thank you for mentioning what size sockets you needed.
Your welcome.
Appreciate the video. Always helps when the torque specs are mentioned in the video, so I don’t have to look them up separately.
Your welcome and I try to mention them so people do not have to go look them up as you stated. It makes it easier for people.
Wonderful guide!
Thank you for the view and comment.
how long did it take??
It took a couple of hours to complete.
How much is a typical price for this transmission replacement?
It calls for about 6 or 7 hours so look to spend around 7 to 800 dollars in labor.
Would this throw code P050E
That code normally deals with just exhaust. I personally have not seen it related to a thermostat.
I have the same leak on a vulcan in a Taurus right now. I would have bet my left nut it was coming from the head gasket so I pulled the back head. NOPE! So on top of now replacing a corroded timing cover, I get to do a head gasket and deal with all the intake stuff. Yup, it SUCKS TO BE ME RIGHT NOW! What really chaps my ass is I am the guy that flushes coolant every 2years religiously! I've noticed a lot of corrosion in steel pipes on the firewall too. Something tells me I have a weak grounds.
Sounds that way of there is corrosion. It is a big flaw in these engines.
@operationoverhaul yup. I got a new timing cover for it. Now to look at the pipes on the firewall that feed the heater core. What a mess!
@jagboy69 good luck on everything. I hope everything goes smooth for you
@operationoverhaul thank you. Walk in the park.
If you can do this why do mechanics tell me its engine out???
To change the guides you need to remove the engine but this car had really good guides on it because of the low mileage
I tested my both my new and old actuator, both work but after installing the new one it won't engage properly and it just beeps. Forks were slid to the left (passenger) and I made sure to get it in the groove. Any idea why it beeps or what it's getting hung up on? (5th gen 2016 4w sr5)
How easy did the fork move inside of the differential?
For anyone who has encountered busted head bolts on these 3.5s from burnt exhaust valves. I used a left hand drill bit and as soon as it bit into the bolt it backed it right out!! All 4 came out with ease!! No more tension on them I guess!! Didn't need ez outs!!
That is what I used to get mine out as well. Like you said, once the tension is off of them they come out pretty easy.
Thanks for the weather report!
Quick question. Your video is the third video i saw. Seem to be that right side rear axle seal is what seem need to be changed. As of mu rx330 my rear right side axle seal seem to leak a bit. I seen moisture. So i ordered the part from lexus and bout to change it. With all that said and done. Is this something like the one to go bad?
I do see that the right side is the most common to go bad for some reason. I do not know why the right side does that more than the left but I would put some grease inside the seal, then use rtv sealant on the outside of the seal before installing it into the differential.
I have the same repair except my compressor is still good. My condenser is leaking at the bottom pretty bad. I was going to replace the o rings, accumulator/drier, and the condenser. How much oil do I need to add? Since I won't be replacing the compressor.
I would probably do at lease 4 oz of oil.
Thank you for the video, really appreciate it.
Your welcome and let me know if you have any questions.
I paid 350 to get the sway bar links replaced. I think I was overcharged. What do you think?
It depends on the shop rate, your location, and the parts price but I do feel that is a little steep in my opinion. I think it calls for an hour or less to do these.
@ I'm in Texas. The parts are about $40 bucks. He lost a customer. First time he overcharges me. I'm planning to look for someone else to work on my cars.
@MrOldeastdallas i do not know if you are willing to work on them yourself but if you do and need any help on how to do it feel free to ask and i can try to give you advice and help anyway I can. If I were closer I would work on them for you.
