    Great tip using the container to catch the coolant!! Love your idea!

    My uncle was telling me that if I'm missing coolant and the oil housing is leaking then that's where my coolant is going. I wasn't understanding that then. But when you drained the coolant from the hose to the oil housing, it made sense then. I also noticed that the small bolt under the manifold is backwards. Instead of going left to loosen it, you went right. There's quite a few bolts like that on the E90. But thank you, I'm changing this gasket today. I'm not doing the valve cover gasket cause that's too much to take off and I don't want to do it. I am a certified mechanic. I just choose not to do it unless it's not a lot to take off. I don't care to get dirty and I'm allergic to diesel. Found that out when I went to school. Thank you for this video. I was just going to look in the book. Great video

      Breebree Bam how everything go? I’m doing mine today or maybe tomorrow i just need the swivel

    • @sabriw270
      @sabriw270 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@randormoreno4531 it actually went pretty well. Its not hard to do at all. You can use an universal socket for the bolt under the manifold. You don't have to take that off. I think I used an 8mm or a 10mm universal socket with a swivel extension. Just clean the housing real good replace the gasket and replace the bolts and the hoses. Also put the air filter box back on. Also replace the coolant as well. Remember the coolant is always blue.

    Great video! Is it same process on bmw 640i? I have 32k miles and gasket already leaking. I have a question how soon I should change it if it’s dangerous? Thanks 🙏

    • @SaltCityEuros
      @SaltCityEuros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey I am sorry I don’t know the process for the 640i, but would love to know. When you ask if it’s dangerous, are you asking if it’s dangerous to not change it and leave it leaking?

  • @daniellasko6398
    @daniellasko6398 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd recommend changing out the drive belt too. You don't want to get oil and/or coolant on it and not replace it.

    Isn’t the one near the fan the most difficult? There’s a hose in front of the bolt. How did you get that on off?

    I watched a bunch of these tutorials to get ready and I noticed nobody shows how to properly refill the cooling system and purge any air out. Is it just as straight forward as filling up the expansion tank and opening up that little screw? Do you need to run the engine to push the air bubbles out?

    • @AdrianJayeOnline
      @AdrianJayeOnline 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you also have to bleed the air out it's something like, holding down the gas pedal with the ignition on till you hear the pump running, google it, or search on youtube

    I’m surprised you didn’t take the cap to the oil filter off and clear the housing of oil.

    • @SaltCityEuros
      @SaltCityEuros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too actually

    • @johnnywalker5635
      @johnnywalker5635 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But I was judging you before I did the job. Sorry about that. I completed the job after your video and others. I did use a hand held siphon and got it all out. But becsuse of the way i replsced the gasket i couldve done what you did but probably would've been messy down the driver side of the engine block. I removed the oil filter. Then put the cap back on tight. And tipped it upside down to replace the gasket. My thick radiator hose with the quick connect fitting would not under any circumstance remove off of the housing. I had the metal pin pulled and removed. Should've slid off.
