In today's video we are replacing a very worn-out gasket on the oil filter housing. This is a very common problem on all BMW E90's and is a very easy and quick repair. This gasket failing can cause oil to leak all over the bottom of your engine and appear that it is leaking from everywhere.
Below I have left all the parts I used, including any tools needed as a guide for this job from Amazon:
Oil Filter Housing Gasket - amzn.to/39XmPjF
Oil Filter Housing Bolts - amzn.to/3lXNLSA
Nice E4 - E20 Socket Set - amzn.to/2K771zY
E10/E12 Wrench - amzn.to/3qD3LwZ

Thanks bro👏🏼
Big things coming!!!!!!!
This is true! Big announcement soon!
Appreciate everyones support alot🙏🏼
Sick as video , im do my car soon, it's also never been changed on my car ,whip is at 160k miles 🙂
Thanks homie. Much appreciated🤙🏼
🔥🔥💯
Also only supposed to use the aluminum bolts once so you not facing the same problem in 5k miles
You are correct. However, when a customer brings me their car and don't provide the parts or are willing to, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Can update though, this car probably has over 20k leak free miles after this repair🫡
Hey man cool video but just a heads up you have the wrong kind of coolant just a friendly heads up🙂
Yes, but if it's already Green and the customer doesn't want to change it then I leave it the same color. You can't mix the 2 different colors
True but bmw does recommends the blue coolant but I guess up to the customer like you said🙂
Hello, I noticed you have your coolant reservoir open. Did you have to add a lot of anti-freeze and purge the coolant system afterwards? Thanks!
Good question! Yes, anytime you remove any coolant its important to bleed the system.
Yes, I had to fill up a little under 1 gallon
@@Mechani_Cole One more question....Was that a 1/4" drive and universal joint you used to remove the rear bolt?
Yes it was. The 3/8s didn't fit well. But the 1/4 is perfect😁
@@Mechani_Cole Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. Your video is excellent and informative. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. -R
No worries, happy I can help! Happy wrenching✌🏽
Green coolant?
Yeah was the wrong coolant for sure
You made this look like cake and my mechanic is charging me $450 labor to do this meanwhile my water pump + thermostat labor was cheap
Damn, I need to up my prices! I did this for only $120. It took me less than 45 minutes. Sounds like your mechanic is a rip off😳
This is probably one of the easiest things to replace on this car
Think the other gasket is for the outside
It's for the 335i model that has the extra cooler there 😎
The other gasket is for the N54 engine 335i
Yeah for the oil cooler, I learned that afterward. Thanks for sharing🤙🏼
