Hey guys. We were forced to re upload this review because our first video featured a Barry White song, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The song was used to set the mood during the bathtub scene between Ramsay & Theon, but alas, copyright rules strike again! Tyrion's trial scene is one of the most powerful and great scene in this entire series.
I just want to add that in the books, Oberyn offers to champion Tyrion BEFORE he demands his trial by combat. This means that Tyrion has a plan when he demands his trial by combat.
On the one hand, having Tyrion call for a trial by combat out of desperation is more impactful and better develops Tyrion's character.
However in the books, there is a theory that Oberyn always wanted there to be a trial by combat, and intended to kill Tywin, and defend himself in a trial against the mountain, thus killing them both.
So in conclusion, the show does a better job developing Tyrion, but the books do a better job with Dorne.
Tywin Lannister is the best villain of the entire series. He ruined everyone's lives, he ruined Jaime, Cersei and Tyrion, he Ruined House Tully, Baratheon, Stark and everyone both in Riverland, North, the capital city like the Smallfolks, he butchered Elia of Dorne and her childrens, he ruined the Targareyn dynasty. But He did a great job as the hand of the king before the king became mad.
And then he died on the toilet.

Tyrion at his trial i think is some of my favorite acting from peter dinklage in the whole show. He sounds so raw and real when he's cursing the people of kings landing.

I never understood by Jaime didn't name himself champion for Tyrion. There is no way IN HELL Tywin or Cersei would let Jaime die for Tyrion. They would have found a scapegoat, had some nobody confess to killing the king (like the baker or some shit) and then let Tyrion go. Tyrion probably would've led them to the real killer.

As much as I would've liked to see Oberyn live. Tywin and cersei probably would've changed the rules and denied trial by combat completely negating that plan

I think Varys had the plan of smuggling Tyrion already in mind when he testified. The scene about not forgetting foreshadows that pretty clearly in hindsight. Also I think it’s pretty obvious during the scene with Tywin and Jamie that Tywin was planning to have that happen all along, even if Jamie didn’t make the deal he would’ve still found a way to make Jamie lord of Casterlyrock.

Varys cleverly appears duty-bound while simultaneously refraining from changing the outcome of the trial in a significant way. He spoke of an instance in the small council chamber-- any of the characters involved could've told this one. This made him appear devoted to Tywin whilst revealing nothing that Pycelle or Cersei couldn't have. Then-- once Tyrion asked him if he had forgotten who saved King's Landing-- he replies, "Sadly, my lord, I never forget a thing." Neither confirming or denying anything.

What pisses me off is the ending of the third book ended with Tyrion becoming a monster and him embracing that title afterwards
But they had to sugarcoat it in the show and turned the cold blooded strangling of shae into self defense
re: Shae testifying due to possible Cersei threats I don't agree. Remember when Tyrion met Shae and they talked with Bron (I've been trying to remember if Bron introduced them, huge twist if so... He was the one that insisted he saw her to the boat, yet she's in court),; The story of his marrying a girl, only to find out Tywin hired a prostitute to make him a man... Then proceeded to let the soldiers have at her, piling up coins in front of him. So maybe Tywin knew Shae the whole time and did it again... How else would she end up in Tywins' bed calling him 'my lion'?

One thing that is rarely mentioned is this fact... Any trial by combat against the royal family must be met by a member of the kingsgaurd. So... Tyron had the right idea. He'd still choose his bro. And the royal family would have chosen the worst member to make sure they didn't lose Jamie...
I don't think Tywin was ever going to kill Tyrion. If he wanted to he would have killed him when he was born like he said he wanted to, he values his family name way too much to openly murder a member of his family.
And I think in a twisted way he understands that Tyrion is a valuable member of his family, but because of his raw hate towards him Tywin doesn't quite realize just how valuable. Show Tywin that is, book Tywin never cared at all

In the Middle Ages the suspect wasn't even allowed to tell his/her story before a judge. I also found it strange that Tywin is also the judge that wasn't the case in real life, in several country in Europe.
This takes place in Westeros lol a FICTIONAL world. Comparing any of it to "real life" is like pissing into the wind.
