It took us 13 years to get Fire Emblem here in the States, but games like this make it worth the wait. Featuring a bevy of recruitable all-stars from the series' history, Fire Emblem: Awakening boasts a robust 40+ hour campaign, plenty of sidequests, downloadable maps, and StreetPass features so you can recruit your friends into your own army.

Really good thus far! Haven't owned a portable game system since the Gameboy Micro; so I thought I would get the bundle and it's AMAZING!

This is much easier than the other games, since you have to specifically choose "Classic" in order for dead characters to remain dead. I guess they just did that to bump down the difficulty. I think the option is nice, because some people prefer the challenge while others enjoy the experience.
Having casual added to the series made it a lot less stressful so the games could be more fun. Honestly in the older games I'd just reset the game to get my unit back because I get way too emotional with them
I am one of those people... Ive always avoided games like this but this one looks interesting. Very simple, visually fun, and strategic.

no, stores still charge normal price, but on ebay and some amazon sellers are selling it for $10-20 more

Sacred Stones is the best. And you said it TJ the story might be cliché but the it always carries it self with a certain dignity and humor.
But it is the best Fire Emblem graphically, the first with DLC and opens the series up to a whole new audience with casual mode.
I enjoyed the demo, wouldn't say it's a system seller per se, but still a great game.
And if this game is getting such a good reception, I can't fathom how Pokemon X and Y will be received.

Almost. Fire Emblem was developed by the same developers of Famicom Wars (the first game in the "Nintendo Wars" saga) so it share some aspect and are the same genre

So you've played it then? Because I've been playing for over 60 hours in total now and a can't stop coming back for more.
It's costs more to send off for those capture cards than the system it self so this method is just as effective than using an Capture card.
I think he meant it more in the sense that FFVII's plot has been very overplayed ever since its release. It may have been original then, but when a game in 2013 tries a similar plot, not so much.

I don't like that kind of game, either. This game is *that* good. You need to try it.
This is the BEST game on the 3DS by far. I mean this is only game so far that has actually kept me consistently entertained, has a great story, and very attractive visuals. It also has a great representation of diverse female characters (compared to other games), which is important to me.
Yes, but a pixel-sharp bright colourful miniscule screen.

I really hate it when people who do reviews like this get that tone, or flat out say "been through this a thousand times..." Um...maybe some people haven't! Maybe some people would like to try one of these games for the very first time, and I'm not just talking specifically Fire Emblem, but I'm talking all games like this. Just because YOU have played games like this before, does not mean everyone has, especially since this is a bit of a niche game to begin with.
They have some voice acting but it´s not fully voice acted. Like sometimes they wil say "yes" when yes is only the first word in that dialogue. Still a step forward over the other FE games
Well that's your opinion. I personally like Dark Moon the best out of the whole library (in tandem with Dream Team) But Awakening is a close second for me. (No hate please!)

i mean it based on the advance wars code but with difference rules like lever up system, perma death etc
alot of people like the original 3ds because it fits in your pocket. Kind of the point of having a portable console. The screens are fine on it btw, theyre just not as good as the xl
Not really. Plot wise, he only explained the first few chapters. The children thing isn't really a spoiler, since it doesn't HAVE to happen, with the exception of one character

I am just about 6 hours in to the game so i cannot claim objectivity here, but how in the bluest of the blue hell does the story of this game is reminiscent of FF 7?

I don't know how I'll get this game when it comes out. We don't have any game shops here plus they're ridiculously expensive :/
I'd say it's a stretch to say it's the best game on the 3DS by far. It kept you consistently entertained, but that doesn't make it the best game on the 3DS. The visuals and gameplay are fantastic, but the story is lackluster compared to FE 6,7, and 9. This game makes up for it by having an incredibly detailed set of support conversations and complicated gameplay, yet I don't think it's up at the best 3DS game and definitely not the best FE.
What do Metroid and Pokemon have to do with Fire Emblem?

I've seen some capture card footage for the 3DS and it really doesn't come across better really sure better quality of the video but gameplay wise it's slower from some capture card 3DS Seeing it being played properly off screen gives off a better impression of the game than captured but It doesn't work well for DS/3DS games really.
The Micro was an excellent system - great screen and truly portable, unlike the 3DS.
What? The fact that the 3ds folds not only to make it smaller but to also protect the screens makes the 3ds better for portability.

I'd like a clarify something. Yes, the Marth in this game is a girl but shes only pretending to be Marth while the real Marth is a DLC. So, to sum it up shes not really Marth and Marth is in fact a guy. Just saying:)

GOTY, honestly. I have so many 3DS games but I never touch them - I always keep coming back to this one. People - go vote for this game for the Golden Joystick GOTY, it really deserves it.

Since when is a story reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII a bad thing? You kidding me? That game had an awesome plot, so I'll take that as a positive here. I've heard nothing but good elsewhere regarding the story.
I seriously want this game, but seeing as how Nintendo screwed the pooch big time with shipping the game out, I have to wait until I can actually find it at a decent price. Ah well, at least I have Ni No Kuni to whisk me into dreamland until then...

um in fire emblem awaking its a girl when he/she gets her mask cut off its a girl reveled so yeah i have the game i got to that part it was a CGI cutscene i am not making this up look it up maybe marth in the other games was a boy but marth in this game is a girl
But if you make videos for people's enjoyment, they should be able to watch it not in shitty quality.

I'm playing it now. I don't really think of it as a "game" though. There's no point. I don't find it to be that entertaining, and the multiplayer is incredibly boring. They should've at least implemented voice chat.
Also the towns people drone ON AND ON for nothing.... Like every time I enter the store or leave they have to fucking bother me. And everything takes so long, it asks you like 5 times if you're sure you want to open the damn save file.
