Great video 🤙 I’m going to start tearing into my 08 Renegade gear box, the can am dealer quoted me 3700 for a replacement 🤒 I’m fairly decent with a wrench. I’m going to give it a go my self. Thanks for talk my the time to upload this 🤙
Don't timer taught me a trick on a bearing pressed in a cup you take a grease gun in the center or the race of the bearing and pump in the grease pushes it right out to it's amazing
Great video! What part moves actual gears when moving the shifter? My 2021 outlander 650 is hard to go into gears even when the motor isn't running and if I am stuck in a mud hole (with the quad running) it seems to shift in between gears, or pop out when I shift from low to reverse. It's as if it's not engaging the gears all the way. Sometimes the tires will still move but it sounds awful, like something is rattling. I took off the side panel and see that the shifter is moving the leaver on the tranny but sometimes it won't go into gear at all and sometimes it will slightly go into gear but not fully, it will pop into gear if I rock the quad ( while quad is off). Any ideas what is causing this? Was hoping you would show gears moving when shifted. Thanks.
Its hard to say for sure but it sounds like something is not right inside. what moves your gears is the shift fork. in newer atvs like yours Ive heard that they can be weak and bend. it could also be bad needled bearings or even the spring. I would also inspect the gears to make sure they are not rounded out. Its been a while since I made this video but if i remember correctly i did go through the gears. Look through my videos you may find what you need.
I have 2004 bombardier outlander 330 there is a popping sound coming from the gear shift gear box kind of sounds like a bad pcv joint but it's not checked all that rear diff has been rebuilt drive shaft and u joints are good ..can you give any pointers of what the sound might be or what would cause it only does it first taking off and louder at turns once your up in speed no more popping
it really sound like a u joint. if the u joints are not lined up correctly it will make that noise you are describing even if they are good. the only other thing that it could be is a bad bearing inside. But i believe those units don't have the separate trans like there big brothers so you may have to split the engine to check. I would jack it up and spin the rear wheels and see if you can pin point the noise. if it catches it may be that one of you u joins are not lined up correctly
The slide hammers a good way to do it to with the fingers that expand the inserted to the inner race expand the fingers and Slide the weight down the the rod Pop's the bearing right out
How would you know if your forks are bent or damaged? Ie. what are the symptoms. I have 800 commander that has difficulty shifting, that I believe stems from plotting snow and pushing to hard-and shifter getting stuck... (I eventually broke the shifting knob off, now I have a pair of vice grips instead.)
It’s been a while but from I can remember you had to shift to L then H to get it to engage. On the commanders the shift cable can stretch and make hard to get it to engage in reverse. I would start with the cheaper parts like the cable and see if that helps before tearing in to your transmission.
@@awences1 thanks for that... Maybe, just maybe it’s not a major job! I’m. I waiting to hear back from a shop i took it to, (I’ve heard they are good mechanics...) Hoping for the best, expecting something else...
What would be wrong with my 2016 xmr 850 everything in the trans and all gears work when out of the case but as soon as you put it in gear while it’s on the fourwheeler the shaft spins freely in every gear and even park does not work
hard to say for sure. I have not experienced this myself. Could just need adjustment if all inside is good. I've heard of some issues with bent shift linkage causing something like this to happen. Or bad bearings inside.
Thanks. I was researching how to rebuild one and never really found what i needed so i decided to try it my self and film it. my plan was to help someone out so they won't get ripped off by the dealer or other mechanics.
Hard to say for sure could be anything. could be bad needle bearings or maybe they weren't installed or aligned correctly. There is a way to check to see if the transmission moves through its gears correctly, should be in one of these videos. Always do that before installing it to the atv. Before tearing in to it again I would start by adjusting/ inspecting the linkage first.
Hey I have a Honda rancher 400 and the guy I bought it from said the clutch was slipping but it kinda fills like something Is holding it back until you get up to about 20 or go up a hill would it be the clutch plates or the other clutch that looks like shoes Iv never done a rancher thanks in advance
Sound like a centrifugal clutch problem. Not sure what model you have but if its an AT i would check that out. if they have big tires on it and use it on mud than i bet your clutches are going out.
Yes, i did mine without remove it completely but its difficult. it will probably be easier to remove it but if you're patient it can be done. If i remember correctly i had to slide front diff forward and rear diff back and pry the front of the engine up some with a long bar. oh and undo all motor mounts. the one in the trans the one on top of the engine and the one in bottom front of engine. So basically you are already undoing everything but the wiring harness. You could also leave it in place and just turn it side ways once you remove all that stuff.
It was really sloppy and it wouldn't shift right. If you take the secondary clutch off and you wiggle the shaft if it has a lot of movement chances are your bearings are bad or are going bad. Needs to be tight when you move it.
I don't remember exact cost but I want to say about $300 or close to it. Its still cheaper than buying a used or new one. I got all the bearings from 2wheelpros.
Just bought the kit from moose racing..159$ plus tax. I watched your videos and built it myself without any issues...thanks bud
No problem. Glad it helped

No problem at all. its ridiculous how much a shop will charge for this. Its really not that hard to do.
Awesome rebuild. Great job.
Thank you.
Appreciate the video, you are the man

interesting will have to try that.
Thanks I got mine out and apart.now I no better. Thanks again
No problem. its all about helping each other get back to the trials.
Great video! rebuilding mine right now, first time aswell lol
How did your rebuild go?
No problem really, pretty easy. Used the same method as you for the blind bearing.
Good im glad you got it all fixed up.
Hvala bate spasio si nas
No problem, glad it helped.
What were symptoms of the bad bearing? Did you pull this cover with the gearbox still in the quad?

Great video
Thanks. Just trying to help out.

Hey man i hope you can help me
ive repaired the transmission twice, but the PRND gears are stuck when i try to shift them.
Do you know the reason why?

I heard my odes Dominator is same as canam is that true?
The engine looks similar but im sure they have their differences.
Thank you :)
You got it. Just trying to save people a little money.
can the transmission be pulled without removing the motor?
Yes, i did mine without remove it completely but its difficult. it will probably be easier to remove it but if you're patient it can be done. At first I thought your channel name was CrazyQuotes lmao
Ha that is funny. thanks for taking the time to view my video.
Where did you get the instructions from?
Did some research on the web, asked a few friends and borrowed a service manual
Whats the part number on the bearing you pressed out
I think its 420632290 but I would double check that before buying just to make sure.
What was your transmission doing ?
It was really sloppy and it wouldn't shift right. If you take the secondary clutch off and you wiggle the shaft if it has a lot of movement chances are your bearings are bad or are going bad. Needs to be tight when you move it.
Which hearings would be bad? Just the one that’s in the outter case where the shaft goes through for the secondary?
How much did it cost for the parts?
I don't remember exact cost but I want to say about $300 or close to it. Its still cheaper than buying a used or new one. I got all the bearings from 2wheelpros.
Hey man can you give me a call?
Whats your number?
