My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

I remember my girls playing frogger . My older brother came to visit they cried because they thought he was going to break the controller he was so intense. So many fun memories. He is gone now still miss him everyday. Have fun playing those games.❤

That was a delightful vlog Matthew. I'm with you as the anxiety of clutter and mess makes me bonkers as well. I have a lot to do before the camping trip, and I know I'll get it done, but I have other things I have to do first. Watching Brooklyn's bike on the back of Lucky made me smile. Excellent as usual. Also a gamer. Idk if u grew up with magic the gathering. But hearthstone is basically the same just re-skinned. I play on phone and tab. Mario rpg games were also good.
I was huge into MTG in Jr. High, even dabbled in some Pokemon which was just an easier reskinned version in my opinion. Have played Hearthstone a little bit but nothing lately.
I got the chocolate milkshake frosted flakes this afternoon. Theyre tasty 😊

Super Mario RPG - The Legend of the Seven Stars came out in 1996 at the very end of the SNES' lifespan, and unfortunately got over shadowed by the release of the N64 the next year. It is most definitely a fantastic game co-produced with SquareSoft before they moved over to Sony to release Final Fantasy 7 on the PlayStation. Hope you enjoy your playthrough of the remake, would love to see a follow up on what you think about it.
I had commented in another video I started seeing jeeps with those ducks and they were in a row on their dashboards....so we already were noticing jeeps after you got yours, then more lately seeing the ducks....the count is up to five in the past couple weeks...sorry for joke I guess those people have their" ducks in a row".....lol😊
I was just at the grocery store & a jeep parked out front had 22 mini ducks on their dashboard. My mom wanted to know why, my explanation was “Jeep people” have always been a bit odd 😂
Bronco owners do it with cute little ponies. My aunt has gotten 4 or 5 since she got her Bronco.

As per usual with McDonalds it was the presentation that was the most lacking. The flavour was decent but my God - the burger assembly specialist was clearly blind

$7.99 for the burger alone at mcdonalds in Calgary. the 1/4 pounder has really jacked up in price lately since they can't shrink the meat patty due to naming it the burger the weight of the patty. the big mac patties are paper thin now. I'm done with mcdonalds

@@TravelingGamer_ yep. you can buy a whole tube of 1/4 lb patties at costco calgary for under $30. or 18 1/3lb in a tube for $32. a little cheddar cheese skip the bun you have over 2 weeks worth of dinners for the price for 4 mcdonalds 1/4 pounders.

I always forget to make a comment when you mention using vinegar. I started using it last fall (because of you!) before emptying my onboard water tank. It was my first winter living in the van, and I didn't want to deal with frozen water in the lines or the pump. Using the vinegar was/is so simple, and now that I'm back filling the water tank, I find that I'm not using as much water. (I buy the 4L jugs for drinking water.)
I also buy the 4L jugs of vinegar and pour about 2 cups down the sink drain and 4 cups in my portable loo after emptying them. Way more inexpensive and effective at nutralizing odor than those expensive chemical pods!! 🫢

I’ve thought about a Steamdeck but again, like I mentioned in this video, I’m really leaning towards games more reminiscent of my childhood and that simply screams Nintendo

Hi Matthew, I just wanted to comment on the microphone you are now wearing. (sorry) I just find the volume of it is constantly changing and sometimes it just sounds like you are mumbling. I don't know if it needs to more centred on your shirt to pick up all the time or not, but I do find it annoying to turn up my volume and then all the sudden it's far too loud because your mouth is closer to the mic side? Maybe something to experiment with a bit more? Hope all is well out there!
