I know, nothing's really private on the internet. And calling out channels that profit off child abuse and neglect is definitely important. But maybe we can leave those kids the little bit of privacy they have left, even if it's just an illusion.

This is something I've particularly noticed with a lot of people who say they want to have "a baby" or "lots of babies". They like the idea of having a BABY, feeding, clothing, coddling, that sort of thing. Then, if you notice, as soon as that child hits toddler age, suddenly they're "having another baby!" They don't want CHILDREN, they want a BABY. It's like the people who want a PUPPY, but then when that puppy becomes an adult, back to the shelter it goes so they can adopt another puppy. The problem for these parents is when they realize that they can't do that with kids. Then the kids become an inconvenience.

I watched these family travel vlog once and never again! The children were 7 or 8 years old. They arrived in Thailand late afternoon the day before. Next morning, they were filmed eating breakfast. They were filmed during the outing all day. Then they were filmed going to a night market at 9-10 pm at night. They looked exhausted. Selling your cozy house in the suburbs, quitting your stable job and living in an RV can be a totally valid life choice, *if you make it for yourself or mabye together with your partner*. But dragging kids into this? Wtf. The kids of these families did not make an educated life choice for themselves, their parents decided for them and dragged them along. Kids need a stable environment much more than some adults do and this is the opposite.
My parents actually have an RV and when I was a kid, I enjoyed it - for vacations! 3 weeks tops, usually less. It was fun and I liked our road trips, but after like two weeks I also felt very happy returning to our house and my room, with space and privacy and my friends and hobbies in town. The sheer thought of living like that full time as a kid is hell!

I’ve seen a van life mother say if the kids were unhappy, they would tell the parents, and they’d “just buy a house”. But it will be hard for a kid to speak up under these circumstances. The parents are making a living off of the kids and “the life on the road.” The parents also always say the entire family is “happy“ and it is “wonderful to travel.” this sounds a bit like emotional manipulation.

I would have different kinds of negative reactions towards situations and would show how they made me feel, but no one would question them, because I didn't explicitly say "It's making me uncomfortable/sad/etc" because I couldn't communicate properly.

Things like this need to be taken on a case by case basis. Firstly, there are many families throughout the world that live in a single room/studio house. My personal opinion is that vanlife is fine for young children and can be fun. I do think older kids and teens should have a more stable home if possible. I live in a van by choice. I’m a single mom and I waited until my youngest went to college before doing this. I also had to work three jobs just to pay the rent on a one bedroom apartment. So I can see why some families may not have a choice. Having a “stable” job is not that easy anymore. I should mention my main job was a career profession and I could still not make rent with it………… that being said, a lot of the examples you are showing are different. 10 kids in one camper is absurd. Family van bloggers is a bit of a red flag. My concern with this video is you are promoting judging people with kids in a camper without knowing the specifics.

I won't use public restrooms and I want a seating area and a bed, but don't want to have to convert it every morning and night, so this is the perfect build for me. I would use different materials and maybe do a murphey bed instead of electric, but I love their bathroom. If you search concrete oasis, there are a bunch of videos. We had a single wide trailer we used as a living/day space. We all slept in a 8 foot box pop up for 2 years. Me and brother on one bed. My parents on the other and my sister on the converted table.
It really was a crazy adventure and looking back we all are amazed we lived through it. But it sure installed a sense of “we can do without” rule to life and taught us the value of money and hard work. The part most kids can’t fathom was we had a 13 inch black and white tv with only over the air channels!!

Surely it depends on how much time they spend in it? If the only time they're inside is when they are travelling or sleeping that's hardly an issue.
If you spend most of your day outside then you really won't care sleeping next to a family member. The issue comes from being confined to a small space but that's unlikely the case here.

I am the youngest child of three raised by a single mother who moved us into a small home so that we could escape our abusive father. We had no furniture when our mother bought our home and for the first six months, we had to sleep on the floor. Now that I am an adult, I am proud of my mother for doing what she could on her own to make a safe home for us. When I see two parent, well to do families willingly subject their children to living in cramped spaces with no furniture not out of necessity but for clout, I feel disgusted.
In most of theses vanlife families squeeze their kids into such cramped spaces but they make sure that the parents have a spacious room/bed.

Living in small spaces can actually drive a person mad. Idk how they do it. After my dads divorce he got a studio apartment it was really really small & when I would come over for the weekend it genuinely affected me. I love spending time with him so I’d focus on that but I genuinely would see such a shift by staying at him for a few days or more. Now he had a nice spacious apartment & he himself even seems so drastically different in mood & happiness.

As a child I lived a very nomadic life and had no privacy most of the time. I can without a doubt say it caused me issues in many aspects but on topic about privacy. It has left me as a person paranoid and obsessive over my privacy. I remember when I finally stopped living that way I would buy locks obsessively and never let anyone in my room. I spend countless hours fearing for my privacy and how i will get privacy again next time. A large part of me feels like eyes are on me at all times to the point I double check my doors before i change my clothes. I even struggle to feel private when I'm behind a door and my spouse and child are going about their day. Please for the love of what ever you hold dearest do not make your children go through this or grow up with a dysfunction due to this lifestyle. Please don't. Just don't. if you want to be nomadic do it as childless adults. When you have a baby on the way please settle somewhere even if its in an rv park till you get something more permanent just don't do this to your child.

Children really need more rights a citizens in this country. They deserve a right to privacy, a proper education, and space! They deserve stability and real friendships. This is child abuse, and it’s right in front of our eyes. These kids all need to have their money accounted for (if they are featured, they earned their share), and then we need to make showing kids under 18 online without their consent illegal. These people are all so fake, and no child could be happy living like this. Having a camper for family vacations is wonderful, just like coming home to your own room and bed friends are, except these poor kids never go home.

My dad was living the van life when I was a kid. He picked a place for us to live and let me go to school during the year, but in the summers we lived in the van.
People think my life was great. I hated it. I just wanted to stay with my friends.
Days consisted of holding my pee because he never wanted to stop, and eating mostly fast food. Sometimes we would stop to take pictures and spend a couple minutes at a place.
At night I slept in the passenger seat leaned back as much as I could, or in a tent. We stayed at a lot of campgrounds that had showers run by quarters. Dad gave me 2 for a shower so I had to use the first one to get all wet while the water was still freezing cold, then soap everything up with the water off, and then rinse as best I could in the cold - tepid water from the second quarter.
Laundry was done in rest stop sinks in front of everyone, or in rivers or wherever we could. People really don't understand how bad the day to day life like that is. It's a small step above being homeless.
