I have some very sad news. Brain Murray, the voice of Silver in Treasure Planet, has just passed away. Even though he may be gone for good, he will always rattle the stars.
I understand the mixed feeling about the blend of sci-fi and steampunk but am i the only one here who lóves this mix?? I normally don't give a damn about Sci-fi, it's my least favorite subgenre of Fantasy. But here it actually works to my taste. Why? Because it creates an own uniqueness and charm with it. Imagen if they did go all the way with Sci-fi as you put it, than it would easily fall into a much more generic setting because it has been done a thóusand times before. This hasn't! This is a unique mix! Or....unique for me, I've rarely seen it before. Sometimes you don't have to stick with just one theme for your setting. I lóve this setting and don't understand why people have a problem with it.
MissFlow would you like to watch a sequel to this movie?
@MissFlow I fully agree with you. When people bring forth that they wanted either an animated Treasure Island or a full sci-fi version of it, I also bring up that Disney had done Treasure Island four times before so there had to be a twist to make it stand out. I think the final product was a unique idea and avoided being similar to movies like Titan A.E. (2000).
I think B.E.N. single-handedly brought this movie way lower than it could have been. I mean, he warns everyone near the end, but they could have done without him. Morph was more than enough cute, energetic comedy.

Honestly, at least when I compared this and Atlantis: The Lost Empire together, I used to like Atlantis better than Treasure Planet. However, now, I like Treasure Planet better. Still, both are really fun films.
This was disney's first space movie before guardians of the galaxy

Why didn't you consider morph as a character? I thought he was an important part of the story, did you not feel the same way?

Treasure Planet was a 💌 to both Treasure Island and it’s author, Robert Louis Stevenson.
