    So many horrors rely on jump scares, I love how this film uses Subtely & Eerie themes to build the tension.

    "Signs (2002)" Perfectly acted by the entire cast and still a very re-watchable movie.

    18:09 Midwesterners are often stereotyped for being taciturn and unflappable. I actually appreciate this movie not being typical with the characters becoming emotionally overwrought. It also gave the film a touch of humor.
    Another example of this would be the movie ‘Fargo’ (1996). I would highly recommend it.

    This movie had a serious psychological impact on me when I was a kid. Our dad showed it to my siblings and I when it came out on DVD/TV about a year after release. We grew up in a rural county in Illinois. The biggest town only had 3500people in it. And we lived way away from that. Surrounded by cornfields and thick forests similar to their house in this movie. Anyway after watching this movie there was no going out at night unless you really had to. And when you did you had to talk a sibling into going outside with you. At the time we threw pocket knives in our pockets just in case lol. To this day any time I walk outside at night instead of a pocket knife I am strapped, locked, and loaded lol. Didn’t help that my home county has the most UFO sightings per capita in the state and the surrounding states. Which is impressive considering how few people we have here. Nothing will ever likely happen but you had better be damned sure that I will be ready if or when it does 😂

    there are no coincidences everything is planned for that day: that his son has asthma, that his daughter has that tic of collecting water, that his wife tells him before she dies that her brother is batting hard. sometimes i wonder how the world would react if from one moment to the next hundreds of spaceships appear.

  • @arkikali5632
    @arkikali5632 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I died at your daddy's reaction to the "primitive methods." But if you think about it, yeah--they probably threw water on them like the Wicked Witch of the West. Primitive but damn effective. 🙂

    If I may, the editing could be more pointed - you should leave in all the key moments of the movie (eg the enntire couch dialogue) and you reactions to those. Or when Mel Gibson sees the leg in the cornfield. Those are the key moments, and those are the moments to which your audience would like to see your reactions.

      Yes... but - TH-cam also has very strict copyright policies for movie reactors and they don't allow certain scenes from certain movies. This is ofen why videos from a great many of them get taken down and have to be reuploaded after editing. I'm sure they do the best they can without violating the terms and conditions with so many restrictions.

    Are you the kind that sees signs, that sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Or, look at the question this way: Is it possible that there are no coincidences?

    These aliens are advanced enough for intergalactic travel and YET they can't open doors? Lol. And why would they choose a planet that's comprised of 70% water, if water kills them 100% of the time? Lol 😂

    • @myegyptiandadreacts4824
      @myegyptiandadreacts4824  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Lol I was willing to disregard these questions as the alien aspect was, to me, the least interesting aspect about the movie. The heart of the movie imo was the family and Mel Gibson's character's struggle with grief and faith😂

      Good points both of you

    • @Geth-Who
      @Geth-Who 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean, water's made of hydrogen and oxygen, two of the most common elements in existence, it'd be *everywhere*. But it's like trying to apply physics to Star Wars - in the end it's a story about space wizards, making physical sense isn't the real point of the movie.

    • @oaf-77
      @oaf-77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Geth-Who I read a theory that it wasn’t just water, but holy water, because there’s frequent references to the little girl being an angel. Either way you’re right, it’s not meant to be a hard science fiction film, more of an allegory or fable.

      It's just a movie - there needs to be a little poetic license allowed now and then to make k it flow.
