    I was there when MCMAP started, was a huge joke! We had Sgt's going to Quantico and two weeks later back at the suck with a black belt...half the guys in the unit were already killin it in Jiu Jitsu and were dismantling these MCMAP instructors, then the brawlers on club nights would put a different kind of twist on an ass whoopin. The old school method of Close Combat should have remained in place and just added new techniques. Belt systems are a joke and in the civilian world are for making money for schools and academies. Before belt system was adopted Jiu Jitsu only had three belts; white (beginners), blue (more advanced), and dark blue (instructors). Now everyone wants levels of belts, but its blatantly obvious that it doesn't matter the color of the belt its the person and his/her ability to apply techniques and leverage the best. IBJJF requires a person to be a blue belt for two years before they can advance to next belt...why? MONEY! You continue to train for years paying that bill every month! Great example is IBJJF made a change, they had blue belts going to advance competitions beating black belts and winning. So IBJJF said two years min unless you go to one of these competitions and beat everyone, they you dont have to wait two years...WTF! That is the perfect example of why belt system (colors) is a joke. Some damn desk jockey in the Marines allowed this BS because the UFC and other fight clubs were getting popular. Not the Marine Corps style at all, but there you go some officer made it be.

    • @trulykustom
      @trulykustom ปีที่แล้ว

      The belts do mean something if you get the adequate amount of actual training and continuously grow. They literally say it in the video. The belt only means you went through the pt and tested out for the knowledge. You have to train continuously and continue to grow.
      That’s just my 2 cents idk if you’ll actually see this

    MCMAP is garbage. 5 guys went into the Marines from highschool, came out, (I'm a black belt in Kenpo and Taekwondo, tlalso trained in kickboxing andWing Chun). I legit wrecked 5/5 of those guys with 2 minute times between the rounds .
    I'm not sure what they were taught but it's not made for real combat that's for sure

      It’s not supposed to be a one and all martial arts program. It’s supposed to be a foundation, and just because you’re a mcmap black belt doesn’t mean that you are by any means an expert in martial arts. But what does happen is it beefs up guys egos when they get a new belt and think they can beat up anyone

      @@Kamingo170 I doubt any of them have black belts. Any even then, black belts have different degrees. Also, the techniques aren't meant to become a kicking or boxing master, they're meant to be a foundation so if you find yourself in a situation where you're out of ammo, you have a chance to survive. It only teaches basic strikes, because you're probably going to be in full kit and exhausted, which means you're not going to be doing fancy shit. Try putting on flak and kevlar, run around the base, then spar, then run some more, and spar again, then refresh, and refresh, and refresh. I seriously doubt you guys are doing taekwondo matches wearing a weighted vest after running 3 miles.

    • @Kamingo170
      @Kamingo170 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@taoliu3949 we didn't have a taekwondo match. Combat sports are usually the best way to test yourself against another person ACTUALLY trying to hurt you back. The guys I trained with are now in Okinawa and a few others in California, they came back for a bit and that's when we sparred. They told me they learned MCMAP so I asked to spar to test it's viability.
      Throwing strikes in a vest is fine, I trained with police a few years back and threw high kicks with boots on too. Just gotta train right. MCMAP needs more sparring in my opinion

    • @taoliu3949
      @taoliu3949 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kamingo170 The Taekwondo match is just in general. Again, its combatives, its purpose is to help you survive in battle. Even the Taekwondo taught by the Korean Army is dumbed down. Again, wear a weighted vest, go run 3 miles in boots, and then spar. I'd like to see how many high kicks you can do.
      That said, I do agree that MCMAP needs more sparring, but that's more of a ln organizational thing. Marines are either not trained properly or they don't sustain their knowledge. If you read the actual regulation, theres a lot that needs to be done to earn each belt. That's why you need to look at MAITs for an example. They get trained at MACE who does everything by the book, and they do not play.
