Should I skip sugar?

  • - Yes, if its coming from packaged and processed foods like colas, juices, chocolates, cakes, breakfast cereals, jams, ketchup, biscuits, etc.
    - No if its coming from home made sherbets, tea/ coffee, cooking, festival delicacies, sweets like halwa, laddoo, etc.
    - So instead of avoiding sugar in your tea/coffee, avoid the biscuits that you eat with it
    - Avoid sweeteners and sugar substitutes, including stevia
    - Packaged foods have designer molecules which are addictive, sugar is just one ingredient
    - jaggery is not a replacement of sugar, it has its own place in our cooking and recipes, especially in winter
    Part 5 of the "Should I skip..." series.

    This is the most comprehensive discourse on sugar intake.
    I have talked to numerous doctors (MBBS, Masters!) about sugar intake and never could come up with a definite answer or understanding, while some (including an MS-Cardiology) told me to give it up entirely.

    Rujuta mam you should be, must be our health minister because you not only advocate our own desi food but our food culture and tradition too. Mam I request you to please reach out to the school children and their parents by arranging some kind of food shows or say seminars with the parents to make yourself heard more and more effectively. I totally accept your opinions regarding sugar intake it's completely natural to consume certain amount of sugar but if you control your sugar intake than naturally it will be beneficial on a longer run, your weightloss journey will be extremely easy as people on a normal day dont track how much refined sugar they are consuming
    Your sugar cravings can be met by taking fruits or any other natural form of sugar

    Extinction- Shakar paaray is a sweet that we prepare every Deepwali Tayohaar. But since like 7-8years ,my mother didn't prepared because of children with sugar fear. This year, i said my mother that Iam literally missing your hand made shakar paaray and she prepared boxes of it and we finished also quickly cz 7-8 saal cravings tha. Trust me , Deepawali without traditional sweets is incomplete. I made my son also to eat Shakar paaray and matri, gulab jaamun, soan paapdi and south indian sweets like obaattu , kajaya , karjikaai(made with jaggery) . Iam trying my best to not give him that 5rs kurkere or shots or gems, even we don't buy any biscuits. The western and junk food industry has been so cruel to India that people stopped consuming their own home made traditional safe sweets. My son doesn't feels happy cz we have reduced his chocolate intake but then he might Thank us later. Govt need to take serious urgent measures for the health benefit of Children atleast. Rujutha, you can put a request to the Govt officials regarding this cz you are at that level or you can make advertisements including your friends in Bollywood like Kareena, saif or Shahid etc to educate people on how dangerous it is to consume junk food by food industry and shouldn't be available easily in the market.
    I hope you will think about it. TIME TO ENSURE THE EXTINCTION OF JUNK FOOD FROM INDIA MARKET.

      She says in this video that what you have regularly is fine. Meaning you can have Chai/Coffee with sugar. Her views on Chai/Coffee are: don't have it the first thing in the morning. My guess is have fruit/juice first thing in the morning and then have chai/coffee later. {meaning...it is much more damaging when you startle your body with these stimulants}

    • @scarface548
      @scarface548 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t have juice first thing in the morning.
      Fructose is the same , doesn’t matter what the source is.
      Never eat fructose when you are most insulin sensitive during the day, early morning.
      Eat spicy breakfast.

    Rujuta ji, ghar pe use honewali sugar me bhi depend hai ki kaunsa sugar use hota hai, bleached refined processed white confectionery powdered sugar jo market me chalta hai vo bahut kharab hai, most of the artificial sweetners are also bringing multiple health problems. If the sugar is crystallized organic sugar, shakkar, jaggery, natural sugar in fruits and vegetables is okay to eat.
