Anyone saying he should be focused on Charlotte, probably don't realize he has full backing from Rick Hendricks and is already locked into a playoff spot. Hes racing the 500 no matter what

Except for the fact that in nascar you have to run all the races before the playoffs to compete in the playoffs. NASCAR would have to give him a waiver if he doesn’t start the 600.

NASCAR ownership should take note...the indy series...the weather tech all the roar before the 24...its like WOW...car owners, drivers, attendees...soooo much more friendly...the parking attendants...its wild the difference in culture NASCAR ownership has created...from little town dirt track like angle park speedway...all the way up to ARCA is fun...from that point on...NASCAR has made it a downer...yes i attend 3-4 races/yr of nascar...but it has grown to suck...road races now thats closer to racing fun...
but just plain o'l nascar....nah they lost it...i love the technology, welding, machining, brakes suspension blah blah..

No one is saying indy is not bigger than Charlotte but the Charlotte 600 is a staple in nascar just like indy 500 is a staple in indycar. I don't get people arguing about which race is better you would think racing fans appreciate any big race .

There should be a rule , if you don't start a race , you can't finish the race.
Almost all of the "traditions" are gone. Still a great race. But, no where near what it used to be. I grew up there. Worked there for UPI back in the 70's. And worked on an IRL Team for the 1999 season. Participating in the 500 was a great experience. Larson seems like one of the few naturally talented drivers in today's mixture of foreigners and buy a ride wannabe's. I hope he does well.

I understand there has been a lot of time and money invested in the Indy 500 but I think making it a priority over the Coke 600 is a big mistake. There are a lot of points available in Charlotte tonight, not to mention a crown jewel race. I guess the folks making that decision are smarter than me so we'll see how it goes.

@@justinwilliford7151 What you say about the fans is true. However, Kyle is a full time NASCAR driver so he will race the 600 again. Indy opportunity is rare and he has to take it. This being said, Kyle can drive Indycars with the best so he will get another chance.
Even if the race starts on time, there is absolutely no predicting what time the race will end. Saying the race will end at 345PM is just stupid.
His primary sponsor is his boss basically so that’s why he can skip the 600.. If his primary sponsor was and outside company it would be more difficult to do this

Thats why I am not there, why waste my time n gas to turn around n come back tomorrow after that rain stops, supposed to rain most of the day, then rain again later into tomorrow early afternoon! All those people knew it too and went n e way, I get it, but come on, man, you've known it was going to rain for 2 weeks now and still went! Love to see it pass, but way too big, its going to storm n pour! Its not going to happen today, mise well go home before traffic gets nuts which it will, I go every year.....
