Really enjoy all the videos. I just wanted to say on this one - thanks so much for opening up on giving people a real time perspective on youtube, traveling and your income / expenses. This as you said is a great gauge for other people considering starting a channel which is I think is important. Not many youtubers are willing to do that. Your openness and natural ability to create videos without getting caught up should and should nots of content is great. I think for most or other people the question is initially how long would it take before the beginning of starting a channel -1-2-3 years before some kind of return, even if it's just in visitors - would it be. But I think that it's great to give people an insight and to balance new content creators.

I'm sure other vloggers have been asked the same question by their subscribers, but you are the only one I've known to be very open about the financial aspect of your vlogging. There is no need for viewers to know this, but your openness and honesty is what endear you to your viewers
like i said before, your youtube will be bigger if you stay in indonesia and stay humble of course. keep smiling in your every video. Just a suggestion, indonesian people are sometimes lazy to press the CC button. So i suggest trying to provide Indonesian subtitles in each of your videos. I see a lot of foreign youtubers doing it and they are getting bigger. Trust me alex.

To be frank, it is a great video to let people know your income and expenses. I do thought that that income might be much higher as the expenses for your travels in Indonesia is quite transparent, a thousand plus a month. I thought the income can knock off your expenses 🤣, but it is actually a good start at the first year.
Maintaining a youtube channel is almost the same like venturing a business, losses at the beginning but gain at the later date if the video remains high standard.
Anyway, it had been a high standard of travelling vlogs since I subscribe you. Keep up the good work and cheers.

No. Payment is based on views and the type of content, which attracts different types of advertiser's, which pay differently. Like and dislike are just to show viewers and help youtube in ranking liked videos higher.

I don't know if you will see this, but I have a question. If you had to calculate and sum up all the hours that you, plan a video, film a video, edit a video and post a video. How many hours per day, do you use on that? Like if you needed to compare it to hourly wages. Of course you can't compare jobs, when you're doing what you love 😊

Hey Alex, we were just thinking about your RPM for that video of 446K views that you shared with $344 revenue. That works out to be only $0.7 RPM, which is really surprising and sobering! Do you have much of an Australian/Canadian/US audience? The RPM from these countries would typically be close to 10 times higher than what you are seeing based on our own experience and research. We'd be really curious to know what your RPM is split by country audience, our only guess is that your Indonesian audience is your largest with a much lower RPM. Is that right? If you are able to lift your RPM your revenue would skyrocket as much as your views and you certainly deserve it!
yeah currently indonesia is over 80% of my youtube audience which explains the .70 rpm

The difference comes from "WHICH VIEWERS". Probably your Bali video is watched by your fellow Americans or Europeans. Indonesians are youtube-freaks but our purchasing power is very low, making AdSense rates us at the bottom near Vietnam.

Hey Alexander, that's great, it's building , it takes time. It covers some of your expenses. I think if you target a western audience, you'll get higher pay per views from western IP's. To me I think this would be more travel tip related.

When I feel homesick, watching your videos would relief my misery :) I grew up in Jakarta. Moved to Kuta, Bali as Software Engineer for two years. This move was due to riot in 1998. There were a lot of expatriates in my office, they felt more secure and safe in Bali. Then I moved back to Jakarta (again) then Surabaya before reaching my destination in Colorado. Whereabout in States are you living?
